Got the acceptance in the mail today!

Congratulations! You had an "additional correspondence" section as well as an email regarding the criminal background check, right?

And so the stalking officially begins... haha!

Yup, I had both. Still no date under additional correspondence though. And my home address is a Chicago suburb, which is probably why it came so quickly. Good luck to everyone waiting!

I live in a Chicago suburb too. Now, I feel like skipping a dental appointment to "closely follow" my mail carrier...

haha you guys are cracking me up! CONGRATS!!!!! YAY! 😀

P.S. Amdavadi - you're in Champaign, eh? That means we probably go to the same school. bah haha.

Ahhhh... Mail just in... No UIC mail.. Ahhh.. maybe tomorrow!.. No it has to be tomorrow or I'll go crazy!

Hey Quinn, of course man. U of I all the way! Attending Karen Paulsen's presentation this week? hahah

haha I have made it my ambition to avoid anything that has to do with Karen Paulsen and will continue to do so.

Ya man she is really stressful and very demanding. Last year, I went to her presentation and felt like I was never getting into med school. Now this year, since I have an acceptance, I will go there just to show her the exception in the pack who got in despite violating her every rule lol.

Looks like its not in today, one of my siblings just texted me and told me. 🙁 looks like I'm waiting another day

Got the acceptance packet in the mail today too! I'm in the suburbs. This is my first acceptance, so I'm extremely excited!! Yay, time to celebrate!! 😀

Not me, not today at least -- and I live only a few minutes away from Chicago too. This waiting sucks.

Don't worry. I bet we both will also be celebrating tomorrow by this time. 🙂

For individuals living in the Chicago area who have not yet received acceptance packets, do you those individuals are candidates for post-bac or summer programs and not admissions in the fall?

Am I over-thinking this? I live so close to Chicago and feel totally worried that I have not yet received anything in the mail.

Ok so the way I'm thinking of it right now is that if you live in chicago metropolitan area, which includes all suburbs, you would be expected to receive the package today assuming they mailed them out this Monday. Now if you're in-state but outside of chicagoland, you would receive it on Wednesday. If you're out of state but in major cities, probably Wednesday or Thursday. If out of state and in rural area, probably Friday! This is just what I think so don't quote me on this.

Now as far as post-interview statuses go,

Final decision made + No additional correspondence tab = rejection
Final decision made + Additional correspondence tab + no CBC email in few days AND it's supposed to be your first acceptance = post-bac summer prematriculation program invite (Not 100% sure about this one)
Final decision made + Additional correspondence tab + CBC email = Acceptance!

And guys please correct me if I'm wrong in any of this. 🙂

I HATE MY LITTLE SISTER!

She made a fake rejection letter and tried to trick me! But I was like wait this paper is wrong, somethings off here.

I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER!

Please excuse me while I go party

What does decision made with additional correspondence + cbc (on Monday) + metro chicagoland resident + nothing in the mail today = mean?

I work with someone who got their letter today,. This individual lives in Chicago, interviewed in Mid Sept and was awaiting a decision... so there is certainly hope for those who are in application limbo.

Also the logic above seems to follow my experience.

From what you state, you have certainly been accepted. You should receive your fat envelope shortly.

It means your mailman sucks or your family wants to play a trick on you.

I nearly started freaking out, it was baaadddd

😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😍😍😍

Today when the mailman came to my house I made myself get excited that my new fossil wallet that I ordered last week came in order to not get to frustrated waiting fo rmy fat packet...
I am so glad that people in the Chiacgo area have started getting their fat packets... I live in Carbondale, so I am expecting mine tomorrow or Thursday...

If they make me wait in mystery any longer, I will end up in the loony bin!

Because I will not be home tomorrow afternoon, I think that I am seriously going to stalk my mail carrier i.e. drive up to the USPS van to pick up my mail even if she's doing a route blocks away from my house.

It sucks not to receive anything, especially when I live less than five minutes from the Chicago border by car.

I really hope you get your letter soon, its a really great feeling man

Ahhhh I can't believe how much has gone on in the last week!

For the sake of my sanity, I've only been checking up on things every couple weeks, and I've been busy lately so I just caught up on everything going on.

First off - MAJOR congratulations to everyone who got in! And I've got my fingers crossed for everyone else.

After all the stressing, this reminds me of what the Dean said when I interviewed back in November. He said last year they went over their quota in February, so the kids interviewing in March were screwed. This year they were determined not to go over their quota too early. It looks like that's exactly what happened - they put the vast majority of people on hold until the very end, and now a HUGE wave of acceptances is going out.

After reading this thread I went straight to my App Check - the additional correspondence tab is there! I didn't even realize what the CBC email I got a couple days ago meant. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I think it's too late lol.

congrats to everyone who got the fat letter! if you don't mind, can someone tell me what was included in the packet?

i'm in the uk at the moment, and therefore have to wait until my mom (in the chicago suburbs) gets it AND fedex-es it over the pond to me... it'd greatly reduce my stress and anxiety level a notch (well, that is, if i do get the packet - agh)... thank you!

Fat packet in the mail today! First acceptance, feels incredible!

What a day for the mail to come early. Just so everyone knows, I also had the additional correspondence tab with nothing in it. Hopefully this means good news for others too.

I AM going to medical school after all! :-D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Now I only wish my mailman would come earlier too so I can get out of this "hyper anticipation mode"

Ditto! I finally got my acceptance letter in the mail -- what a relief.

Now, for the acceptance part. Can I accept the offer, pay the deposit, and still eventually withdraw my acceptance to attend another institution? Or... am I signing my soul away to UIC if I accept the offer?

Has anyone received confirmation of their UMed interview time? I do not yet know whether I am in the morning or afternoon session.

Nope, you will not be signing your life away; it is just to hold your seat. You will, however, be required to withdraw by May 15th, I believe. Schools catch on when they find out that you are holding onto multiple seats past a specific deadline.

congrats to everyone who got the fat letter! if you don't mind, can someone tell me what was included in the packet?

From what I remember, the important things within the packet included your site placement card and some technical requirements/acceptance forms that you have to sign. Aside from that, basic school information was included. i.e. financial aid, cost of attendance, your usual Army recruitment stuff, etc.

Hey, when is second look day? should I call the school and tell them I'm coming?

Second look day is FRIDAY! You had to register by last week, I believe. Perhaps you can call Linda Singleton and ask her if you can come anyway. Bribe her, and tell you that you will even bring your own lunch. 😎

And finally, congrats to all!!! I am excited to meet my potential future classmates! 😀

congrats to everyone who got the fat letter! if you don't mind, can someone tell me what was included in the packet?

The packet has 3 things you have to mail back: an acceptance form, a site placement card, and a technical skills form. Then there's also information about different programs (RMed, MSP, etc., including one from the army) and also immunization forms.

Man, first acceptance is an incredible feeling. I hope everyone on here has or will soon experience it.

Anyone have any recommendations/information about Rockford vs. Peoria? I haven't been to either campus, so any input would be great.

Oh, I had a CBC done for another school already...I just assumed each school wanted to do their own? Maybe then that's why I didn't get a CBC email? Who knows!! This is confusing! :meanie:
I haven't received a CBC email yet, but I did get an email from financial aid about turning in my verification forms and they assigned me an ID number. Did you get an email from them when you were accepted?

hey liz! i got everything from uic already except my CBC. i even have an official email address 😀
i think it's what someone else said...i was accepted to another school before uic and they sent me the CBC email. i think perhaps you only need to do it once. anyone else with multiple acceptances not get a cbc?

as quinn said, you're not signing your soul away...but why would you withdraw and attend another institution? 😉 stay with us!
(yeah, i know, i know, there are many factors that go into deciding which school to commit to other than just cool classmates!)

UNBELIEVABLE!!! Still nothing here 🙁

Am I the only person in the West Coast who hasn't received anything???!!!!! 😱

I can't wait 'till tomorrow! This is truly killing me!
🙁

Okay... So you guys are going to think I'm an idiot. In my excitement, I didn't carefully read the Safety and Technical Standards sheet. I just marked down all "yes," signed it, then sealed the envelope. Now, I'm wondering if "yes" means ready and able. I am afraid that "yes" means that I have problems.

Any help you guys can provide would be great.

Note to self: don't do anything stupid in excitement.
