Is June 1 the earliest someone from the alternate list should expect to hear?

according to last year's thread the first person on sdn got off the alternate list May 28th, so last week of May/first week of June is a good guess for this year

I was wondering if someone could tell me if Creighton accepts Letters of Interest and/or Update Letters post-interview but before a decision is made.

I assume they would accept letters after you have been waitlisted, but I didn't know if it was acceptable to send letters before the final decision.

If anyone could let me know, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much, and good luck to all!! 🙂

I sent it all... thank yous, letter of interest and update letter (even though I had just updated a month before my interview!) all post-interview / pre-acceptance. Creighton is very receptive to receiving additional materials for your file and I've heard they love hearing from applicants. Good luck to you!

anybody who interviewed around february 11th hear anything?

I called today and they told me I was accepted! 😍 I interviewed Feb 4th.

Congrats on the new acceptances!!! 👍👍👍

If there are any Creighton students (or other knowledgable folk) out there I am curious how you all are spending the summer between your M1 and M2 years. I know there are great programs like ILAC and CURA but what about research opportunities at Creighton or even at UNMC? Not that I am fully intentional on using those months to research but I would like to know how Creighton students use their time.

Thanks!
🙂

Rejected today via snail mail. No interview invite. OOS, 35 and ~3.7 cGPA and ~3.8 sGPA. Bummer.

WLed. Interviewed 2/11

I interviewed that day also!! However, I haven't heard from them yet. How were you notified?

Does anyone know how they notify for acceptances, waitlists, and rejections? Looking back through this thread, it seems they call for acceptances, but do they also email?

Also, has anyone been rejected post-interview, or has everyone been waitlisted?

Thanks in advance for the help!! 🙂

I called in to check my status a while back and they said I was placed on the alternate list, which is Creighton's wait list... Then I got a letter in the mail asking if I accept my spot on the alternate list. Of course I said yes!!! lol
Unfortunately, Creighton does not look at the wait list until late May, even after May 15 has passed... so we WLed ppl will have to continue to wait 🙁

Does creighton even have any spots left in the class?

Hey everyone,

I've been absent from this thread for the better part of the year, but hopefully I can answer any lingering questions that you may have. For those that are waitlisted, I know it sucks but if you really liked Creighton, try not to get too down and SEND UPDATES! You can call and find out if there was any specific reason why you were waitlisted -- if it was grades/shadowing/volunteer work and you have done something to improve any of those areas since you submitted amcas/last update, then fire off another update. Seriously, the admissions committee wants updates if you have them.

It's true that waitlisters likely won't begin hearing back until May, but keep in mind that this is only the second year that the class has been increased in size to 152. You may think that would mean that they'd be accepting more and therefore your chances are slimmer, but my sense is that they are playing it a little more conservatively, so waitlist does not equal rejection.

As for those who are still interviewing, we will still accept people from these last few groups, so if you're scheduled to interview and are on the fence because you don't think it's likely to happen, I would still make the trip. And for those who are still making the trip, STAY WITH A HOST. It doesn't make much sense not to, as I've posted somewhere back in this thread.

Finally, as a fancy M4, I wanted to report that Creighton had a great, great match this year. I've posted the list in the match list thread, which you can find by clicking here.

Match day was an awesome day that found many people just overwhelmed with happiness. If you're bored and have an hour to kill, you can watch the video of the festivities on the interwebs, and if you do so, note how happy people are for each person -- our class, like every other class here, is very close and most people know where others want to go/what they want to do, so the applause you here is genuine excitement for friends that have worked hard the past 4 years. Here's the link for the article/video link: Matchy goodness.

Finally, for anyone that wants to see what the match looks like in map form, here's an interactive map showing where Creighton will be sending students next year. Creighton 2011 Match Map

Feel free to PM me with any questions (and for those that have already done so, I'll be replying soon!).

does anybody get rejected post interview? anybody know for sure and how many, if any?

At my interview they said nobody gets rejected outright post-interview. So if you make it to the interview, then you are guaranteed to be at least waitlisted.

It's rare, but post interview rejections do happen, at least they happened the last few years. The no-rejection rule may be a policy change under Dr. Quinn's leadership, but if it is, I haven't heard it during any of the committee meetings. With that said, I also never know who ultimately gets accepted or waitlisted because there is a second meeting later in the week that students do not attend.

Thats ridiculous that nobody gets rejected post interview. I think they said they interview 650-700, and accepted 300-350. that leaves at least 300 kids on a waitlist. I'm sure at least 2/3 of that number has no chance of getting in, why make them wait it out?

Missed the call yesterday from Mr.Jarmon... Called in this morning and was accepted!!! OOS
Interviewed 2/18

Can't wait to meet everyone in the fall! I love Creighton! 😍

Does anyone know what the deadline is on interview decisions? I have my interview tomorrow (the last interview date) and was wondering when I could expect to hear back? Thanks!

8-10 weeks was when I heard back...

I heard back in 5 weeks, but I would say 6-8 weeks is the norm. Good luck!

Hey all-

Just wanted to let you know that I withdrew my acceptance today. I loved the school and it was a first choice for me, but in January my dad was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, so I am going to go to a school closer to my home to save money and to be closer to my family.

I hope one of you on the waitlist gets my spot soon! Best of luck to everyone!

Angie

I received an email yesterday asking me to click on a link and to give them information concerning a background check.

2. Enter the Code: CERTAAMC2011 in the Application Station Code field."

I was very leery about it, thinking it may be spam or phishing email, but then my mind started working and realized I may have been accepted to Creighton.... I called and talked to a Creighton secretary, she told me that I had been accepted, they were going to be calling me soon with the good news (though I have yet to receive any call from Creighton).
Now I have a big decision to make, Creighton or UNMC? I have been accepted to both (I am a NE resident with 3.86 GPA, 27M MCAT, 12 years experience in Ultrasound/Radiology) What would you guys do?

Congratulations.

They are both good schools, but UNMC has superior research opportunities.
Is cost an issue for you? Creighton medical students rank amongst the highest in the nation in the amount of loan debt they accrue. As an in-state resident UNMC probably won't crush the piggy bank as much.

You should probably look at things like curriculum, facilities, etc. and go by where you'd think you'd be a better fit.

Thanks for the advice! Cost is somewhat an issue being I have a family to support and a quicker turn around to making the future brighter for them the better, though a good learning environment is important too. Is a laid back learning environment worth 120k????

withdrew acceptance today. Creighton was wonderful and Omaha is very beautiful and friendly, I loved the mid west atmosphere but out of state tuition is too expensive for me. Hope one of you guys get my spot

As far as acceptances go, this thread has been pretty quiet lately...anyone know when the next round of acceptances are due to come out?

Well for anyone who interviewed on the last couple of interview dates (late March) it sounds like acceptances are starting to go out. There was someone who reported to have interviewed March 18th and got their acceptance last Friday so it sounds like they are on a shorter time scale than normal. As for WListers I'm not sure

Anyone know if there is a particular day of the week that acceptances are typically given out / phone calls are made to accepted applicants? Or it is more or less a toss up?

It's my understanding that the Admissions Committee meets on Thursday and Garland Jarmon will call you either Friday or the beginning of the next week if you are accepted. Waitlisted people will usually get a letter sometime the next week.

So I decided to decline my acceptance to Creighton. I hope one of you get my spot. God Bless!!!!!

Hey all! I just wanted to let you know I've been following your thread; congrats to those accepted and good luck to those still waiting. Creighton is probably my most realistic top choice for this upcoming cycle. I hope I can join you guys in Omaha next year!

I received financial aid information from Creighton a couple of weeks ago, however, I am still undecided about which school I will for sure be attending.

Does anyone know if I must accept/decline Creighton's financial aid before a certain date, and what that date might be? Additionally, if I accept the package from Creighton, what happens if I change my mind and end up attending some other school?

Creighton is my top choice at the moment, but I don't know if I am supposed to accept a financial aid offer from their school if I am not 100% sure I am attending.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!

Has anyone who interviewed March 26th heard anything? Received an acceptance or anything in the mail?

I interviewed on the 26th and haven't heard anything either.

Interviewed 3/25 and no news yet. Creighton's closed today for Easter Monday. Maybe we'll hear by the end of the week? If not, from looking back at earlier posts, it looks like you can call in and check the status of your application over the phone...
