No one has ANY update?? guess there is really no love for this UCONN tread this year 🙁. It's sad because I am very invested in this school and I would love to know how everyone else is doing.

I interviewed in early October and it took some time to hear back. My letter was sent out at the very end of November so it was a solid 7-8 weeks before I heard. Definitely a nerve wracking time but I loved the school and students. Hope to see some of you next year!

I know that I can't wait. I keep checking fb or something for UCONN MED class of 2015 group...
Ok I'll be patient...

Ya that is what I kind of gathered from this tread about the wait time....I just interviewed last week and loved it. Looks like I am in for a long 2 months 🙁. Yuck I hate the wait, especially when you love a school.

it could be sooner. i heard exactly 4 weeks after my interview. waiting is torture, though

By the way I totally copied you user-name if you couldn't tell 😀 Thanks for the input!

Accepted! Just got the email from Dr. Zeff. OOS interviewed 11/22.

congrats Sir Robin, would you mind sharing your stats? Also has anyone else heard?

Accepted MD/PhD! OOS interviewed two weeks ago.🙂

Congrats chutzpah! Would you mind sharing your complete stats? Also I am curious how you found out email, phone call, letter? I am curious because I interviewed about a week ago and loved it and am very anxious to here back! So jealous of you but seriously congrats!

got an email about the 2nd look weekend for accepted students 🙂

it's on march 18th and 19th, and is supposed to be a blast....I'm excited!

I wish I could get excited about this, but I am not accepted🙁...yet:xf:

i didn't realize it was a two day event. cool. what have you heard about it being a blast jeepy?

Wow - I haven't even interviewed here yet (scheduled for next week). Anyone else still waiting to complete interviews here?
Do they interview right up until the end of February?

ah I have a couple of friends that are MS1s and they said it was a good time. plus they give you a chance to hear presentations/student groups on any subfields or specialties you may be interested in.

a friend of a friend is the organizer of the 2nd look weekend, so I may have heard a biased opinion lol. still excited nonetheless 🙂

I believe the interview into March. On my interview I met with some current students and two oh them had been interviewed in March, so if it is the sme as last year it is until then.

Uh, I have pretty mediocre stats, 3.7 34R, I have extensive research experience with 2 2nd author pubs though. I got notified via email.

Congrats to all of you guys recently accepted!

I can promise you that second look weekend is definitely a blast and that if you go you'll get a good representation of the school and students.

Many of the current M1's had interviews and acceptances late in the year, so don't be concerned if you're waiting for a response from the school for either a decision or an interview. If I recall correctly, the schedule runs well into March and maybe beyond.

If you have any questions about the school or the admissions process, shoot them my way and I'll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge.

Here's hoping to seeing some of you at 2nd look/future interviews!

chutzpah don't be so modest your stats are great! My GPA is only slightly higher and my MCAT is slightly lower and I only have ONE third author publication and a pending 2nd author publication. Anywas congrats again and hopefully I will be joining you in the class of 2015 shortly :xf:

Hey is anyone planning on going to second look day in March? If so have you heard anything about staying with a student on friday night? It should be a really good time!

I am very jealous people are talking about second look week and I don't even know if I am in or not...however I have heard that the weekend is a lot of fun! Hopefully I will be able to go:xf:

Anyone else receive an email today? I was placed on the waiting list - "high alternate status". :xf:

I am also curious about when you interviewed...because I interviewed on 1/14 and I have not heard a peep from UCONN. Also this is the first I have heard of anyone being wait-listed (at lease on this thread). On another note....I sent them thank you notes after my interview but have not sent them anything else, should I? Any advice?

Hey all, long time viewer first time poster.

Huskie99, don't start sweating it yet, if you interviewed 1/14 it's very possible they haven't even reviewed your file post-interview yet. Seeing that some people have waited up to 2 months or more to get a final decision, 2 weeks isn't much. Additionally, with the holiday breaks and such I wouldn't be surprised if they're backlogged right now, I interviewed mid-December and still haven't heard back. The waiting sucks big time, but unfortunately you gotta take it.

As for sending anything, I would hold off for now. My undergrad pre-med advisor as well as a few friends of mine currently in med school have said that sending a letter of interest after a couple months of no contact/waitlist won't hurt, but being overeager before you've heard anything may not be the best. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for you advice! I will try to be patient and not lose my mind in this waiting game! haha

I second his advice... I interviewed in the first week of December and have not heard a peep. Someone who interviewed two weeks before me just heard... two weeks ago I think. I was originally told by my student interviewer that it would be 6-8 weeks. With all the snow, holidays, etc it makes a lot of sense as to why its taking longer than expected.

Basically, I would just tell you to not start thinking that a long wait is a bad sign. Best wishes.

Is there any UCONN class of 2015 group on Facebook or other networking sites? Can someone post it?
Or maybe it's illegal? Lol!
Or actually I could make one up... March seems like such a long time to meet everyone. It's like one month and 1/2...

Does anyone know when the next committee meeting is?

i haven't seen one yet

I can't believe no one has heard anything in almost a month...I wonder why?

Has anyone received any news post-interview recently?

Has anyone received any news post-interview recently?

i remember looking back at last year's thread, and it seemed like there was a delay in responses for people who interviewed in january. it seemed like people didn't start hearing back till march. not sure if this is correct though.

I see - thanks for the heads up. Best of luck to you!

Does anyone know when the next committee meeting is? It has been a while since anyone has heard anything...

I emailed Dr. Zeff earlier today and got this reply shortly after,

[FONT=Times New Roman,serif][FONT=Calibri,sans-serif]We had an Admissions Committee meeting recently for which I am just sending out notification. The Admissions Committee has designated your application as High Alternate. While it is difficult to predict for each cycle, this is a category that we typically move into with acceptances as the admissions process continues through the Spring and Summer months. The committee will not numerically rank the High Alternate group until mid April, but once that is complete I will get back in touch with you to provide a further status update...
[FONT=Times New Roman,serif][FONT=Calibri,sans-serif]..

[FONT=Times New Roman,serif][FONT=Calibri,sans-serif]Although I'm dissapointed I will try to stay optomisitic about the fact that he's saying there's a good chance this will turn into an acceptance down the road. So I'm sure those of you who are waiting to hear back will be notified soon. BTW I interviewed back in early December...

I talked to the admissions office the other day and they said that they did not meet at all in January because of all the snow. The one they had in February was the first one in a while, but hopefully they will keep it going! They told me that my application (from Jan 10) would not be reviewed at that meeting, but probably the next one. I can't wait to hear! :xf:

Thanks for the info! I interviewed the same week and can not wait to here back!!

hey everyone!

Congratulations on your acceptances/high waitlists and good luck for those who are still waiting. How are most people receiving their news? Also, does anyone know how often the committee meets? It seems that they are behind

I received a phone call yesterday morning inviting me to interview at UCONN on February 28... I hadn't heard a word from them since my application complete email back in August and was obviously absolutely thrilled to get the call. I was though quite surprised by it as it was a call, not an email, and they had a particular date in mind for me to come in for interview, as opposed to selecting a date online as I've done for other interviews. Anybody have a comment on this? Is this because it is so late in the cycle? Am I essentially interviewing for a waitlist position at this point? Either way its my first message from a school after an ominously quiet few months so gotta keep the hope...

UConn is kind of "old school" in the sense that they have no online portal to view your status or pick your interview date. When I interviewed they called and gave me dates they had open, and let me pick. This was back in October, so there was probably more space in the schedule. I assume since its relatively late they have less dates available to pick from. Probably why they only gave you one date. I would say you have just as good a shot of anyone else. I'm not sure how interviewing later in the cycle effects your chances.

As for acceptances, I've of heard people getting calls, emails, or letters. I received a letter in the mail. I think that's how they inform people most of the time.

I'll **** a brick if you hear back soon, I interviewed in the first week of December and have not heard a single word. I even stopped in to hand deliver my thank you letters! 👎

well I hope you hear soon. There was only your week and Jan 3 ahead of my interview so I wouldn't be surprised if we heard about the same time. good luck

Thank you! My bitterness wasn't meant towards you by the way, sure do hope I hear this week as well. Best wishes! 👍

I heard they are meeting today to discuss applications, so hopefully some of us will know by the end of the week!
