I'm pretty sure that they told us admissions would be rolling after the first group comes out in December. That is, not one big group in December and another big one in March, but a series of admissions from December until March. But, as usual, I'm not positive about this. They were very friendly and open to every question during the interview day, so you can get clarification when you're there. Good luck!:luck:

I got the exact opposite impression. Sadly, I think they said there would be a "lull" between the 1-2 rounds in December and the big round on March 1st or 2nd. 🙁

This is the impression I got as well.

I definitely got the impression with threadstalker that they are now doing rolling admissions and admitting people every few weeks starting in december (like how UA-COM PHX does it) but they did make it seem like the majority would come out later in the cycle

I thought it was a round in early December, followed by another wave in January, and then D-Day in March?

Could be. I hope I'm wrong about the Dec/March thing, but I definitely remember walking out of there thinking there were going to be 2 major waves. I definitely could have misheard/misunderstood, though.

So there's two of us from the same interview group who got this idea, and several others who have a different impression. Maybe they just phrased it differently between our interview groups, or simply misstated the process. Can we get a volunteer from an upcoming interview group to ask for specifics on this?

I wasn't very clear in my earlier post. I interviewed here on Tuesday, and we were told very unclearly that admissions decisions would come out on a rolling basis in December and March. A fellow interviewee asked for clarification: would there be decisions in Dec. and March only, or in between? She said that there would be one or two rounds in December, and then a "lull" until March 1st or 2nd, when all decisions would be released. She did say that this was subject to change. I don't know if a lull means no acceptances whatsoever, or very few acceptances, but it definitely didn't sound like truly rolling decisions.

Someone should definitely ask again though... so confused. 😕

Does anyone know, if UA accepts any update letters? Thanks so much

Has anybody recently received an interview? UA-Tucson is one of my top two choices, so I'm very eager to interview if they'll have me. 🙂

I got my interview invite a couple weeks ago on October 24th. I'm IS and my application was complete here on July 26th. It took a while before that II came, so you just have to be patient with this one.

I figured. I'm OOS with less than stellar stats (though a great rest of the app). It's just been a long time waiting. Do you know how long they interview for?

I think they interview through March. They got a late start this year because they were switching over to MMI format and it took a while to implement all of the changes. When I signed up for my interview date, dates were available to me through the end of February, so I'm sure there are dates after that for the invites to come.

That's certainly reassuring! I guess they're just trying to get through the backlog. If you were waiting since July, then I probably have a while...
🙁

I was complete on Oct. 7th. Does anyone know if I should be hearing about an interview or anything soon?

Probably Not. I didn't get my II until 3 months after my application was complete.

does anyone know the percentage of people who get accepted after their interview? Just got my II today and am surprised.... my stats are way below average... 8/8/8/R/3.67

I just got an interview invite! I was complete October 19th. Finally getting some love from my home state!

Historically it's been around 25%-ish. But since they're cutting the number of interviews they give, you can expect something around 30-35%.

I was complete on the 6th and I got mine, so I think it should be fairly soon?

If they are only interviewing 500 people for 110 spots.....then if everybody who they offered admission to decided to come that would be 110/500 or 22% acceptance rate. But obviously some people will choose other schools after the initial acceptances, leading to round two of acceptances in March. Last year they had 75 people matriculate off the waitlist, so if last year is any indication (and only accounting for initial class size acceptances and waitlist), this would be 185/500 or 37% acceptance rate.

My feeling is, though, that there is going to be more acceptances than this (i would guess maybe double the class size based on other schools and how much waitlist movement there is here). That would be 220/500 or 44% acceptance rate.

Anyways, just my own mumbo jumbo after a long day of work. Regardless of the actual numbers, if you have interviewed then you have the best odds of acceptance probably than of any other time in this god forsaken process.

After being complete in late July and then rejected in mid-October, I received an interview invite today!!

I have read the stories of other people who have gone through this and actually met another applicant it happened to at an interview but I did not really think it would happen to me. I am so happy for the invite because this is my state school and one of my top choices but the roller-coaster is gonna drive me crazy.

Anyway, good luck to everybody else applying, apparently you shouldn't give up hope even if rejected... 🙂

Interview put on hold.

I wish they would have given me an explanation, thought I would get a chance to interview. Good luck to everyone else !!!!

Phoenix campus? yup. If you are still curious, just call up or email Tara. Everybody in admissions tries to make the process as stress-less as they can, so don't think you are gonna shoot yourself in the foot if you are updating your file or telling them you are still uber-interested...

Tucson campus? What in the world do you wanna go there for???

Sorry - forgot to add that I'm an MS-1 in Phoenix. I'll be surfing over the forums to answer any random questions I feel like...

Interview invite today! After being put on hold and receiving that October rejection email no less. UA sure is making it exciting this year.

Complete 9/9 OOS and not a PEEP.. anyone else on the same boat? Received II from Phoenix within 6 days of completion :/

Complete since ~9/26 here. I haven't heard anything from Phx though... even though they interviewed me last year. :scared:

Tucson has been much slower to respond than Phoenix. I can't speak for OOS, but like I said earlier I am IS and was complete for 3 months before given an II in Tucson. Complete end of July, II at end of October. You just have to be patient with this one.

Both schools (Tucson and Phoenix) accepted my update letter last year. I don't know if things have changed this year, but if you've made substantial progress in your research/clinical experience since the initial application, it's definitely worth a try.

Tucson does not accept updates. I asked this over the phone prior to my interview, and during my interview day. Someone else on my interview day asked the same question. They have changed it this year and they do not accept updates.

Neurojunkie is amazing y'all - I hope you make good friends on here as we did last year. 🙂

I know it is in an incredibly difficult and stressful year, but remember that it is all worth it and hopefully you will get good news. I know the change in formats seems to have caused some issues, but try not to get too discouraged. As always, best wishes and let us know if you have questions.

wow. so humbled by my first invite of the cycle (rec'd last Fri). such a painfully frustrating and at times desolate process, but positivity is key. it's gotten me thru so far.

question for those who interviewed/any current tucson med students - does the school have any student host options? would love to cut costs by staying with a med student and the added benefit of learning more about the school directly thru him/her

any feedback is much appreciated 👍

I withdrew my application today (my interview is scheduled for tomorrow). Like a lot of other people, I wasn't impressed with how the admissions office handled applications this cycle. Although I wasn't one of the ones who was rejected and later invited to an interview, I have several friends who are exceptional applicants who UA Tucson overlooked. They asked why I decided to decline my interview and withdraw my application and I mentioned this to them. Hopefully they will treat everyone better next cycle.

Good luck to everyone else!

Anyone still waiting to hear back? Are they even still doing interviews?

Things seems pretty disorganized.

post interview hold right before thanksgiving...

Anyone ever get interviewed after hold?

I'm assuming you meant PRE-interview hold. I just got the same Email today. I'm a Montana resident so I'm treated as in state. Bummer.

Same question. Is this hold a death sentence or do I still have a good shot for an II later in the cycle?

Pre-interview hold here as well. I was rejected pre-secondary last year, so it's better... I guess.

Can you guys share when you were complete? I was complete early Sept. and still have not heard anything

I mean, I was rejected in October and then offered an interview a few weeks back, so...

I got the pre-interview hold only to get an interview invite 2 hours later today! So definitely not lose hope especially at this school! I know they have been unorganized, but I will give them credit for leaving a message on my phone clarifying the situation!

Oh wow they called you!? Well that's great, I'm hoping it was some kind of mistake but it's not the end of the world if they did in-fact put me on hold. Better than rejection I suppose.
