does anyone know the email address to which we are to send our passport photo? is it just the same email that they used to invite us for an interview?

thanks in advance

I didn't get an email either that my application was complete... but from the other posts, it seems as if it takes 2 - 3 months after submitting your secondary application before you may possibly get an interview invite?!?!

hey all,

for those who got interview invites, what email address do we send our picture to? in the rush of scheduling my interview, i forgot to save the instructions!

what would you say my chances for ucla are for medical school if I get 2 c's in community college in calculus 1st semester and bio 11a, and b's in chem 1a and english 1a? The rest of my college career i've got all a's from the community college and transferring to ucsd.
i have pretty good extra curriculars with a really good mcat score? is there any thing that should be added to increase my chances?

Update letter or letter of interest? Was this by snail mail or email? I might do something similar as well seeing that I haven't heard anything from them since I've been complete late July :scared:

How long did it take them to get the date scheduled for you guys after you sent in your form? Thanks!

Also, was there any resolution to who we should email the photo to, and if the official transcript needs to be sent ASAP (and if so to the admissions mailing address or somewhere else)?

It's surprising that they have interviews 5 days a week. Seems like most of the MMI places are more limited.

Interview invite! Was complete back in early august. Got the secondary on 7/20.

I interviewed last week, and they said we were part of the first week of interviews for MD applicants. Don't worry too much if you haven't heard back yet, they still have a lot of people to interview.

As for the MMI, its not that bad, some of it is actually fun, so don't stress too much. And for anyone interested they mentioned that we wouldn't be hearing from them again until Jan 15th.

How was the interview conducted, and how did it go for you? I know they are doing the 15 minute mini interviews for 2 hours, but this is all they give to you in the interview instructions. Were your questions traditional medical school questions, or did they give you activities to do for the 15 minutes?

My interview is the 29th of this month :scared:

I got the interview invite 11/10 and my interview date is 11/29.

A little nervous about the multiple mini interview structure. Anyone have advice? What types of questions are asked?

i'm a little nervous about it too...

to anyone who already had theirs, did they ask many ethical questions?

I'm worried about MMI along with the rest of you.

I know a few people who did MMI at Davis, and they said it wasn't too bad, but I could imagine it being more intense at UCLA...

They do send out pre-secondary rejections. Last year, if you were in that group your status page would state a date in the "Final Decision Letter" box, which was followed by a letter via snail mail.

At least that's what happened to me in the 2009-2010 cycle. I submitted my AMCAS to them in late July and got that status/letter in mid-Nov.

Hope things work out!! 🙂

When is the next available interview date? Thanks

Not sure. From what I hear, they assign you a day and you have to go then. I didn't list any preference for day of the week and didn't list any dates I couldn't interview. Hopefully that will show them just how excited I am to go to this interview, lol.

BTW am I the first OOS to get an invite?

i received an invite too recently and scheduled my interview to be in the next week. my question is- where does it say anything about the interview day being in MMI format? (am i missing something??) 😕

my confirmation email just said, "...Interviews are conducted by faculty and student members of the Admissions Committee. The interview is but one critical part of the evaluation, etc.."

The very first letter, when they sent you the interview request, should have explained that the interview will be 15 minute mini interviews for 2 hours.

This is the first year DGSOM has formatted their interviews this way, so I have been unsure how to actually prepare.

I just interviewed today. The best advice i can possibly give is that you've prepared your whole life for this. There's really no way to fully prepare, as MMI is pretty much all about who you are as a person. I know it's kind of not clear, but trust me, you've prepared for it.

hi, congratulations on your interview. i read that mmi interviews are closed file, was that the case for ucla? thanks!

I got an interview invite last week, but like alot of people, forgot to save the instructions on mailing in the official transcripts before sending in the form. Does anybody have the text of that note with instructions, or remember where exactly I should have the transcripts sent and if there's any special instructions (like get your AMCAS ID listed on the transcript, list attention of special person, etc)?

Thanks a bunch for the help!

hey guys,

if you check the "schedule" tab of your status bar on the geffen site, you'll see that they added directions to the original letter (that didn't have instructions for email and transcripts originally!)

basically, send the photo and put your amcas id.jpg to the main geffen email (the one they emailed you at); Send transcripts to the address they listed in the interview letter (you can look it up on the status section of the UCLA geffen site).

hope this helps!

Interview invite today after sending in an update letter on 11/24! It might not have anything to do with it... but you never know =D Personally, I think it had an affect. I love the quick turnaround though 😀 😀

Congrats, when's your interview? I'll be interviewing December 17th.

when were you complete?

Just got an interview invite. I'm psyched! 3.7 , 38 , In state. complete 9/19. This is my second interview. Would it be appropriate to send an in area letter to USC Irvine and San Diego?

I have a question about transcripts that we need to send. Should we wait until the end of this term or should we send whatever we have right now?

Congrats on the invite inthemaison! I don't think it would hurt if you were out of state, but didn't you say you are in state? How would you phrase that you are in the area when you technically always are 🙂 ? Also USC does not accept anything pre-interview post secondary, but I'm not sure about the rest of those schools. Good Luck!

Congratulations to everyone who recieved an interview! I am wondering where I would send an update letter to? If anyone could tell me that would be fantastic.

Also has there been a lot of OOS interview invites? I am OOS and would love to interview here. LA is pretty awesome. Midwest winters pisses me off.

Thanks for the advice. I just wasn't sure how far was far enough since I'm from northern California, but you're right. I was wondering about the transcript thing too.

Doesn't seem like there's been many OOS interviews. I got one OOS but I haven't heard anyone else on SDN say they got one OOS.

My significant other is from here, and I would love to at least get the opportunity to check out the school, but so far no word.

hello! for those of you who have interviewed, when does the interview day end? don't remember reading that info in the email. thanks!

but i think that also depends on what time the day begins.. i've heard that some days are scheduled to begin earlier than others...

For those of you who have interviewed, did you send thank you letters/emails?

Not sure who to address since there were multiple interviewers, and I don't know who is on the board of admissions.

lol I think those are for OOS people. We are IS...technically always in the area. I'm an undergrad at UCLA, I was thinking of sending an letter as well  so I live in a giant glass house.

so for whoever received the most recent interview invite, what were the earliest dates possible? and how long does UCLA interview till?

They don't give you dates. When you click on the interview invitation to schedule, it just asks for days of the week you prefer to interview and what dates you cannot attend. Then they email you a date and time.

I got the interview invite at the beginning of November and was scheduled for the end of the month.

I am pretty sure UCLA interviews up through March.

Good luck!

Hey guys!

I was wondering how long it took them to give you the date of the interview after you give your preferences? I got the invite two days ago, but I still don't have the interview date...

Thanks! 😀
