This man is not a troll. He is a messenger of truth and justice, perhaps the divine Metatron himself.

Troll on, son. Troll on.

anyone know when we can expect the letter in the mail? I live by Chicago, I was considering driving over and just asking for my decision

I received mine on Saturday. I would say you should hear something by Monday if not today.

wow that's fast.. I'm in champaign so Monday would be a good bet I guess..

It depends on when they actually mail it. For my committee decision group our packages weren't postmarked until the following Tuesday. For those in Chicago they got it Wednesday...others on the east coast for example got it Friday.

Congrats to everyone who was (/will find out they were) recently accepted and hang in there to those still waiting. 👍

I had the following message added to my status page on Friday: A final decision was made on your application on 04-16-10. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

Above this message, an Additional Correspondence entry (without a date) was added to the grid:
Interview Scheduling Interview Letter Date: "Date Listed"
Interview Date: "Date Listed"
Confirm Interview: "Date Listed"
Additional Correspondence: "Nothing Listed"

I haven't received notification in the mail yet. Has anyone here received anything? Do they regularly send notifications out starting on Tuesday?

Any Rockford Interviewees get status changes?

Everyone gets reviewed at the same committee regardless of where they interviewed so if everyone with decisions would have received updates by now.. if you didn't, that means your file is still on hold. Hang in there..:xf:

Thats what I initially thought but when I spoke to someone on the phone they said that admissions is handled out of chicago but each campus has a committee that meets seperatley - im so confused!

You're in. Congrats.

As for the mail, I didn't receive a letter, but one of my friends who didnt have Additional Correspondence, he just got a rejection letter today. I must live farther than him or maybe the fat packet takes longer? :xf:

Sorry for your friend but this is a sure indication that the final decision made + additional correspondence = Accepted!! Great! I can finally start celebrating!!:biglove::highfive::biglove::banana:

how long has it taken you guys to get campus assignments after you turned it in?

Whats really scary is that he had a 33 and a perfect GPA, so I have no clue how he didn't get in but I did. I think he applied MSTP though

I hesitate to celebrate until I receive an actual acceptance letter with my name on it. This application process had gone so poorly until just recently; I had been applying furiously to post-bac programs after I had received no interview invitations whatsoever (I applied late). I'm glad that the "bad streak" had ended in March and hope that it continues to improve.

I live in the Chicagoland area and usually received my interview notification and confirmation letters one day after the date of the letter. I hope that the fat packet does indeed take longer. Regardless of the outcome, I hope to learn my fate this upcoming week.

I know the feeling brother, it has certainly sucked. Monday is too far away sometimes :scared:

Ya it def isn't just numbers and it doesn't matter if he applied for MSTP or MD because you are evaluated the same way except that in MSTP, you apply for the PhD program in the graduate school of your interest and the graduate school also has to accept you as a PhD student as well as an MD acceptance for you to be an MSTP student.

I interviewed in rockford end of march....no status change yet. anyone else?

Its the same committee meeting, I spoke with one of the rockford people when they came to my school, so I guess you're on hold.

Do you guys think it'll be possible to get campus placements (if we get in) before May 15th? Cause my campus determines if I'll go there or not.

I already got my campus placement. Got it about a week after I sent my deposit in.

It only takes about 2 weeks from the time of your decision...

Did any of you guys had to go through petition process to obtain a chicago placement? Since this is so late, I don't think we will be able to get chicago site placement right away, so we would have to petition for it. Does anyone know how long they take to respond to petitions?

i hate the mail, i hate it so, i wish it would come so i can go.....

Party possibly if i get a fat letter.

😉

anyone get anything yet?

i want to go to sleep and not wake till tomorrow at like 3 when my mail is here, but given my luck, they probably havent even posted the letters yet. do they send the rejection and fat packets at the same time?

Kids, settle down. I got my fat packet the following Thursday. Needless to say, that was a very stressful week for me but, in retrospect, I managed to stay calm after convincing myself that "fat packets" take longer to assemble/mail than rejection letters do AND that they wouldn't waste their time putting up a date by the add corr tab if you were rejected. So please don't go stalking the mail man. 😉

I also do not have a date.

But I still think we're good. Because the people who got rejected had nothing.

(and I was also freaking out when I read the thing about the date. so let's just all calm down. god dammit, JUST STAY CALM!!! WE'VE GOT TO KEEP OUR COMPOSURE!! JUST....KEEP YOUR COMPOSURE!!)

I had the same thing ("Additional Correspondence" with no date) on my status page... I am becoming sick to my stomach because I am so nervous!! I know that I am probably in, but it is hard!

Now I am going to get ahead of myself a bit.... is it really hopeless to get Chicago placement this late? I want to do the MD/MPH program for Health Policy and Administration... isn't that a solid enough reason to get Chicago?

I wouldn't say hopeless but realistically the chances are probably slim. However, I do believe at least two people posted about being placed in Chicago from the March group though. Keep hope alive!

Also, I agree that not everyone initially had a date in the additional correspondence tab.

Man I don't even want to go to school or do my homework, this is possibly as bad as not knowing lol. And I'm trying my hardest not to bounce around, but I think some of my excitement is leaking through, my friends suspect something

I actually really want to do the clinical transitional science masters program, i hope thats a decent reason.

Now, the question is, do we get a second look day and how will we all identify each other irl?

I'm also hoping to do the CTS masters or maybe the James Scholars program. I really really really really want Chicago, I'm fine with Peoria (or Urbana, but I don't think the hospital system is as good as Peoria) if I absolutely cannot get Chicago (I'll do a petition for sure), but I would hate Rockford.

Yay! Someone else who wants to do both! I actually wrote those in my LOI about why I like UIC, they seem like cool programs.

Urbana might be cool, there are some people there who I wouldn't mind seeing.

I think that a date will appear one day after they print/mail out the letters. At least that's what happened in my case with the interview invitation and confirmation letters.

I almost can't even believe it, but I have decision made on 4-16-10 and a correspondence tab with no date. I interviewed in November and after checking thursday night before I left for out of town for the weekend that it was still decision pending, I thought I will have to wait yet another month. I wish I would have the guts to celebrate! So anxious for the mail to come!

+2 I'm also interested in the masters...

I want to do MD/PhD and I heard you could apply for the phd once you get in as long as you apply by the end of first semester of your M1. Do any of you know how their MD/PhD at chicago is different from their MD/PhD in Urbana?

And all of you guys being so anxious about the big fat packet in mail is making me anxious because I have already told everyone and even celebrated yesterday so ya.. it'd be pretty devastating if I got anything but that big fat packet..

I just received the AMCAS background check email...I guess that means its official...I'm in...good luck to everyone else

Same here, now im wondering what exactly is in my background check, hmm maybe i should do my own first and see exactly whats there....lol

Wait a sec ... we can apply for the MD/PhD program while in school?! When did this happen???

Always, what you have to do is wait for a bit while being in UIC, and impress people, then theres an application process and if the graduate school accepts you, you're an MD/PhD

I...didn't get the CBC e-mail.

Christ, don't do this to me.

I got the damn additional correspondence thing, I interviewed in September, it's not May.

Would they really keep me on hold for 7 months just to reject me at a time like this? Why?

I received the same notification via email today. You will get a 10-day chance to view the results of your background check and contest items before it is sent to schools.

Did you maybe list a different email address? If not, perhaps this email is sent in batches and your file has not yet been processed? I am all too familiar with how grueling and frustrating this process has been, so the very best wishes with everything and keep us posted.
