Thanks! Booking a trip for Toledo from DC is a nightmare though. Anyone know of a bus or other transport that runs from Detroit's DTW to Toledo?

Hey, I'm a current MS-2 at UTCOM... congrats on your interview. I don't know of a bus between DTW and Toledo. For my interview at UT, I also flew into DTW and rented a car. This was a bit more feasible for me because I am an older non-trad and car rental is easier if you are over 25. I think there are some companies that will rent to you if you are younger though, as long as you are over 21. Also, look into whether your university has any travel deals with any companies. At the school where I was doing my master's, we had car rental deals w/ Hertz. My car rental in DTW was super cheap because of that.

Thanks! Does anyone know what the chances of getting admitted vs. waitlisted are at this point?

I believe Toledo has told applicants in the past that they accept applicants from every interview day, which may mean that you still have a fair chance of getting accepted at this point. Good luck.

I flew from NYC to Philly to DET. Rented a car, given that I was 21, they charged me extra and drove the hour to Toledo. It was much cheaper this way then flying straight into Toledo. Then on the way back it was Det to DC to NYC

I remember debating whether to fly to toledo or drive from detroit and in the end i decided to fly into toledo. the difference between renting a car for a couple days after flying in from detroit and flying into toledo is very small, especially if you are under 25. if you stay at the hilton on campus, the shuttle will pick you up and drop you off for free. I didn't think the $30 or so that I might have saved would have been worth the hassle of driving and adding extra potential stress if anything was to go wrong.

Accepted!!! (email)

I interviewed on 3/18

Congratulations! They already made decisions on the 3/18 interviewees huh. I guess they skipped me or I'll probably be receiving a rejection via snail mail.

just know you are not the only one in that position...i am still waiting too. it really sucks doesn't it. Considering the fact that I feel like all of the acceptances have been going out first and then waitlists/rejections. I interviewed b4 you and still have nothing...my hopes are completely ruined 🙁

Thanks for the advice on traveling.

Also, do any OOSers know if you can apply for IS tuition after 12months?

No prob. Yup, by the way they make it sound during the presentation on interview day it's very common and easy to become IS right after the 1st year.

Man that's a tough choice. Wright St. just feels like home to me... I didn't get that comfortable feeling at Toledo, though I did enjoy my visit. Since I was there on match day, I got to see what kind of national reputation Toledo has earned over the last few years (the match list spoke for itself!!). Rotations in Toledo, Detroit, UMich, Cbus probably >>>> Wright St. clerkship sites.

I'm gonna have to talk to friends who had to pick between the two and see what their thought process was. There's no clear cut fave.... all I'm feeling right now is I'm lucky to have to make this decision 🙂

.... Also waiting on 2 other Ohio schools to maybe get me off the WL :xf::xf::xf:

I kind of wish I had taken the opportunity to interview at Toledo. I was looking at their 2010 match list the other day and you are right, it sure is impressive! It was one of my top choices (along with OSU, Cincy, and Wright...basically just wanted to stay instate) when I started but they didn't invite me to interview until like late December/early January and at that point I had already been accepted at Wright and basically was sick of interviewing to the point where the only school I would have interviewed at that hadn't contacted me yet was OSU, so I turned it down. Oh well.

Yes, you can apply for IS tuition after you have lived here for 12 months - very easy to do. Also, for anyone who may be married, if your spouse gets a full-time job here, you can apply for IS tuition IMMEDIATELY. One of my classmates did that.

Congrats/good luck to all :luck:

will they tell you your status if you call them? good luck and don't give up :luck::xf:

I interviewed on March 22 and got accepted today through email. This is my first in-state acceptance so I am super excited.

Congratulations. Once again - people who have been accepted, don't forget about the facebook group...well really both of them - University of Toledo College of Medicine Class of 2014 AND UTCOM Class of 2014

does toledo make all decisions about every one who interviewed on a certain day at once? or could the waiting drag on for some longer than others??

Thats what I am hoping for but it doesn't seem likely. Doesn't make much sense to bring the committee together multiple times to vote for the same set of applicants

Although I have no direct insight into Toledo's process, some schools have a set # of applicants that they review in an admissions committee meeting. Depending on the # of interviewees at each day, this could result in the situation you have described. I know that this very process happens at The University of Cincinnati, for example.

I'm looking into renting a 2 bedroom apartment around the school and was wondering if any other female student is interested in getting an apartment together? Let me know if you're interested!

Wright State was way better in my opinion that Toledo. Better facilities, 7 top notch hospitals and a laid back atmosphere. Withdrew from Toledo and probably going to not stay on cinci's WL b/c I honestly liked it better than cinci too.

My school's better than your school na na na na naaa naaa!

Alternate today, interviewed 3/29... %@#$!!!

Given how my second interview went, I am not surprised but very disappointed as this is my #4 WL out of 5 interviews 🙁

Sorry to hear that... but with 4 waitlists, you could likely get an acceptance out of one of them.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. WL are unpredictable as I learned last year when I was waiting all of summer to get in. I am glad to have 1 acceptance so far tho but it's just that feeling that you've spent so much time, money, and effort on a school only to be put on hold with uncertain results. I can't help but feel some dislike for a school that puts me on a wl that I otherwise wouldn't feel.

Anyways, good luck to everyone who is waiting. BTW, for everyone still waiting, the admissions office is very nice. I found out when they will review my file and found out my status by just calling in and asking.

Good luck on the wl.... I'm still waiting to hear, and appreciate you updating us on progress!

Anyone have any good news today? Really hoping to hear something. Interviewed 4/1, just after daddocca.... don't wanna call and harrass the admissions office, but would love to know if no news is bad news...

*good luck everyone*

Haha I don't think I was "harrassing" too much! This is our future and we have put a lot on the line to get here, they understand that and can spare a couple minutes to look up our status. Anyways, have you heard anything yet? I'd think by now they would have reviewed your interview group. Gluck!

No, no, no... I hope you didn't think I meant that you were harrassing them! Definitely didn't mean for you to take that personally, dadocca! I just had this hilarious vision of me calling the admissions office and the minute someone answered, not letting them off the phone til they told me SoMEThING ... this waiting is so horribly painful. I haven't been admitted anywhere yet...just 4 waitlists, which yes, is a great thing, but...getting admitted to Toledo could change things for me... well, to answer your question, no I haven't heard anything yet. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks exactly. No one from my interview day seems to be posting so I don't know if they've heard, and ill be waitlisted or rejected or...if I might hear soon. Ill probably call tomorrow if I haven't heard, since it will be 4 weeks then. Gluck to any sdn lurkers from my day. 🙂

I interviewed April 5th. When I called the OoA on Monday they told me I should hear something Thursday of this week. Good luck to everyone

Sounds like, based on this thread, it means email today=good, snail mail in a couple days=waitlist, for those of us who interviewed in early april... good luck all!

That's pretty much how it works. I suppose they don't like to give you bad news any sooner than they need to.

Waitlisted today..I'm sure everyone was curious. So, waitlist #5...here we go!

Withdrew here today, good luck to everyone. UTCOM is a great school.
