I find it rather comical that UCLA hasn't even invited people to interview (at least none reported on SDN) while other school have already handed out acceptances. I guess they can do that, since most people would trade a family member for a UCLA acceptance.

i would do a lot more than just trade a family member...

Yes, I said it in the first place. And it is confirmed there will be one interview date before halloween instead of 2. I have no idea if the interviewees are MSTP or not but I guess I will find out on the interview day! There will be 2 4th year med students on the panel that day so be nice to them!
FYI, be patient with UCLA. The process always seems to be forever at UCLA but trust me, if you get in, it's worth the wait!
any questions, please feel free to ask. I am studying for boards right now so I will check this site periodically!
Good luck with the process!
kel
has anyone verified the before halloween interview date idea? or who posted it in the first place?

Hey guys I just checked my status page for no real reason and found that I have an interview for the classic MD!!!!! Letter was dated today so maybe the emails are going out tomorrow? Sent in my available dates, so we'll see when they schedule it.

I also noticed in the letter that they are doing MMIs (multiple mini-interviews) which they describes as about 7 or 8 10 minute stations with one questions/scenario each. Sounds like speed dating for your future:/

Congrats!! When was your secondary submitted/what are your stats? (If you don't mind). 🙂

Congrats! Anyone else get the invite?

when are the available dates for ucla? thanks!

Got an invite when I checked today! 🙂

When were you guys complete? Also, are you guys in the LA area? I'm assuming if there's an interview date before the end of October, they would be inviting applicants who live near. To book a flight to LA from the East Coast and rearrange my schedule in less than two weeks would be difficult to do!

So I was complete on Aug 2nd, and I do live in the LA Area. I'm a reapplicant, with a 38+ MCAT, 3.8 GPA, 3.9 SGPA, and I'm working in the healthcare field.

when are the available dates for ucla? thanks!

For dates they just had us pick our preferred days of the week and dates that we preferred or were unavailable for. I'll let you know once I get a reply.

=( I was complete 7-27 looks like they rolled over my application

Sigh. I have about 1.5 months worth of applications in front of mine. I guess I'll keep waiting. 🙄

My LORs (last piece to the puzzle) were in late July...so I'm guessing either no love from UCLA or...I just gotta wait. I live near LA, so...who knows?

I have been complete since 7/29 as well, and I go undergrad here. But it seems that most schools don't go in a strict chronological manner.

so i have a friend that is a standing member on the ucla admissions committee. when i spoke w/him, he said that ucla is super late in the game because they complete changed the way that the interviews are all conducted. the whole interview re-haul caused them to delay interviews and that's why they were sent out so late 🙂 good luck to all!

Congratulations first of all. However, it seems you have already applied to UCLA twice, last year and the year before that (from last year's UCLA thread). I thought UCLA discourages three-time applicant and would not review your application. I was wondering how you made yourself so appealing. Any advice would be appreciated.

I did the same thing after talking to the admissions counselor, and I got an interview the next week. I was in the same situation, was wait listed last year and then rejected pre-interview in Dec.

I'm scheduled to interview Feb 17th. So I say go for it!

I talked to the admissions counselor after not getting in the second time to ask about a 3rd application. She said since your stats are good and you are still working to improve your application, then they will look at your application a 3rd time. 🙂

I was complete 8/5, and I'm from the LA area, but am currently on the East Coast. Not sure what that implies..

Just checked my status during lunch and was pleasantly surprised with an invite!!!

Congrats!

Still waiting for some home-school love...

Congrats everyone!

Any interview invites for OOSers yet? (Or any non-SoCal People for that matter). I have been living in the bay area for 21/2 months, sadly I doubt that's long enough for them to consider me IS 🙁

21/2 = 10.5

I finally got my interview date settled, again without any email notification from UCLA. November 3rd. So keep checking your status, this is a little ridiculous.

Seems like they are adding more substance to the interview day then I remember from last year.

The day of your interview, you will have a student guided tour, lunch with the Dean and the opportunity to hear about the school from students and faculty.

Couple Qs:

Was there a big list of days that interviews were open for (i.e. were there a bunch of interview days or is it just a few days available right now)?

If you don't mind me being a nosy, obnoxious, anonymous, internet loser, why did you have to go through 3 app cycles with those ridiculous stats? Mediocre students like myself have no chance!

I want to go to UCLA so bad. #1 choice for sure.

Anyone from San Diego going up for an interview on November 2nd and feel like carpooling? I've got a car and plan to drive up on the 1st, we can split the gas or somthing. It's just boring driving solo.

21/2 = 10.5

hahaha I meant 2 1/2 months! sometimes I wonder how I made it through engineering school.

I want to stay in CA and go to UCLA sooo bad. I hope my "technically still a Texan" status isn't what keeps me out.

Congrats everyone! It seems like you only get one week notice? It's le crazy for those of us who live a 6 1/2 hour drive away and therefore would have to fly if we're lucky enough to get an interview!

wow...I was expecting flood of invites...but UCLA must be taking it relatively slowly

I was thinking the same thing...maybe their first few interview days are small? hopefully this means therea are plenty of interviews left! :luck: everyone!

hopefully....cuz I'm getting absolutely no California love...rejected from UCSF and Davis, on hold for UCSD, all quiet on the USC Keck front even when I submitted the first possible day, and it's only UCLA and Stanford left... =(

there must be something on my app that is seriously at odds with what Cali schools want 😵

yea you and me both. they must be able to smell my cali school repellent.

Thanks drscooter. 🙂 I was waiting for the email but it never came! Mine's Nov 30, but I requested a date around that time.

Same with me! Except I didn't apply to Stanford haha....no love from UCSF/UCD (rejected), on hold at UCSD, and USC/UCI/UCLA have yet to say a thing about my app...and I submitted as early as possible too! 🙁

:luck: to everyone here and I guess all we can do is :xf:

This is definitely my TOP choice school. My stats aren't the best, but again, one can dream right? 😛

Anyhow, my question is do you think UCLA accepts update/interest letters pre-interview? If so, does anyone know where to send them?

Also, in general...if a school is my top school, would it make sense to send a letter of intent even before getting an interview? (sorry if it's a naive question)

They just tell you they interview M-F, and have you pick which days of the week you prefer and then any particular dates you want or don't want. Then they just tell you this is your interview date, w/o an email too. :/

As for applying, I applied late the first round, and then didn't really improve my app the 2nd time. I was waitlisted both times, just never got off the lists.

UCLA does accept pre-interview letters, I sent them one this year. So definitely send one out to them, and a letter of intent may be better for after your interview.

Good luck! 😀

what kind of stats/other things are usually necessary to the OOS students to be admitted?? since they take so few it must be intense

Where would we send the update letters? The UCLA website is hard to navigate to find their contact info...

I would guess that you would send them to the admissions office, which is located in the CHS building: 12-109 Center for Health Sciences, at the intersection of Le Conte and Tiverton...I don't know the exact address but I suspect it might be
10833 Le Conte Avenue
Los Angeles, California 90024
since that's the address of the medical school.

You could hunt around the directory at mednet.ucla.edu to try to find out more.

hi guys
I just submitted my secondary essays and I just remembered I did not proofread!
I am so stupid.
Is it possible to see what I wrote now?

No one will give you a great answer here, since even IN-STATE people don't even know what this school wants. The UCs are crazy in that respect..

Doubt it, once it's in, it's in. Hopefully there's nothing too glaring! Good luck.🙂

good luck with your interviews this week guys! hope to see some of you at the pizza social at night.

Woah! Havent checked in a week and lo and behold... I have an interview!

Submitted 8/20 Completed ~ 8/23 Invited 10/25. =D

anyone know if I request a date now, how long would they take to get back to me about when my interview is?

thanks!

UCLA sends out complete emails?!?
i submitted my secondary in july & never got one..

UCLA doesn't seem to be a big fan of email. They like their status page much more.

I never received a completed email, interview invite, or interview confirmation - it was all on the website.

no haha i didnt get an email. as the person before me said, ucla seems to dislike emails...I just kind of guessed on the completion date based on the things that showed up on the website.

Hi
Please please someone tell me, because I have emailed and called and these people are dead. nobody ever responds.
If I received secondary request on September 29, when is my application due, and when are my letters of rec due?

I believe the due date is about 6 or 7 weeks after you receive the request. The specific date should be on your status check page (on top of the table and under your applicant info). It should say "Your online forms are due on: x/x/xxxx."

I hope this helps. GL!
