Got the same thing - what does this mean? really? I'll send an update....

I don't know but at least it's not a rejection email!

I wonder if it's like "hey we have a lot of crap to sort through, we'll see if you aren't too lazy to send us some updates (hint hint)"

Are you sending it in the email or as a .doc attachment?

sent it in the email since its <1 pg. I also previously sent them an update before this notice about 2 weeks ago. it may be a sorta hint hint send something if interested, or not who knows.

i got the same email and sent them an update (just my grades from this semester)

Did you send your transcript or just listed the grades?

just told them the classes, the grade i got, and then a couple sentences about how i'm still interested in the school.

Hey did anyone who interviewed Nov. 12 or after find out anything yet? I thought for sure there would be some news given to us by now?

I just got that email about them continuing to review my file. Whatever. I'm not sending them an update.

I was there end of Nov and they told us we would hear back next year with the holidays and what not. Side note, I loved Toledo!

Hmmm...interesting and depressing. Is the 12th considered the end of Nov. though? I had such high hopes for hearing something back before the holidays so that my mind could at least have some peace ya know?

I should probably just accept 😎

How important do you think the update is?

I don't know if I should email one or not?

if you have something to update why not? It may be debatable how useful it is but it certainly wont hurt it can only help. I think its got to mean something since they emailed the entire app pool. No other school i applied to did this. Most schools just dont care and are happy with rejecting you later😛

First time posting on this thread. I have had some success in Texas but so far none in the great state of Ohio where I grew up. I just got the update email and was wondering if y'all think it makes much of a difference to the ADCOMs. I don't have much to say other than a grade update and I am still interested

my interview here is not till march, do you guys think its rude to call them and ask if there have been any withdrawals? I would really like to get an earlier date.

Just got the waitlist letter. Pretty bummed. On the letter it says that they will prioritize the alternate list in May or June but then someone previously said there is a high and low waitlist...? Should I call and ask anyway?

sorry 🙁 If you don't mind me asking, when did you interview?

Hey, does anybody know how much rent generally cost in Toledo for a one-bedroom apartment that is 10-15mins away from the med school campus?

Depends how nice you want it to be, but they range from ab 350-850 bucks. Most decent 1BRs are probably closer to the 450-600 range. If you found a roommate, your rent could easily stay below 400/person in a 2BR. Lots of good options in the area. I rented a gorgeous, newly built 3 BR ab 15 mins from campus a couple years ago that ran us only 340 apiece.

I got an interview today, but it's not till April 😱

Yikes! Glad I got it though. Complete 9/9, and I sent an update by the way (when they requested around xmas time).

This scares me! Hahaha does that mean they are all out of interview dates until April?

They've started scheduling interviews now? Man, I'm really freaking now cos I haven't been called yet!

anyone have any upcoming interviews this week or next? Also anyone know when the committee meets to make post interview decisions? How long has it been taking people to find accept or waitlist?

I'm not sure when the committee meets, but it usually takes about 3 weeks to hear news post-interview.

Got an interview invite the other day, complete in mid september, didn't send in the update letter.

Got an interview for feb 11th since i think 3rd/4th wk in november but got an email yesterday if i wanted an earlier date.
They gave me an option as early as next wk but i have a lot of preparing to do so i chose Jan 25th.

Mines pretty late too, I am hoping that we aren't interviewing for waitlist spots, I am really counting on Toledo

same (both approx completion date and interview date)! anyone know when the last interview date will be this year or what has traditionally been the acceptance rate of those who interview? Definitely very excited about this one...

Just wanted to get advice on housing in Toledo. What are some good places to check out? I am most likely looking for a 2BR. Also, do any studtents buy (like a condo or town home)? I would something nice because I would like to just move once.

Will be leaving this thread.. finally rejected pre-interview. After I sent in the xmas update. Complete September. Good luck all!

I am considering canceling my interview here, but am not sure yet. Anyone that has interviewed here or currently attends the school able to give me insight into strong positives or negatives about the school and the surrounding area? Is Toledo extremely rural/out-in-the-middle-of-nowhere? Are students relatively close-knit? Are lectures pod-casted? Is grading P/F? How many hours a day are first & second year students in class?

Having already attended several interviews, I'm running low on funds, but I don't want to cancel if there's a chance that I might actually really like Toledo. Thanks in advance.

when were you complete, when did you get your invite, and when are you supposed to interview?

Steeplechase Apts, Country Club Apts, The Oasis at Inver West, The Cloisters, Woodridge Apts, Fox Chase, Oakwood Apts... I could go on, but this is a good starting point. I have lived in/know people who have lived in all of these places. They're all decent and within 15 mins of the health science campus.

My completion & interview invite dates are posted in this thread somewhere. Don't have the info in front of me and don't feel like looking it up to post it again. I've decided to keep my interview though. It's during the week of 1/25.

I wrote a kinda lengthy response to this, but it didnt post correctly--here's the abbreviated version:

1. I am an accepted student who has lived in Toledo for my entire life. Toledo is NOT a rural city, but its night life does leave a lot to be desired. However, Toledo has plenty enough to keep a busy med student entertained, and it is also within easy driving distance of more exciting cities such as Ann Arbor, Windsor, Detroit, Columbus, Chicago or Cleveland.

2. I have many friends who have attended or are attending this school--they all agree that the student body is very close and supportive. It fosters a "we're all in this together" attitude.

3. Lectures are all recorded as MP3s. My tour guides made it clear that lectures are optional.

4. Grading is sort of P/F... you are given an actual percentage grade, but there are "high pass", "Pass" and "fail" ranges which are what really matters on the day to day. The percentages are pretty much just for rankings. If you fail a test, you have to attend a tutoring type class in the evenings with other people who sucked it up on that test. The idea is to make sure it doesn't happen again. All test questions are formatted like they are on Step 1, which I thought was a plus. Also, you get to take your boards on campus there since it's an approved test site. Kinda cool I guess.

5. Can't find the sample schedule they gave us on interview day regarding hours/day students spend in class, but I remember it seeming pretty standard 8-3 or so depending on the day.

Hope this helps!

Hey thank you for the info. I really appreciate the response. 🙂 Congrats on your acceptance!

anyone who interviewed in december hear anything back yet?
No. I interviewed on Dec 10th... this Thursday is Week 6 though, so maybe we will hear something? I heard from another person that she was told we would not hear until Feb. due to the holidays.
December interviewees... keep us posted when you get a decision!! 🙂
