When did you submit your secondary? What are your stats? I'm pending review for an interview, in-state, 1 year postbac at the NIH.

Yup, just got an acceptance as well....first IS acceptance, so stoked!
 
Got the e-mail!!!! I was at my lab computer and found the closest person I knew and gave him a high five. Then called my parents. So happy (first acceptance).
 
Waitlisted... Oh well. Hopefully get some good news here in May. 🙁
 
My online status now says "Hold for Interview".

I think this is the first instance on the thread of someone being told of a post-secondary hold online.
 
Congrats to all of you who were accepted and sorry about the waitlist! Did anyone interview any days other than 9/21?

They say on the website that they don't reject post-secondary and pre-interview until March...

They started rejecting in February actually, according to last year's thread anyways. I skimmed last year's thread, and it doesn't seem like anyone on SDN was granted an interview after being on a pre-interview hold 🙁
At least one person from the 08-09 cycle was though : \

So, Hold for Interview, per last year's posts on SDN, is equal to Rejected?

I just checked, and my status shows, Hold for Interview. So very sad.

Having no life, I've been reading the 08-09 thread, and a fair number of people were eventually interviewed in January and February after being on hold. I think it just depends on how many interview spots are left by then and how many people they've accepted/rejected/waitlisted.

really sad to see this too. i was thinking about ucsd so much this week. its so close to home...it woulda been nice...oh well gotta keep our chins up!
 
when were you guys complete (those that have pre interveiw holds)? I have been complete since 8/02 and nothing yet :/

Me too, it is HOME! I really thought 3.96 and 36Q with what I thought was strong ECs would get me an interview. My chin is dragging!

I was complete 8/27. You might still have a chance at an interview it looks like. Good luck!
 
Accepted today, as well. Got the email as my flight landed at lax. Got a congratulatory kiss on the cheek from the flight attendant sitting across from me.

Definatly makes up for getting felt up by TSA at Ohare earlier today.

Shocked to find my acceptance email this morning after a brutal interview where I was grilled on why I didn't retake the MCAT after scoring a 30.
 
Hold for Interview at UCSD as of today...I was completely late July. Blech. oh well.

so i jsut got a secondary, oos, do u think i still have a chance? i mean it seems like everyone has already been getting decisions post secondary...

Has anyone been rejected by UCSD yet (post-secondary, pre-interview)?
 
if we get an "on-hold" email does that mean we are in pile 2 or pile 3? in contrast to the post on the last page report by someone who talked to "brian", the email i got said theres only 3 piles.
 
Rejected today. Post-sec. IS. I was complete on 9/10. I had actually called the admissions office today and talked to a rude woman who told me I hadn't been reviewed yet. Obviously this was not true as I got the rejection e-mail 2 hours later. My stats are also a little low for UCSD so this was not shocking.

OOS, 36/3.7 - okay, I know it's more than just stats, but I'm starting to feel like the UCs are such a crapshoot for OOSers, after being rejected from SF pre-secondary and SD post.

Don't worry, they're a crapshoot for IS too. I'm slightly below you (35/3.7 w/ massive amounts of research) and I was screened out at SF, rejected post-sec from Davis and SD.

i got the IS post-sec reject w/3.8s/36. it definitely is a crap parade for anyone.

yeah, i'm even a non-trad; been out of college a few years; strong research history; did some international work in undergrad that would make for great interview conversations.

i just won't be having those conversations in SD.

weird that these 36 mcats are getting rejected. i am 33/3.7 IS, and i got the hold email today. but from what i hear, hold basically means rejection?

I was wondering that myself. What's the view of the folks who called and got told they were in pile 2 or pile 3? Did either pile get you the same "on hold" email/status change? Maybe I should just call to find out.

No...it means they will review your app in January...i know ppl who've gotten in that way

Rejected from the spammy folder (pre-interview; post-secondary). Guess they didn't enjoy my good ol' grew-up-in-the-white-suburbs autobio 😀

me too got 86ed from UCSD a day after Davis gave my app the axe.

Some of those interviewers play games just to see if you will buckle if ever pushed out of your comfort zone.

To the pre-interview group as a whole:

Know that this is DEFINITELY NOT the end of the road of your app at UCSD, despite what someone posted about what he/she read on past year app threads. It simply means your app will be re-reviewed up against another group of applicants. Be mindful that numbers alone do not determine whether you will have success in any school's app process.

Best of luck to ALL of you and DON'T LET YOUR CHIN DRAG!!!! IT IS ONLY OCTOBER!!! 😀
