Just got a call from Dean Dodson and was accepted off the waitlist! :luck: to everyone else who is waiting. Now I have to decide between here and UVA....any thoughts?

Well, they are the sameish tuition wise (well OOS at UVA). I obviously picked WashU, but they are both great places. You can't go wrong, but if you are IS at UVa, I'd follow the money. How long do you have to make a decision?

I'm OOS for UVA, but I got a $27,000 scholarship bringing tuition down to about $20,000. No info on WashU fin aid yet...I have to decide by Friday. 😱

What are some of the things you like about WashU?

Facilities, super nice people, my future classmates I met at second look, research opportunities, student-run musical 🙂D), etc.
 
For those accepted off the list, did you call / write Dean Dodson, your interviewer, or the committee beforehand?

Oh, and congratulations.
 
Hmm.. just got an email asking me if I want to keep my application open for consideration. I'm sure lots of people got the email, but I already withdrew a couple months ago. Did other people that withdrew get it too? Did they just send it to everyone without regard to whether or not you withdrew or stayed on the waitlist? Or maybe it was a glitch, cause when I click on the link they give to update my status, it just takes me to the normal application homepage. Trying to figure out whether I'm getting some kind of mulligan or it's probably just a mistake.
 
i got it too...darn i was hoping it was something significant 😀

I called the office and they said that there must be a glitch in the system. It sounded like they meant to send that email, just not to everyone that got it. I also received the email and I was recently accepted off the waitlist (almost had a heart attack! lol) So I guess just ignore it unless you ARE still waiting to hear from them regarding a decision. But at least this means that anticipate more acceptances... Good luck to all still waiting!

I'm pretty sure their server crashed.
 
I got it today as well, and am on the waitlist. My heart about stopped hoping that it was good news!
 
I got it too. Does anyone know if Wash U makes cuts to the waitlist? I don't remember if they said anything about it or not.

I got the email and had withdrawn from the waitlist earlier as well
 
I got a call about 3 hours ago!!!!! I have a week to decide if I want to attend, but the only reason I didn't accept right away was because I was (and still am) in shock. OMGGGG! 🙂

Thanks!!!! Can you send me the links? I tried to join one. Haha. Omg, it still feels fake. And my status page hasn't changed... maybe it works differently right now though since I can only be "accepted" at one school?

I do what I can. 😀 And now that you know who I am, I feel like I should get to know who you are! If you requested to be in the "Accepted Students" group, I'll got let you in but I think there were three people who requested to join today, so I still don't know who you are!!!!!
 
Yo. Anybody know when and how we get a room at Olin Hall?

And who's excited for August?.....but still glad we have two more months to relax before school 😎

Congrats!!! I was also accepted off the waitlist (believe me... the shock doesn't wear off very quickly) and the opening page once I log onto wumsapply took a few days to change. Eventually you will able to pay the deposit on that page (or by check). Your "status page" never actually changes tho.

And for ClarKent... if you email Teresa Holloway <[email protected]> she will send you an info packet about Olin.

Yeah, I'm still pretty much in shock. I dropped my phone in the toilet when I got home from work because I was so jittery... and my phone is still broken SO it must have been real. :laugh:
 
I was encouraged by the recent posting about getting off the waitlist, so i sent a letter of interest to wash U this morning by email. Two hours later, I had a missed call. I called back, got transferred to Dr. Dodson directly, and received words of congratulations!

One letter of interest, two hours of waiting, and I'm coming to Wash U!

Very Niccce. I think it actually pays to send your letter of interest a little late because apparently my letter of interest wasn't even read, and I sent it a long time back.

I had sent a letter of intent like a week after I was notified that I was wait-listed...is there a way to find out if my letter was ever actually read? Because if it wasn't, maybe it wouldn't hurt to send another one?

I don't think it would hurt to send another letter. It would certainly show your continued interest in the school. Say somewhere in the letter "...as I mentioned in the previous letter of interest...." to indicate that this is your second letter.
 
After the last email went out on 5/18, I sent another brief update and said that I was still very interested... and I got accepted 5/20. I don't know if it was related, though.
 
Congrats to all of you who got in!

I suppose only a few more spots will open up... still hoping though.

IMO....while Olin certainly could use some mild renovations (at least the rooms and bathrooms.....the penthouse area is sick!), i'd rather pay for the convenience of living in Olin.

to each his own. i'm over the dorm type of living. i also relish a good find on craigslist.
