My guess is probably not, but anything is possible. Orange county schools are closing at 1pm today, and the clinic where I work is closing at 5pm instead of 8pm. However, we may close even earlier. I don't know the schedule that the adcom will run today, but I'm betting that they close early as well.

LOL, this is agonizing. Not a snowflake has fallen in Chapel Hill but I understand - with what is expected to come - why they would all head home early today.

I wonder if they'll meet in consecutive weeks to make up for the holidays and these weather delays.

I just called the admissions office, and they are open! I'm pretty sure the adcom meeting will happen today!

Good luck everybody! Hopefully we get a call tonight!

:luck: :luck: :luck:

No snow yet!! I'm further south of Chapel Hill/Raleigh and we have at least 3-4 inches on the ground! That's good news I was convinced the committee would not meet today if you guys had as much snow as we do, but if there isn't any snow yet maybe they will!!! 🙂

Bad news, folks. UNC has officially closed the University starting at 5p tonight through 11a tomorrow.

Don't know if this will affect the adcom meeting but I have a feeling it will as they usually meet until 6p or so.

Sooooo depressing.....

So, I am assuming there was no meeting last night. Anyone brave enough to call and find out when the next one might be? I'm not sure about the snow in Chapel Hill, but where I am in NC the roads are pretty bad. Who knows when they will schedule the next meeting... There might not be another meeting till tomorrow, or even next Monday, OR even the next Monday! AHHH, the suspense is killing me!

i'm in chapel hill....the roads aren't too bad and my husband had to head to work (at UNC) today, so i'm sure everyone's back by now. we didn't even get an inch of snow, kinda bizarre considering the heavy snow in the surrounding areas. the real question is whether the adcom will meet today to make up for yesterday or not. it's anyone's guess.

We were so close guys! No meeting in a month, and then finally when we are close to one everything is canceled due to snow! So unfair! I wonder if they'll be able to make it up! I'm sure everybody on the board has super busy schedules ... so I hope they can get together before the 1/24!

🙁

My best guess is we will all have to buckle down and wait. As previously stated nearly every committee member will have other obligations on the other days. Remember many of them still see patients which doesn't stop just because of a dusting of snow. I say best case scenario is this upcoming Monday, but all this is just speculation!

I would be extremely surprised if they met on MLK day...just a thought

Sweet Moses, they're never going to meet!

Seriously, though, I assume at this point either the duration of existing adcom meetings is going to lengthen or they're going to schedule new meetings.

Not only have they really not acted on most of the interviews from Nov and Dec, they're going to start backlogging those interviews held in Jan.

It's kind of funny, in a way. What can go wrong, will go wrong.

Hopefully they'll send out more acceptances the next time they meet (since they haven't met in a while).. haha just a thought.

I've heard word that the adcom is still processing/reviewing candidates that interviewed in November and has not delved into the December and January candidates yet. However, please take this information with a grain of salt as I did not hear it directly from an official source. That being said, I hope everyone stays positive. Applications are constantly under review and no news means you are still in the running. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!

It is my impression they haven't met since the first or second full week of December. I interviewed on Tues, Nov 30 and I believe they met that Monday (Nov 29). If they have indeed not met since Dec 13, I'd imagine even some of Oct and most of Nov are still being considered.

Who knows, though? The awkward post-Christmas Monday and this week's snow seem to have thrown everything off. Regardless of the month one interviews, their application can be brought before the full committee at any time.

Did anyone have to reschedule an interview here because of the snow/ice ?

A friend of mine knows somebody on the adcom, and according to them, the last meeting of the fall semester was in early December, and the first of this semester was yesterday. This is a source that I trust, so I don't doubt that as true, but my friend was not able to tell me whether they made any admissions decisions during their meeting - considering no calls were reported last night, they might not have.

Interesting. I haven't heard of anyone receiving a call. Anyone else?

Definitely true. Interviewed on October 25, still no word. Sent an update/letter of interest last week--we'll see what happens.

If there was an adcom meeting there would be acceptances. They always come right after the meeting and at the interview it was even joked about that sdn would help us keep track of the meetings by the acceptances

Truth. There are several subcommittees, such as the re-applicant committee and the general subcommittees that elect which applicants go up to the full committee. There's also the screening of OOS, etc.

Perhaps one of those groups met. Who knows? The guessing is kind of futile at this point (though I'm guilty of this exercise in futility). Gah.

Hopefully it was the re-applicant committee.... I'm IS and I've been complete since early/mid November...

The deafening silence confirms for all of us that it is next Monday. Good luck to all early next week.

Hopefully a lot of acceptances go out ... being that it'll be the first meeting in a month and a half. I'm getting nervous.

Good luck everybody!

It would only be fitting if it snowed in Central North Carolina this weekend and early next week.

Noo, that's not even funny! It is actually supposed to snow Monday/Tuesday ... hopefully it changes.

Truthfully, my joke was made in complete ignorance of that forecast. Right now weather.com calls for a 'wintry mix' on Tuesday with the dodgy weather moving in Monday night - though it's too far out to predict when (e.g., early evening or truly overnight).

Wow, I really hope Mother Nature doesn't sideline the adcom, again.

Anyone interviewing on Monday? This weather talk is making me nervous... I hope I catch my return flight!

I really wouldn't worry about it. Though this has been an abnormally wet winter, North Carolina rarely gets serious weather. It is supposed to snow/rain in the evening. Even if it starts before you leave campus, RDU is close.

Trust me, you'll want to see UNC - it's awesome.

Oh, I'm DEFINITELY coming. I'd rather be stuck in Raleigh and miss work on Tuesday than miss this interview. I can't wait!

Come on box cars....

Good luck everyone!

Hey everybody, graduated from UNC-SOM last year. Just wanted to check in and congratulate everyone who's been accepted and wish everyone else the best of luck!

just got a call from "Unknown" and had to choke back tears of excitement...

it was 1-800-contacts telling me my order could not be processed because my prescription is expired.

and the wait continues.

Wow... that's terrible, I'm sorry. Had a similar thing happen to me last year, a graduate student at my lab called me around 5:45 on a Monday to ask me a question.

7:00pm and all seems quiet. Sigh.

I'm starting to think they're either not meeting tonight or, hope against hope, they're staying late because they're making more decisions than normal!

I interview 11/17 so this Wednesday is 10 weeks. They admit to not being great at their 6-8 week goal though, so who knows.

I interviewed September 21st and still haven't heard a thing...

I called last week to ask if I had missed an email or something, but was told to just hang in there. The gentleman who answered the phone, though, did seem noticeably surprised that I had been waiting for so long.

Accepted!! Got the call tonight from my adcom interviewer around 6:30pm ET. Excited beyond belief!! UNC is by far my top choice!

In-state
Third application cycle
35O
Ugrad GPA 3.35
Grad GPA 3.92
Secondary submitted: 9/24
Interview invite: 10/5
Interview: 11/12

Good luck to everyone!!

So even in this cycle they have notified acceptances on later days of the week.

I don't know guys ... even if the meeting was extended by an hour or two, it should be done by now. Im sure a non-sdner has received a call.

I think so too. I would imagine that they would call before 8pm. Well we'll find out sooner or later if they made decisions tonight or no. This sucks.

[/B]

Why do you say this?? Do you know for certain that someone has gotten a phone call?
Nothing here and my stupid phone keeps ringing about silly stuff 😱

Haha no, don't know anybody. I wonder how late they call too. Good luck! Hopefully tonight is our night guys!
