I have been waiting to receive my password for the financial aid application form and it's already March 28th!
Now I am assuming that the admission people already sent it sometime when I wasn't paying attention 🙁 Where do you guys find it?

You must have missed the memo, March 25th got turned into April 1st. I know, I'm as disappointed as you are. :lame: More waiting...

So you don't fill out the application form until April 1st? I thought both FAFSA and the application form had to be submitted before March 31st!
😕😕😕

Oh, I thought you meant you were waiting for the financial aid packages to come out. Sorry, my bad.

The password should be the same as the one for your status page log-in. I think it's just your last name

I hope scholarship decisions are not only based on where else you've gotten in. I'm on a few waitlists and still waiting to hear back from some great schools. I guess that's what I get for applying relatively late.

They can see where else we've been accepted already?

I got the scholarship. Plus SPENDING MONEY. They are paying all living expenses and giving me a stipend. This is crazy!!! I hope others have similar luck.

Jk. April Fools!

No, where are we supposed to get it? As an update on our Wolverine page or as as email? They said it would be released by noon Eastern time. 😡

I received one by email--10k each year.

Congrats!

did you send them deposit? i just got an email saying that i need to send them deposit to process financial package...

argh why are they sending this email at 11:30ET...to tease me? 🙁

I just got this e-mail too - no merit aid email. Am I done for then? 🙁

did all those who received scholarships so far already pay their deposit?

No, I have not paid any deposits. I received the email this morning - $35,000/yr. Very generous offer, but not enough to sway my decision.

So, I withdrew - hopefully it goes quickly to someone else.

soapcat..i was torn between here and duke as well. I'm an OOS applicant and had signed up for second look, but i will go ahead and withdraw i guess. Pretty certain i'll go to duke now.

oh well, hello my (potential) classmate 🙂

Taffarel and Soapcat: count me in on the Duke vs. UMich decision. No scholarship for me either so Duke is looking like the likely choice.

See you guys next weekend?

I think I'll save my final decision until after UMich revisit though...

I feel so burned right now. Need-based better come through or it's adios Michigan.

So no email=no scholarship???

thx. hopefully financial aid kicks in at harvard or thats gonna be a huge financial swing

aDreamer + Soapcat-

See you guys there - I guess i should probably PM you my name before second look. But yeah 99 percent i'll go to duke.

Just got $25,000/year... from Northwestern. 🙄

Thanks for nothing UMich.

where are you going?

I don't know at this point. I was set on Michigan until this mess hit. I know it can't be Northwestern because my fiancee isn't in at any schools in Chicago. Thinking maybe Pittsburgh, or possibly Iowa. 😕

Don't give up on Michigan yet, Stein, they could still send you free money later!:xf:

Later might be too late. My fiancee's deadline to commit to a graduate school is April 15th. Two weeks.

That's tough, hope everything works out for you. I could definitely empathize with your frustration at UMich's response to your email.

I fall into the middle income criteria - so HMS is going to be cheaper than Michigan. Plus I still got my full-tuition offer at Pritzker (a school which I really love).

Only a full-tuition + stipend offer might have enticed me to attend Michigan. Even with that I still might not have done it. I love the school, but I know I will go crazy living in Ann Arbor. It is too small, and big-ten sports is definitely not my thing. And four years is a long time. It was just fairer to the school and other applicants to withdraw rather than string everyone along.

yea def. great options. good luck

I got the Dean's Merit Scholarship - full tuition for 4 years.

I'm still in shock, my decision (which was already difficult) now seems nearly impossible!

Good luck to everyone else still waiting - hopefully some of these awards will be recycled to those who have yet to hear!

where do you locate your UMID? I don't see it on the acceptance letter or on my status page..

Has anyone received their fin aid package? I'm still waiting on mine. And if you have received it is it better or worse than you expected?

At UMich, what is considered a good scholarship offer for OOS?

That is, net scholarship/grant offer that does not have to be repaid, as opposed to loans?

As of now, UMich looks much more expensive even with such scholarships/grants than an equivalent or better IS med school with no such scholarships at all. My IS choice would be vastly less expensive once scholarships/grants are factored in.

Does UMich overcharge OOS so it can subsidize its IS med students?

You're pretty much going to pay through the nose to go to any OOS school unless you get lucky with a nice scholarship/grant. But yes, my IS med school with no financial aid considered is quite a bit cheaper than UMich with the financial package included. It's probably part of why they overaccept OOS so much... out of that large pool of acceptees, a small portion are going to be willing to dig a nice, deep hole of debt to go to a school like Michigan.
