Oh wow they called you!? Well that's great, I'm hoping it was some kind of mistake but it's not the end of the world if they did in-fact put me on hold. Better than rejection I suppose.

Yes, I received my interview invitation via email yesterday as well, with an additional phone call from the admissions committee. The interview dates I had the option to choose from went from early January into the middle of February, so don't lose hope!

I'm assuming you meant PRE-interview hold. I just got the same Email today. I'm a Montana resident so I'm treated as in state. Bummer.

Same question. Is this hold a death sentence or do I still have a good shot for an II later in the cycle?

How are you treated like an instate if you're from Montana? I think Montana's pop is about to increase if this is common at medical schools.

WAMI. Move to Wyoming or Idaho for the same result.

Well actually it's WICHE but same idea. Some Select schools give us applicants from the western states without med schools a closer look. I think saying we're treated as in-state was a little overstated on my part. We get some preference at a few schools but being a resident of that state >>>>> being WICHE applicant.

Interviewing on January 10th, are there any current UofA - Tucson students out there gracious enough to answer a couple questions I had?

Thanks in advance 🙂

hey i am an MSI feel free to ask me any questions, and im sure others will chirp in as well.

We should see some acceptances going out this Friday, right? Acceptances have gone out the first Friday of December for the last 3 or 4 years...

Yes, the first round will go out Friday. There will be one more in Dec., two in Jan., and one in Feb.

Sorry, before I get my hopes up, where did you get this info? Are you basing this on previous years or is this on the UofA website? Thanks!

I second this question! Also, do they send out rejections along with acceptances? Or are people sent rejection letters later on?

I wrote that message on the ipad during this UA-Tucson interview, sad, eh?--

They had just gone over the release info a couple hours before. Trust me, there were plenty of questions regarding the matter, and the admissions staff was very clear! Awesome interview though-- very impressed with the school and the students there as well

They will send out the rejections later on... mid March they will send out wait list and rejection notifications.

Thanks for the info. Ahhhh so we can potentially find out this Friday 😵 ...It'd be great to find out within the 1st two waves in December...

Excellent! Thanks a ton. Let the email refreshing begin!

Hmmm anyone know if there is any logic to who they accept first? I hear it's different this year. And how many people get accepted each round?

Your guess is probably as good as anyone's. If history repeats itself, the answer to your questions is a riddle wrapped in an enigma. Like most of us on here, I have seen the absolute BEST candidates (on paper and in person) get rejected from UofA. The reasons why have been debated already.

Nonetheless, perhaps after a few rounds of acceptances and people posting their numbers and experiences, we will have a better picture of what UofA is looking for in future physicians.

As to how many each round, I believe it has historically been about 15 - 20 ish.

Is this forum for both Tucson and Phoenix campuses? I was rejected from Tucson campus but I got an interview coming up on Jan. 20th, 2012 at PHX.

Is there a helpful preparation for MMI style?

Nope here is the Phoenix thread:

Congrats on the interview! I got put on hold at Tucson so I'm still holding out hope for the Phoenix campus. As far as MMI preparation, I'm not really sure. Maybe do a quick search.

I would seek out every prompt you can find online and copy them into notecards. Practice giving yourself two minutes to think about the question and start talking. You can't prepare for the questions themselves, but you can train yourself to think correctly. Be sure to prepare yourself for more traditional questions- my MMI at phx had ~3 traditional questions.

Thanks for the tip! So, there would be 10 stations to rotate, right? I heard that PHX campus is very small size of the class. I wonder if the class is mostly full by January next year.

Hey everyone, if you're interested I just made the Ultimate Human Podcast on Medicine with my guest Dov Brandis (MSII) from The University of Arizona, Tucson.

Warning! - Not endorsed in any way by the UoA or any other medical school, but fully endorsed by me.

Thank you Erik and Dov, your "Hidden Curriculum" Youtube video and this subsequent podcast make me want to attend UA-Tucson even less.

Uhm. Hmm. I THINK there were ten, plus break stations. Maybe. Sorry- it's been almost a year. They really do clear up all confusion beforehand. Plus, your nametag has the order in which you're supposed to go to the rooms, so it's pretty simple. From what I've seen on that thread, they really have only released 10-15 acceptances per date, so it *shouldn't* be full. That's what I'm hoping, anyways, as they're my top choice and I'm interviewless this cycle.

Thanks again for the response! Don't lose your hope, yet. I am sure you will hear something good soon. Since you are expressing continual interest in this school, I was thinking of suggesting you to send a letter of intent. But, I guess LOI will be more effective when put on hold or on the alternate list. If there is a meaningful change or something you have done while waiting, I would still suggest you to update with the admission. That is just how I would do if I am on your boat.

At my interview this week, someone asked about how many seats would be filled after the first interview (how many offered), and they said about 25...

Do we know more exact dates on the 2nd round in Dec. and the rest of em? Ahh my anxiety is killing me. If I were to find out tomorrow....oh man... and So I thought about it. 5 rounds, ~125 acceptances = ~ 25 each round right?

If I remember correctly they said the majority of acceptances would be sent in march

Hmmm I wonder if they're really sending out acceptances today...they're running interviews. Well I guess if anyone gets any acceptances they'd prob post on SDN right? haha assuming they go on sdn..

I assume so. I'm wondering too...I haven't heard anything yet and I was hoping MAYBE I would hear today if I got in because I was interviewed on the very first interview date. I'll let you know if I hear anything. Maybe this afternoon...

I emailed admissions a couple days ago and asked. They're sending out the first batch either today or Monday.

The suspense is killing me too...I'm praying a get in...=[ it's prob going to be sent on Monday since they have interviews all day..

Acceptance came via email from the admissions office.
