Interview invite this morning (IS). Complete since 8/4. However, I didn't have one of my LORs submitted until early October -- perhaps that played a role in the delay. Couldn't be happier!

Congrats to all those accepted already 🙂

Finally got an interview invite today. IS, complete early Aug.

True to their word. Gotta hand it to the admissions office for being so on track. They said 10/24 and yep, it came! Accepted. 😀 Congrats to others.

I've been complete since 9/28. They cashed my check on 10/3. I know it's only been about three weeks, but it seems like they were getting back to people sooner than this.

Has anyone else experienced these delays, or should I give them a call just to check?

By the way, congrats to those who have been accepted!

In a similar situation. I've been complete since 8/12 but one letter didnt get in until 8/20. Still havent heard a single thing called the office and they said i was still under review with the adcom and they had no idea when I would hear anything. If it makes you feel better give them a call they are really nice, but they will just tell you the same thing.

I was complete early in august I think. Just today got my interview invite. So that was a 2+ month wait for me without hearing anything.

+1

The transparency and organization of the Phoenix campus sets it apart, in my opinion, from many other schools. It's strange to me how the UA med schools can be so different, especially when the "new" school runs so smoothly.

Did anyone who was eligible for the first round of acceptances, and who didn't get accepted, end up getting accepted on the second round yesterday? My theory is that this is highly unlikely considering they have so many newly interviewed applicants to choose from each round. Here's to hoping we don't have to wait till April to hear anything.

You know, I was wondering the same thing. I think it's extremely unlikely that anyone would be offered an acceptance if they got passed up the first time around.

Actually, this is exactly my case. I was pretty surprised when I got the acceptance letter too.

That's what I thought too, then I began to reassure myself by thinking that earlier interviewees will have better chances than later interviewees because the school thought they were stronger candidates and hence invited them early for an interview. So I think there will be acceptances for early interviewees even as the rounds go along :xf:

Not to piss in your cheerios or anything, but maybe they just submitted earlier? I interviewed in the first round last year and was rejected in April.

Sad, but probably what we should expect. I know they said they anticipated sending about 150 acceptances. Does anyone know if that includes people that come off of the wait list too? For anyone wondering: For the class of 2014, they had about 120 total acceptances sent out (including those taken off wait list) for the class of 48.

Same, but I'm not holding my breath. I at least have another acceptance to hold onto, so the situation isn't as dire as last year. I'd still like to stay in AZ for med school though. 🙁

Most of the students I met from Phoenix said they didn't get accepted right away. It's not over yet, plenty more people will be accepted and I'm sure that some of us who interviewed early still have a shot.

There's gonna be a lot of wait list movement here. It's a fact that a lot of people accepted here will end up going somewhere else.

I would like to thank the two of you for bringing some optimism to this thread and helping me to keep my hopes up. 👍

During my interview this week, they said they've accepted 32 students so far.

Anywho, if you have any Q's about interview logistics, I'm happy to share.

Wow threads been quiet for a while now just like UAPHX. Any new people getting interviews?

Two questions regarding the MMI interview:

1) Can you take notes while reading the scenario?

2) Can you bust out your smartphone to get ideas 🙂 ?

In case someone doesn't pickup on my sarcasm, #2 is also 'No'.

in phoenix they also have the question inside the room so you can refresh yourself on the details if u have to, but they're not so complicated, i don't think, that you'd have to take notes or remember a lot.

Thank you for your reply!

I was wondering if you could tell me the breakdown of the types of questions. (not looking for specifics)

In general, are they mainly ethical questions/ healthcare questions or acting stations or other?

Thanks!

Just received this from a friend who attends Phoenix. Good news for all of us in the application process!!

Class Size Officially Increases to 80

The University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix has been informed by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) that the college may expand the downtown Phoenix campus to 80 students per year from 48.

Although the LCME – the nationally recognized accrediting authority for medical schools -- doesn’t grant permission to increase the class size, it does determine if there are adequate resources to accommodate a larger class. In concert with the LCME’s assessment, we are planning to admit 80 students in the summer of 2012.

The new Health Sciences Education Building now under construction and scheduled to be completed by July 2012 will accommodate the larger class size.

This is a critical step in the development of our campus. Thank you to all who have worked to make this a reality.

Hmm not sure if we can give you that information, per the confidentiality agreement we all signed. Just realize that there really isn't much you can do to prepare. Any information that helps you answer the question will be given to you on the prompt. There really isn't anything to know, so just be yourself. They'll explain everything the day of your interview

Nice!! This was expected but it's nice to hear that it's official

Phx is my top choice by far, so I'll admit I might be obsessing a little.

If 32 acceptances have gone out so far, how are they only accepting 10-12 per day? Seems like that might be an average over the entire cycle... which is a bit worrisome for me, as I haven't interviewed yet. I've been complete for 30 days now. =(

They told us this information before we went into the MMI so I think it's ok--there was one acting, two "teamwork" stations (not sure what they called this?) and then the other 5 or so were discussion, but they could be about anything and that's where I don't think I can give specifics. You won't need to take notes though, you shouldn't have to memorize anything before you walk into the room and you have enough time to really contemplate the question and start to formulate your thoughts on it.

I can't even remember how many stations we went to total. Maybe it was 8 with two breaks?

They go over all of the general stuff before you get to the MMI so you won't be lost. They do an excellent job with the whole day.

Does anyone know what the other release dates are after tomorrow?

I *think* they go Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19, Jan. 2 (or 12?), Jan. 30, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 2.

I wrote these down in a hurry at my interview day, so they might not be totally correct.

It's up in the air at the moment because I'm still waiting on some other interviews. I definitely got the sense I could be happy here tho! 🙂

Though you wouldn't be able to tell from my dearth of posts here, Phx is my top choice. Here's to hoping they finally get around to interviewing me. :scared: I'd love nothing more than to see all the acceptees in July. :luck:

Congrats to those accepted today!
Btw, has the school been officially approved for the class-size expansion? If not, they will probably not accept as many OOS students yet since it is still 25% cap for OOS. Just another OOS applicant hoping for the lack of news 🙂

Someone posted a few posts back on this page that they were approved for it. There is nothing on the website yet, as far as I can see.

I made a seat deposit at another school...I love UA-Phx but I needed to feel like I had something set in stone.

I'd still love to go here but I'd be happy at the other school as well. Still lots of time left, we'll see what happens. :xf:

Congrats to all those who have been accepted!

II today! (email confirmation of mailed documents on 11/1, OOS, nontrad) Scheduled for 12/12 which was the last interview day this year....there were quite a few dates open in January. UA Phoenix sounds like an awesome program so I'm really excited to learn more about it on interview day. 🙂
