i called today and they said they already sent them out and a few more will be sent at the end of this week or beginning of next??

i am confused!!!

Hey,

I called today again to ask about the campus exploration day and pre-matches. They said, none had been sent out since the initial batch. I also asked if they'd be sending out any more pre-match offers? They said that they were not sure.

Finally, they won't be in the office from this Saturday until the beginning of January...[so if they are sending more, it would have to be by this Friday] [] = my assumption.

Pretty confused here as well...I NEED to get into UTMB...it was my only interview!

I also called and spoke to Katie Lipsmeyer and she said basically the same thing...
-No pre-match offers had been sent out since Nov 13.
-They weren't sure if more were going to be sent out.
-If more were sent out, it'd be this week most likely.

P.S. - Am I the only one who gets a teensy bit bummed when 5pm hits and my inbox is empty? :laugh:

Does anybody know if Dec 4th was the last interview date? Maybe they're waiting to finish all interviews before sending out any more offers? Maybe they sent out too many on the 13th? Who knows!?!?!?!!

Its going to be an extremely long 3 days....

Lets hope we hear something by Friday.

Evidently, there's one more interview day. I guess they added another one at some point.

And yes, yes indeed. I really hope we hear something.

If my memory is correct though, they gave out 400 pre-matches on Nov. 13th.... Unless a lot of people have turned them down... I don't know. Don't want to be a Debbie Downer cuz I'm still hopeful :luck:

Yep, still extremely hopeful. I guess we'll just have to wait this one out. Speculation won't get us too far.

just to let everyone who is waiting know, i was accepted today (12/16) and interviewed on 12/4

That being said, I'm still telling my pastor-in-training brother to put in a couple good words on our behalf with the big man himself...

Course, then that makes me feel like I'm talking to the Godfather, and asking for a favor "on this, (almost) the day of [his son's] birth."

I'm mixing my metaphors, but you get the point...:laugh:

funny thing is if I do get in I will be looking back a year from now and telling myself "why the hell did I want THIS for xmas!" :laugh: haha

Can't believe they sent out like 400 pre-matches that day. Should've saved some for us, eh?

True that. My jaw dropped when they said 400... I was POSITIVE I'd misheard but lol nope.

Little did they know rockstar candidates were lining up to interview 😀

i can't believe they sent out 400..

but you know what...the fact that they added ANOTHER interview day makes me feel like they have plenty of room for US! I am sure a good chunk of those 400 released their acceptances...

lets just hope so!..i mean why the heck would they add another interview day? thats another 50-60 kids!

i can't take this anymore
it's better to sleep the night away than to dwell over UTMB

my stats are the average stats it takes to get into UTMB. ivy league grad.

i hope all you waiting to get in hear some good news soon. i dont really like the town of galveston, but what a great school. best of luck to everyone!
 
So, seeing as how today is the last interview date, we should expect that more prematches will be sent out after those applicants are reviewed, right? I called yesterday, and Katie Lipsmeyer told me that a small number of prematches were sent on 12/16, and when I asked her if more would be sent, she said that she wasn't sure. But it seems only logical that more would be sent, given what I just said above....
 
So has anyone here who interviewed at UTMB received a pre-interview rejection from TT el paso? I thought it was the strangest thing because I have interviewed at every tx med school except TT lubbock and el paso, and then today *wham* el paso sends me a "thank you, but no" email!! How can a school like UTSW consider you a strong candidate and invite you to interview, but then el paso decides you're not even good enough to talk to?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you but let's try to remember that each school has a separate set of criteria that they are looking for when they invite students to interview.

Also... don't try to understand the process it will just give you a massive headache. 😉

Yup, also the whole process = huge crap shoot.

Maybe thats exactly why El Paso passed on you, they thought you would get in elsewhere and wouldn't attend their school.
