I have heard that the status can change from "application in process" to "applicant in process" and then back to "application in process." I woudn't be too much worried about this. I would be more concerned if it said a "Final decision has been made on your application."😱:scared: So for those who haven't recieved in interview yet, let's just hope we could get one soon..........:luck::xf:

I'm somewhat scared of the wait 🙁 .....

Dude, if I got the "Final decision has been made" status before April I'd be screaming with joy down State Street, naked in the snow.

Zip, could you give us an acceptance? 🙂

My current status is application in process. It was applicant in process last week............ I'm also a in-state student too. It's been nearly two months, since I was complete.... :xf::luck: Class of 2014?:luck::xf:

I've said it before... marathon, not a sprint. You need to be able to go all the way through March interviews without freaking out. I hope it'll be sooner, but sometimes you just have to wait a little longer for the good news. 🙂

Interview invite today for 10/9 at Chicago! 😱
Got Applicant in Process 9/14 (one week turnover), complete in July.

Is there any difference between the morning and afternoon interviews? If you pick afternoon interview, when do you do tours?
They only seem to be 2 hours apart.

Congratulations. 🙂 Maybe I'll stop by that day. The AM session gets interviewed first, then they join the PM folks for lunch/tour. After that, the AM'ers go home and the PM session gets their interviews.

IS, higher MCAT, lower GPA than you. I'm sure with your MCAT and masters you'll do just fine. And scientific illustration sounds pretty awesome! There's apparently a lot of drawing involved in med school too.

did you know UIC has the best Masters in Medical Illustration program in the country?? That was my original plan 🙂

Maybe if I get into UIC they will let me do a joint degree in it. I wonder if anyone has done that before? (ok actually that sounds like a ton of work. maybe they would just agree to let me take a class or two in that program.) that would be really fun.

OMG INTERVIEW INVITE!!! I'm soooo happy and surprised I got one this early...this is def. my top school, all of my family is from Chicago and it's in-state. I saw the message from WOMP and decided to check not expecting to see a change...

😀

Good to hear Womp, good luck with your interview!

I know... i heard that the Chicago campus gets filled up quick... that's why I was hoping that I could get an interview soon...

Good luck with your interview as well Macduke

thank you! I swear I just checked last night and wasn't planning on looking for awhile again. The dates available are Oct 2 and Oct 9! yikes...luckily Chicago option is on the 9th

Good luck to you! I have friends that got in last cycle that ended up interviewing and getting in extremely late and still managed Chicago campus...so here's to hoping :xf:!

Chicago does typically fill up around December/January, with a few spots still to trickle out late in the season.

does anyone know how UIC looks at mcat scores, I took the mcat twice and I got a much lower score the second time around. do they look at the highest or most recent score or some combination maybe?

thanks

Maybe I should have done early decision as well 🙁.....

I'm sure you'll be fine. Looking at the admission stats, it seems UIC takes good care of its state residents. When did you submit your secondary?

I hope so too.. I send in my secondary near middle of July

Hey guys-

I sent everything to them and THINK I am complete- but it says

"Application is in process"

What's this mean exactly? I may call about this...wanna make sure I am complete!

It means you are complete, they just haven't gotten to reviewing your application yet. It took me a long time to get to "Applicant in Process" but it seems every application is own their own schedule. Gluck! :luck:

woohooo!! There are no slots available right now, but only 3 days are open.

Can someone, maybe zip, fill me in on the differences in location??

Congrats! If you're out of state, Chicago should be the easiest for you in terms of transportation. The campus is essentially right near downtown, and you're close to both airports. Peoria is a 3 hour drive southwest of Chicago and Rockford is about a two hour drive northwest. Don't know much about the interview differences among the locations though.

Thank you! I actually called since no dates were open and they said Oct 2nd was open in Peoria so I took it. The flight is brutally expensive, but being this much earlier is hopefully worth it. :xf:

interview invite this morning! But absolutely no slots open at any of the locations....so I hope some new dates get added in the next week.

Hey zip, what is the official name of this school we are applying to? 😛 University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) College of Medicine, or University of Illinois College of Medicine (plus various campus names)? It seems they can't make up their minds either since they have two website domains too.

http://www.med.illinois.edu

http://www.medicine.uic.edu
http://chicago.medicine.uic.edu/
http://rockford.medicine.uic.edu/
http://peoria.medicine.uic.edu/

AAMC goes by University of Illinois College of Medicine. But Dean Flaherty goes by UIC College of Medicine.

University of Illinois College of Medicine at [Campus]

Urbana/Champaign only has a different domain because they think they're cooler than the rest of us. 😉

Just went from Applicant in Progress to Application in Progress... 🙁

Ah thanks! I do kind of like med.illinois.edu's layout better, it's a little cleaner and easier to find things, where's the UIC one is a bit like a maze. 😎

Wow that was quick, I think I just scheduled mine yesterday...did you call them?

they definitely tried to get me to go to Peoria even though I was looking at my screen which said there were 16 slots open in Chicago (not too sure how accurate that table is). At first she asked me to come Oct. 2nd and I requested Chicago on the 9th and she told me it was full...but after I told her I could NOT come on the 2nd slots magically opened up in Chicago 👍

can you fly into the Quad City airport (Moline?) i think its like an hour away but no idea if its cheaper.

Anyway, the appstat site seems to be down so my obsessive checking can't continue at the moment . . .

Moline is still an hour and a half away... I would look to see if the public transportation/cab involved wouldn't offset the cost savings. I would just fly yourself into peoria and save yourself an enormous hassle at little additional expense.

would it not be cheaper to drive from chicago?

I'm definitely flying to chicago for my Iowa interview and driving...flights there were about 200 bucks more than the flight I managed to chicago

I hope you like corn. 😀

I bet...I used to commute from chicago to cincinnati a lot. that's a boring 4 hour drive as well - 85% cows and corn fields...I imagine the drive to Iowa will be similar, but at least most of it is through IL

At least when you approach Cincinnati, there are some beautiful hills.

At least it's mostly through IL? Oh man, I know northern IL is slightly more exciting, but let me tell you, you know driving through IL (Chicago to Champaign) is bad when I thought driving to my Indiana interview was exciting because there were trees and curves in the road.

more curves and hills = more dangerous when I almost fall asleep during the boring drive lol...

for those of you that already had "pm" interviews...about what time were you finished?

Hey I got PM too on the 9th. I've heard others say we finish around 4:30. See you there! :luck:

lmao apparently not! I'll have to stop by on the way to Iowa, that's hilarious!

there's a chrome shop there, so if you've ever dreamed of owning a chrome item, here's your chance.
