did anyone hear anything today?

yesterday's twitter post made it seem like files would be closed today, and that some interview offers would still be made. no update on my end today. their twitter today was all fluff.
 
twitter this morning indicates closing of several hundred files... anyone hear anything?
 
couple hours ago:

"Tracker update coming in next 72 hours."
 
mine is still the same since August... "compare groups of applicants" hold status

Seems weird that file review would continue until "very late" January, then

Although the last interview date is Jan 22nd so...who knows?
 
when they say they are updating the tracker in the next 72 hours, does that mean that nobody's status will change at all until that big update? or just that the % acceptances given out won't change till then, but as they close individual files those will update instantly?

i am still waiting for one of the last 25 interviews (long shot i know), and am wondering if I should be happy that my status still says under review. i guess i'll know in the next couple days.
 
For those of you who sent updates did you do a letter style "dear michigan I love love love you sincerely, desperate me" or did you just type "I've been up to this" ?
 
i dropped some names, didn't say much in terms of an update. i probably should have...

So yeah. Has anyone been closed today? Then we'll know the answer to what u asked n what i was thinkin
 
So, I have not been rejected..nor have I received an interview invite. But, I did notice this morning that only 20 more interview invitations remain open...and, they canceled the 1/29 interview day. So, there are only two more opportunities (1/15 and 1/22 to interview). "Application Screening Completed Your application has been reviewed. At this point we are not able to offer you an interview. Additional reviews may take several months as we compare groups of applicants. Thank you for your patience."

Yep, I got the same...
I'm wondering if this means I still have a tiny chance, or my file has been closed. What in the world do they mean by "additional reviews may take several months"...

Yeah based on this post from earlier, I wouldn't have been too resigned by our screening complete status if we were earlier in the cycle. Doesn't sound too hot though with just two interview days left.
 
well I just submitted an update as a last ditch effort. Hopefully they'll see I'm persistent... haha
 
same message...guess i should change my hopeful career from "future medical school student" to "fortune teller" :laugh:
 
Same message here too. At least it's better than an all-out rejection?

Did anyone get a different message at all???
Maybe they have just been changing everyone's status to this, as they go through the applications.

Same message here. I bet you're right, and at some point they will automatically be able to close the files for everyone who has this message simultaneously. It's weird that they don't just straight up close the files though...
 
I got the "screening completed" status; but, it does look like there have been some "file closed" statuses, as well. I don't really know what the chances are due to the stats I found this morning (see above). I'm sure everyone else has been looking at this, as well. :scared:

i imagine that "file closed" is for people who had interviews already

the person who posted their file closed message hadn't had an interview before getting their file closed. Earlier in the season they said that people who had screening complete statuses were still eligible for interview. So there is a difference.

whoops. you're right.

why are they dragging this out? i have another interview on the 22nd anyway, this is ridiculous.

they're hardly dragging this out compared to other schools. Michigan gets done with reviews very early and at least they tell you where they are in the process as opposed to other schools where you have no idea how many spots are left.
 
So, with that clarification, do you think they are still considering all of us for the next two January interviews? It seems kind of odd, if so...but, I don't see any other dates listed...and, what's up with this "could be a few months"....?? Anyway, any thoughts? ... I agree that it seems dragged out at this point; but, guess it's nice to have the info. :xf:

btw, off-topic, I know, but I absolutely love Tim Lincecum. His stuff, especially for his build, is downright filthy.

In theory people should still be in the running unless their file has been closed. The few months thing is because it is a generic status that they've used since Day 1 so if you had that status in October it could have been "a few months", at this point, obviously there aren't a few months still ahead.

Ya'll are awful wound tight about all this.🙄 Anyone who thinks this is drawn out or w/e should go check out the minnesota thread where people were told they'd hear post interview in 4-6 week and then didn't hear for 12 weeks+

I got that about 5 months ago, lol 🙄
 
i didn't say anything about communication. their communication has been superb.

what I mean by dragging out is that it seems like the last day they are willing to interview is Jan 22, and there have only been 25 spots left since 12/18. the update yesterday shows that they have only offered 5 more interviews in the intervening period.

it's not like new applications are coming in. i realize they are busy with files of people who have already interviewed, but they know how expensive travel gets as you approach the date. they should just give out the final 20 interviews and be done with it.

Yeah, I am out of state... I guess I assumed they were somewhat friendly to OOS people based on the MSAR and since I know of someone from the Midwest that got in.

Anyway, heck yes for us still having a glimmer of hope at Michigan 👍!

yup got this also...DEFINITELY a rejection at this stage especially with only 25 interview spots and only 2 interview dates...yeah not going to happen for us..see you later umich..congrats to everyone else who got interviews and/or accepted!

.....why would they throw that in? thank you for your patience? i'm clearly waiting still? more reviews? they could have just said the first part and not the second
