I know you've been waiting for a while, so I hope you hear back soon!!! best of luck to you 🙂

Thanks Jeepy! I have since received an acceptance at another school so my tensions have eased slightly, but I am still dying to hear from UCONN because they are by far my number one choice:xf:

just got the email alternate...with no type of ranking given, this sucks

just got the alternate email as well, obviously disappointing, but like Tupac says, ya gotta keep ya head up. Like Huskie99 said there was no mention of position, and that our "ranked" position will come out in the next couple months once they review all applicants. fingers crossed.

Dear all, I am new to this forum but have been a long time reader 🙂
I was wondering if anyone know how UConn send out rejection notice? phone call, email or letter? Based on people's post, it looks like interview offers were only by phone calls whereas acceptance offers were by several methods. Correct me if I am wrong... Thanks!

Hey everyone,

I hope you all get positive responses soon. So I'm guessing that the latest notifications were for those who interviewed on January 14th? Any one after that? I interviewed on Jan 24th. Do you know when the committee meets next time?

Thanks

I interviewed back in December, but according to someone who posted earlier they are meeting again today so they may be reviewing your file soon.

I interviewed first week of December, and I heard back today (waitlist).

sphun65 sorry to hear that, I got the same thing as did a few of my friends. Did your email give you any type of waitlist "ranking" I have heard of others before us getting that but I personally did not. Plenty of people get off the waitlist so there is still hope. It just sucks we have to get into the mind frame of going to another school when that all can change. That is the med school process I guess, very competitive 🙁

To address your first point, I am assuming that all of their spots are filled now and almost everyone is going to waitlist / reject (could be wrong). I believe that they are very behind in reviewing applications and are not placing priorities on them yet, as they might have been before. I also thought I heard that other people had gotten priorities earlier in the season.

Keep your head up! I enjoyed Uconn but it wasn't my absolute favorite school. At each school I interviewed at, there have been bits and pieces of each that stick out to me still. To be honest I guess I don't really have a favorite and I would gladly choose any of them. Remember that choosing favorites at this point is purely hypothetical; it's doubtful you will have to make that kind of choice in the end. And if you do, that's a great thing! Stay open to all the possibilities at this point. Life goes on if you don't get in here.

It is pretty competitive... I'm not a terribly competitive applicant but I thought all of my interviews were very positive. I don't have any acceptances yet, and hearing back from Uconn was my first of any kind of news. Tough to stay optimistic, but have to try at least. The people with a 3.9/38T can't go to each of the 12 schools they're accepted to.

Sorry to hear about that 🙁 I hope everyone gets a great acceptance asap. Are people only hearing back on Tuesdays?

You seriously have a great attitude about this whole thing...I am going to adopt you thinking philosophy, it would be much more beneficial to my personal health! haha Thanks again!🙂 And a wise person like you is bound to get an acceptance from somewhere soon!

hey everyone,

keep up the positive attitudes!!!! Do you guys notice a pattern with the interviews and responses? Is everyone hearing back on one day a certain number of weeks after the interview?

I don't think it's been very consistent in terms of the time from interview to notification, for example, both sphun and I had interviews in December (different weeks), and I believe Huskie99 had one in January (correct me if I'm remembering incorrectly?) and we all heard back on the same day.

Thanks! But it seems that everyone has been hearing back on Tuesday mornings? hmmmm

So, I just e-mailed the Admissions department and I am not sure what to expect now seeing as some people have already heard from some January interviews. I guess there will be even MORE waiting now... ugh

This is what they said:

Hello--
I interviewed January 10 and was wondering what method of communication you would use to notify applicants of their status.
Thank you!

them-> me
We would typically send e-mail and or written correspondence. You should hear from us by the end of March or early April.

I'm sorry to hear that. I'm really confused since I think people after Jan 10 heard back. Why do you think they are taking so long when it is supposed to be 4-6 weeks?

Congratulations to many of you, and for those still waiting to hear, I hope it will be good news!

Can anyone tell me what the average stats for those accepted to UConn are? I went there for undergrad, and I am a CT resident, but I wasn't complete until mid-October and will most likely have to reapply next year. Which is not ideal, but okay.

UConn is my top choice. I loved being there for undergrad, and I would LOOOVE to go here, but I am afraid I am not good enough stats-wise, so I am just wondering.

The average stats are 3.7 / 32. Their class is 80-90% CT residents. The school is more stats-oriented than most and they are somewhat rigid with expecting at least a 30 MCAT score (just to clarify, I know that people with below a 30 have gotten in, but you should plan for the worst and hope for the best if they are your top choice). If you don't have those kind of stats, it will be hard to even get your foot in the door. IMO, if you have below a 28 you would need to retake to have a greater-than-negligible chance.

Being complete in mid-October is not really that late, I believe I was complete around that time and interviewed on 12/6. The most important part is staying in touch with them. I met one of their admissions people in passing, and ended up emailing with them back and forth. I got a call for an interview invite within a few days of that. If I were you, I would set up a meeting with Dr. Zeff and see how you can improve your application. If you can get to know him personally AND you take his advice, you have improved your chances DRASTICALLY.

M1. 29Q/3.75. Invited Sept. Received acceptance 7 days after interview. Don't give up hope. Good luck to all. It is a great school. Believe it or not, the location is great. Lots to do. You won't be disappointed if you get in.

Hey guys,

So the 6 week mark is coming up on Tuesday for me *6 weeks from my interview. How long do you think I should wait before contacting them?

Great job! And thanks for the advice. I'm sure you had a great application.

I'd wait at least another 2-3 weeks. They did not have an ADCOM meeting in January, and didn't have many in December and February. So, they're a little behind. I had to wait 11 weeks for a response.

I'm already at the 8 week mark, so I would not contact them quite yet. I think I am going to go down and talk to them sometime this week or next week. And they did tell me probably by the end of March (maybe early april) they would have response for early January interviews.

Hey everyone,

Does anyone know if the committee is perhaps meeting today?

Thanks!

So anyone else going to the second look next week? I'm pretty excited!

Is it generally taking 9-11 weeks for everyone to hear back post-interview? Or have some people recently heard back in less time?

Also, is the consensus that the class is full by now, and that's why second look weekend will take place before many of us hear back?

So who is going to make the facebook group? The dental school already has one

Hey guys,

Just wanted to update you. I interviewed on January 24th and got a High Alternate Status via email. I hope the process goes well for everyone!

High Alternate Status ...

Interviewed Jan. 14

Good Luck everyone! 🙂

Same here... high alternate status.
Interviewed January 10.

I heard that there is a lot of movement on this waitlist and know someone who is here now that was in this category last year. So don't lose hope!

When is the day everyone has to decide? May 15?

Is there a facebook group up yet?

Is there a facebook group up yet?

I have been wondering the same thing. I am at work now, so I'll just make one. Figure it would be a more organize way for all of us to communicate.

On another note: who's going to 2nd look weekend?

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!
And good luck to everyone else!

So, at this point I'm guessing the class has been filled, but I am still waiting to hear. Can anyone comment on whether post-interview update letters are accepted or looked upon favorably here?

Can anybody comment of the problems with accredditation for the school last year and the likelhood that they will not be accredited when review happens at the end of the year?

the school was cited for small/almost inconsequential things, and many other schools get cited for this stuff pretty frequently. the curriculum and quality of the education at the school were not the issue, according to the people i have spoken with on the issue. so, i'd say the chance that they lose accreditation is zero, since they've already fixed and addressed many of the issues.

To add to those comments:
I work at the UCHC and my boss said that they would absolutely never let that happen because the School of Medicine is a huge source of money for them. I believe they have already fixed most of the things. I know one issue was there is no workout center for students, just to give an example of some of the accreditation stipulations. So, accreditation should not be a problem. (Though I was worried too).

I may be misremembering (could be about a different school), but one of the citations was the small student lounge for the class size so they're doubling the size for next year by moving the bookstore/giftstore to another location. I also know they lost their MSTP training grant in 08 but they said they were on track to regaining it this coming year.

Thank you all for the info. Sounds minor enough...

Has anyone who interviewed after January 24th heard back yet?

MerDer - it looks like you heard back just after the 6 week mark, correct?

Hey Strath,

Yes I did hear back exactly after six weeks. But if I'm not mistaken, people heard back from much earlier interviews the same time that I did. I wish you luck!

Am I to assume that if there was no indication for "high alternate status" that it means middle/low alternate status?

That's probably safe to assume but I would email them just to know for sure, that's just me.

thanks for the amazing basketball high, uconn. <3 love the uconn huskies!

Does anyone know if there was a committee meeting today?

Username12345, did you hear about your status today?

FYI, I called Dr. Zeff today and he said they would have the waitlist ranked by end of April/early May...

Oh my gosh, Username you are awesome! Did you mean ranked in terms of high/middle/low (because some already know their tiers) or numerically?
