Congrats to you and to everyone else who has been accepted!

Did you receive an email from AAMC requesting a criminal background check? The email says I've either been waitlisted or accepted by some unknown school and I'm trying to figure out which school it is.

I interviewed Nov 19 and still havent heard anything

and you received a CALL, did you also get an email???

I got the background check email as well. Although I'm not sure if it was Davis or one of the other schools i've been accepted to or waitlisted at...

If you go onto your amcas application and look at the schools you applied to you can tell which do the criminal background check through AAMC. If you look at the schools you interviewed at and it says CBC next to it, it could possibly be from that school...

Just wanted to say I'm in the exact same boat- kindof annoying that people who got invites later could schedule earlier interview dates, but what can you do.

Oh well, see you on the 11th!

Interesting. I got that email yesterday as well. All the schools I interviewed at do the CBC with amcas, so I'm beginning to wonder if it's Davis...

I have not received any emails from AAMC requesting a background check... interesting.

But yes, after I got the call, I also got an acceptance email from Davis.

Rejected today. No e-mail, I was just checking the online system.

I had my secondary application complete 10/11/2010. Took them almost three months to decide that they didn't want to interview me!

Not surprised, since I am officially considered out of state.

Still, I was hoping for some leeway since I lived in California for the first 22 years of my life!

Bummed, but good luck to the rest of you!

It wasn't Davis. Bittersweet. I'll have to keep waiting.
 
Does Davis accept pre-interview updates???? If so, do they prefer to receive through email or the message center?? I'd appreciate any info.
 
This is how I feel/have felt about my Davis experience:

After submitting primary: 😕. Getting secondary: 😀. Getting an interview: :highfive:. After the MMI: 😱, :cry:, +pissed+, and +pity+ (in no particular order). Don't ask about MMI, as we cannot discuss it. Good luck to everyone else.

To all who have interviewed at Davis already...Who did you guys write the thank you letters to? I want to make sure to send them to everyone... without coming off as crazy, of course!

Same, but they are planning to add more interview dates in April ... we r "good"
 
And the verdict is..........(drumroll).....


REJECTED!!!!!!

They sent a message in the login portal page dated jan 5th and i didn't see it till a couple days ago.

whatever....Luckily I have another acceptance.
I would have appreciated Davis a lot more if i just got the rejection back in october/november...i don't know why they wait this long if I don't even qualify for a waitlist.

complete 9/08. Only available dates are tomorrow, Feb 4 and March 4.

Yeah got an email at like 10. I hadn't been checking my status recently though since I had been told they didn't have any more interview spots
 
Wow...Miracles do come.

Completed since 7/14, received my interview last night on 1/27

I was complaining about this 4 days ago, and gosh...I feel so blessed.

6 months and 13 days later hell yeah!
 
Hey guys, for those of you who interviewed already and stayed for the clinic visit on Saturday, could you let us know how the clinic tour went? How long did it last? Was it very casual? Thx!! 🙂

The tour was super relaxed. There wasnt a specific outline of how long to stay...the coordinators kind of left that up to you. However I stayed for almost two hours and chatted with some of the med students and observed how they diagnose patients. The tour is really just a chance for you to see what the free clinics are all about and you shouldn't worry about them. Good luck on your interview!

Also has anyone who has gotten accepted received their student id ?
 
Yeah, I agree - the clinic was super relaxed. I think you could stay anywhere from 15min to 2 hours, just depending on what clinic you're at and who the coordinators are.

I have not received a student ID... actually I haven't received anything besides the initial phone call and email. Has anyone else who's been accepted gotten anything in the mail or any additional materials?

I interviewed mid November and still havent heard anything. On the day of my interview they told us we should expect to hear from them mid Dec hahaha yeah right davis

BUT a girl that I interviewed with on the same did receive an acceptance already, she received her acceptance about 3-4 weeks ago. womp womp

Hey Newyorktrojan, congratulations on the acceptance! I believe you can find your student ID # in the financial aid section of the application portal. I think the admissions office is pretty distracted with the remaining interviews/admissions, but trust me, they do a pretty good job of letting you know exactly what you have to do.

I would love to learn more about the environment at UCD. As my parents live in the area, I did not request a Student Host, I am not sure if it was even offered. But at every other school I where I have interviewed, I have stayed with a student the night prior. This gave me an opportunity to get a feel of living in the area of the school. I didn't get that at UCD.

Would you mind sharing? I know that UCD doesn't have student housing per se, but is there an area where the med students tend to live, or is everyone spread out?

I grew up in the Sacramento area, but am unfamiliar with the specific area around UCD Med Center.

Any overview of what student life is like at UCD would be greatly appriciated. I have not been accepted, just hoping!

There is a student hosting program available but I think, like other areas in admissions, it may be a little disorganized. If you haven't contacted the admissions office directly, I would try there and ask about it.

Ok, I thought your other questions could be best addressed by this handy manual a couple students put together a couple years ago. Some things are a little out of date but I found it to be a really good resource. Just clink on this link (http://ucdsom2011.pbworks.com/w/page/10693586/FrontPage) and I'm sure many of your questions will be answered. And, if not, I'll try to fill in the holes the best I can. i called and it seems like second look is planned for the weekend of april 15th.

Also, for those with the UCD Student ID and can't sign in to crete an account, its because the ids arent loaded into the system yet and we should give it some time.

I posted that back in early november. After months of waiting I just got invited to interview! Just goes to show that you can't believe all the rumors you hear on SDN.

Anyway...has anyone gotten a post-interview decision recently. I interviewed in Dec and I remember Mr. Ed D. (not the horse) said we could expect an answer in like 4-5 weeks. It took the Egyptians less time to oust their president. What's the word? Thanks.
