Got rejected today too, 10 weeks to the day.

I think I am definitely drafting an appeal letter, but I don't know how much bearing it will have - but I guess if you don't try, then you never know, right? I also think I'm a really good fit for the school, more so than some others that I have gotten interview invites at...=/ (but who doesn't say that, I guess?)

This has been an extremely long wait though...

Sorry to hear about that. I've hit 9 weeks, and I'm going crazy refreshing their status page. At this point it's more likely a reject than not, but I'm still dying to know. This is one school I'd love to go to.

oh and p.s.
UCSF will reject you without ever sending you an email. My roommate just found his rejection letter, dated two days ago, and had to create a web account to find out.
congrats and good luck to those who made the cut though.

just found the rejection letter on my status page after about 9 weeks of waiting. oh well, didn't expect much from here anyways. good luck to the rest of ya.

Interview Invite yesterday at 9:30pm!
Secondary Submitted on 8/2

Good luck everyone!

I received the "UCSF acknowledges your existence and your application is complete" email July 26. I still have not heard anything from them. I logged in to the application page and it still has that "we will let you know sometime between now and 12 weeks from now if you're selected for a secondary" message. Anyone in this same situation? You think they would've rejected us already if we haven't heard anything in 2 months =(

Same here, received that e-mail on the 29th. From what I've heard you can hold out hope right up until the 12 week mark. Not sure what happens then....your status page turns into a pumpkin?

They get a metric ****ton of primaries to review. You're 2/3 of the way there, and it ain't over til it's over. Chill.

so any advice for interviews here? I feel pretty nervous having such a huge school as my FIRST interview haha

For those of you with interviews --
Relax, be yourself (sorry if that seems generic). Mention anything on your application you think the interviewer would want to ask about (like an institutional action) as they won't see your file until after the interview (closed interviews) and they won't be able to address it to the committee unless you talked about it.
UCSF was my first interview (out of about 12-15) and everything worked out...sometimes people are the freshest and most earnest during their initial interviews and then just start to sound canned by then end🙂
Good luck guys!

Any one know out of the 500 interviewed students the number that are accepted??

Anyone know if JMP invites are going out yet or when they've gone out in the past? Thanks!

Not sure about invites, but I just got rejected from the JMP.

First rejection, woooooo!

I actually only checked my status because of what someone above said. No email, so I'm not sure how long I've actually been rejected 😛

EDIT: Jaykay, it was dated Sept 21. OOPS. Haha.

That sucks! Sorry to hear that =( Looks like you are doing preeetty well for yourself, otherwise, though =)

🙂
I'm not terribly broken up about it...at least I'm saved from the possibility of agonizing over whether to attend this amazing program with cheap tuition or a closer-to-friends-and-family east coast school 😛

Good luck to you all waiting to hear!

Omg I just received a secondary! My heart was literally racing since the email was a bit cryptic and didn't say anything about a secondary and just told me to check the status page. I pretty much gave up hope already!

congrats!!!! when were you verified? hope for the rest of us!

I completed 10 weeks waiting for a secondary yesterday! Are there others who've been waiting even longer?

Does anyone know if UCSF has started handing out rejections post-secondary? Thanks! 😀

I have exactly the same timeline....UCSF acknowledged my existence on 7/21 and still no word. 10 weeks and counting!!!!

10 weeks. 1 day. Nothing...come on secondary!

I was actually verified on the 21st as well.
Nothing yet... I guess they are really sitting on out apps.
I am almost at the 11th week mark!

Just received a secondary! Applied in mid-June and hadnt heard a word since...

Fall 2008 Admissions Statistics

Total admissions data 6030 applied, 503 interviewed, 257 were accepted, 152 enrolled

In-state admissions data 3111 applied, 330 interviewed, 169 were accepted, 121 enrolled

Out-of-state admissions data 2919 applied, 173 interviewed, 88 were accepted, 31 enrolled

Still no news for me, two weeks after they acknowledged receiving my appeal. :xf:

The silence, it is deafening. :scared:

I fall under the category of "I will be out of the country - provide additional info below (e.g. dates, best way to contact, etc.)". It says 100 character limit.

Is that a typo? Did they mean 100 word? 100 characters is pretty ridiculously short.

For any JMP folks out there--JMP invite, OOS today (along with regular MD invite).

Dear UCSF,

Please give me a secondary because I think your school is super awesome.

K Thanks.

Do we know if the "applied" number is for primary applications or completed secondary applications?

I think you can safely say that's primaries. That's sort of a large number for primaries even.

Almost at the eleven week mark... really hoping UCSF pulls through in this next week!

Hit the eleventh week today....still no word 🙁

Come on UCSF!!! I need some secondary lovin!!!!

Got the dreaded rejection pdf on my status page.

Received the secondary immediately after my application was complete. Super sad. 🙁 I really thought I had a chance for an interview. I guess somethings were just not meant to be.

Sorry to hear that..when were u complete?

So I'm about to submit my secondary but I'm having second thoughts about whether to apply to PRIME or not. Most of my clinical experience has been in underserved clinics (a few years) and I also spent some time abroad volunteering (~1 year). I spent a big chunk of my PS talking specifically talking about my work with the medically underserved.

The only real reason I'm hesitant to apply to PRIME is that I'm not sure if this will put in a more competitive pool when they review my app. At the same time, not applying for it might raise questions...If they deem that I'm not good enough for PRIME, will I still be considered for MD-only?

Any thoughts? Are there others in the same boat?

You have to get accepted into the MD program before you're even considered for additional options like PRIME. My understanding is that they don't even read your PRIME essay when reviewing your candidacy for MD.

In other words, no, it will not hurt your app in the slightest.

I think they mean 100 characters. I just put, "I will in out of the country between blah blah blah, and will have intermittent access to email only." It seemed to work...

I sent in an appeal letter after getting the rejection pdf, and they said they'd get back to me in about a month. Has anyone successfully gotten into UCSF after going through the appeal process?

Yes, if you look back through the past app cycle threads, there are stories about successful appeals. It gives hope to us all! :luck:

Just got my dreaded rejection pdf on the website....
Sad, since I love San Francisco

Hi Hi All,

Just a quick question everyone how long did you hear about an interview invite or maybe a rejection after submitting the secondary?

Thanks

the long-awaited rejection letter, dated Oct. 6. They waited 10 weeks and 6 days. Oh well. Good luck all

Sorry to hear that! I'm at 11 weeks 3 days..... What is going on!!!?????? The waiting is killing me!

Just curious, is everyone's rejection letter the same? I received mine a while back and it was kind of a nice one...(even though I am still really bummed few weeks later)

are these rejections post-secondary? I've been complete for a while and haven't heard anything
