I just joined because I only recently found this site. I joined because I wanted to know when and how others were receiving interviews and acceptances. I also wanted to know what my chances are for getting into medical school (in the what are my chances thread). I figured that telling others I received an interview would help others in my similar situation. Hopefully that answers your question.

nice congrats. yeah i mean im not really angry at all, but it does get annoying when i see people who just say they have interviews and dont contribute or post that much. i've just learned that this is a community. but ya it helps when you post when you were complete/stats. welcome to sdn though, a very good resource!

just spoke to a very nice lady in admissions. She said that most of the people that they interview and eventually accept were placed on hold/re-review at one time or another during the application process. So! All is not lost! 🙂 Although a little bummed at first, I am glad there is still hope!

Thanks tigerlily58 and swimerbear for calling. I got put on hold for re-review on 8/31 and was kinda bummed about it. Hopefully we get taken off and offered an interview later!

Yeah that happened to mine too, and it DIDN'T happen last year. I'm not sure if it means anything significant however. It may just be that this year, GW is willing to take on more updates in order to help in them in their "re-reviewing", especially if EVERYONE'S status has been updated to include this statement.

I wonder how long they are going to look at my thing again.

You don't have to send a picture with the secondary. Though if you're invited to interview, you have to send them a picture.

USC, they're actually pretty fast with everything considering the time of year. Yea send your rec letters and then they may have everything completed by this Friday. Mine didn't take that long. Status check - may be in their email or find it through their website. They'll tell you how to register.

I just had my interview at GW this week and it was pretty laid back. It was really more about us learning what the school has to offer. The day consisted of a tour around the med school and some of the hospital (which is only a few years old and seems pretty high tech), some short speeches by one of the deans, financial aid, and student opportunities, and then 2 blind interviews. One student interview and one faculty interview. The student body appears to be supportive of each other and the students seemed pretty happy. DC is an amazing city too. It was an overall good experience.

It depends when your interviews are scheduled. Most people were done by about 1pm.

Someone was saying earlier that they called the school and was told that a lot of people get accepted from the "on hold" re-review status. I am not sure how true that is but I am guessing its like a "small pool" that they have otherwise we would have been rejected.

I think the better question to ask is how many have been reject? It seems everyone just gets put on the re-review status.

Oh man...

I was complete September 8, and I have not heard anything yet. My status is still "Your file is now complete and is under review." AHHHH.......I'm so nervous. Maybe tomorrow I will hear about an interview invite....

How do we know a school downloaded our letters. Everyone always talks about checking amcas to see if the school downloaded their letters. Where is this function in AMCAS? My letters were available today so how long would it take the school to download them?

usc, some schools download your schools very quickly, some could be automatic I think. however, some schools may take longer like a week. if you go on amcas to letters you can see if they've been sent or not to them. it should say something abuot being uploaded into amcas.

Thanks for the response. I am on AMCAS and it just says received next to each letter. I always assumed this meant AMCAS received them, not the schools. Am I off the mark or looking at the wrong thing?

I'll check in a bit to see if it should eventually say "letters sent" but I think you're fine. But like I said some schools download them like first day they're sent and others are slower thus delaying the "completion" time. but it's cool i wouldnt really worry about it at all.

ya some school downloaded them the next day and for some it took a week or so i was complete at GWU 6 days after AAMC received my letters so yea it can take a little while

I know I have mentioned this before, but for those of you who are on hold for re-review you are NOT rejected. I applied last year in mid or late september and was placed on hold and eventually interviewed. Don't give up hope.

yeah it's not an automatic reject. but it just becomes more difficult to obtain an interview.

They do. I am actually staying with one tomorrow. But, it is an informal program, so you won't find info anywhere on the website.

I just emailed the admissions office and asked, and they gave me a contact email. Unfortunately, I do not still have that to pass onto you. Maybe someone on here does? Or, email/call the admissions office. I'm sure they are used to the question.
