Congrats to all those who have been accepted!

II today! (email confirmation of mailed documents on 11/1, OOS, nontrad) Scheduled for 12/12 which was the last interview day this year....there were quite a few dates open in January. UA Phoenix sounds like an awesome program so I'm really excited to learn more about it on interview day. 🙂

I'd like to say congrats, but I've been complete since 10/4 without hearing anything. Not that I'm obsessing or anything. *twitch*

Anyhow, Phoenix is a great school. You'll like their interview day (reapplicant).

Good Luck! There is a lot of randomness in this process! :luck::luck::luck:

If you don't mind my asking, what are your stats? You got an insanely fast turnaround. I'm hoping you have some crazy stats, not that Phoenix doesn't like me.

any interview invites lately for OOS? Complete around Oct 17th.... :xf:

lgreggy, Congrats! If you don't mind my asking, what are your general stats and when did you interview?

GPA: 3.75; MCAT: XX (sorry too personal); 5 publications (one of w/c I co-authored landed in Annals of Emerg Medicine) 8 yrs of clinical experience - hopefully some school shows me love; if not they will see my application again next year and the year after that until one of them says yes 😀

Does anybody know if they do pre-interview rejections or if they just keep us all in limbo until March?

They did pre-interview rejections last year - seems like I remember this happening before winter break. I'd imagine by then they will have made all final reviews considering the deadline to apply through AMCAS was nov. 1.

Well, in that case, no news is certainly good news. Thanks.

Rejections aren't 100% either. I got one from the Tuscon campus only to be invited for an interview 4 weeks later.

Don't get me started on Tucson - their gross negligence and multiple faux pas' have disengaged me enough that I withdrew my application. Here's a common Tucson story. Initial rejection, no secondary. 4 weeks later - rescind rejection and offer secondary. Applicant completes secondary and is rejected. 2 days later, a message is sent claiming an administrative error occurred and promise of a new 'revised status' message will be sent. 1 day later, a revised REJECTION notice is sent. Seriously, you can reject someone and then say it was a mistake only to reject the person again 2 days later. Disgusting.

I don't see that happening in Phoenix. They've been impressive, consistent and on top of the ball at every turn. Professional staff, happy students and a well-organized interview day.

in state complete since september-no interview, no emails, nothing. =/

Yeah no news for me either and I was also complete in September 🙁 ....OOS though. I'd love to come visit Phoenix! It's been absolute silence from the two Arizona schools for me.

+1...but with an email from Tucson for Interview Hold

what's with all the whining? You either want to go to med school or you don't. if you want to, then you'll take whatever comes your way and if you get an invite you thank your lucky stars, and if you don't you try to do better next time. whether the admissions office is organized or not or made mistakes or not are irrelevant. if the quality of education at this school is good enough, then that's all that matters. if you bothered to apply here, then you must've determined that it is, so stop whining. if you've decided it's not, then go ahead and withdraw, and leave more seats open for the rest of us! 🙂

re: Tucson - I also believe the way in which you see the program as an applicant is the true institutional culture and I would rather find a program that values me as a student. I know I'll need student support services throughout medical school, including academic support, financial aid assistance, or just a friendly smile when I have paperwork to turn in. For me, this matters. For me, Tucson failed. For me, I would rather not go to medical school for a year and reapply to other programs if it meant finding the right fit for me. I am not that desperate for medical school to ignore these convictions.
'
Not whining. Just paying close attention to the programs that I am amount to invest 100k and four years of my life. It's more than just getting into ANY medical school for me.

+pity+

bunch of whiny little kids who need to feel pampered before they can get any work done. obviously UoA is turning out quality doctors who are meeting the needs of the state. your whining is irrelevant.

if your username is a reference to your age, I've got a few on you - not a little kid. Student services are important for a career-changing, professional like me.

not a kid, but still expect to be pampered like one. student services are important, but minor glitches in the process don't make the school unworthy. if you have the option to "shop around" then good for you, go right ahead. :luck:

I chose Phoenix over other schools for many reasons, but certainly one of them was exactly what WildDevil is talking about. Sure, I'm talking about turning down these schools after I had been accepted, but even still, WD has a point. You're going to be living and breathing medicine, and while right now it's very exciting, you will likely experience some of the most trying times of your life. I have been so thankful for the staff and faculty support and for, for the most part, being able to focus on what I need to do to succeed in med school and not some irritating administrative things. These things seem meaningless to you now, but when you get to the point where you don't have time to even buy groceries you'll appreciate that kind of support. And yeah, med school is expensive in addition to being time-consuming, so pay money to a school you want to be at. You will be amazed at the importance of your happiness and sanity. Trust me, I'm an MS3 on Surgery right now.

And hey, in the end, go to the school that is right for you. Maybe you don't feel these things are important to you and that's fine. Good luck to all of you.

Words of wisdom from a true Jedi Master! 😛

Big day tomorrow!! Hope everyone gets good news! :xf: Will you guys post your interview date if/when you post good news? Not sure if my interview group (10/31) will hear back yet. :luck: :luck: :luck:

I interviewed 10/31 too.. and they told us that we should hear back tomorrow if we got in! Really hoping for this one! :luck:

Thanks!
32P/4.0 instate applicant. I think I've updated my MDApps so you can check that out. I interviewed October 17th.

I completely agree with this and I withdrew my application to UA Tucson today (before my interview).

Accepted! I think...?!?! Watching some crazy video, shaking and not sure what's going on haha. :luck: to all. Interviewed 10/31.

There was kexy who got in, but that is all I have heard about. Usually there are a few here saying they got in.

I know I have noticed that, its kinda weird that there hasn't been any other people with good news. Maybe the whole veteran's holiday weekend put them behind...thats being extremely optimistic haha

Yeah.. it is a real bummer! Was really hoping for this one 🙁 ... but he interviewed same day I did so I definitely got passed up

I think a lot of us from 10/31 were hoping for this one. Hopefully we will hear good news on the next batch in two or three weeks.

I was really hoping for this one too...waiting is the worst. I interviewed nov 7th, but who knows this whole process is just uncertainty

I kinda wish that they would tell some people no. That way, you at least get some feedback about your interview, and if you don't hear anything, you at least know they liked you enough to remain in consideration.

I completely agree...some sort of feedback would make me feel a lot better. But on an up note I remember from my interview day that they said people who get accepted have two weeks to respond, so that is kinda hope that all along new spots will be opening up as people decide where they want to go.

Just for some reference: 2 cycles ago they sent out a total of about 118 acceptances (including those coming off waitlist) for a class of 48. Assuming same ratio of acceptances offers to matriculants, they will send out a total of 190-200 this year. The fact is that UA Phoenix accepts a lot of people that end up going somewhere else. You just have to wait it out. There are a lot of us still waiting! (myself included)

That is true and makes me feel better, gotta love the waiting game. I am pretty hopeful still

their computer systems may have glitches (so maybe it's the programmers' fault) so people get reject emails by mistake etc. this doesn't meant their staff don't care about the students and that they wouldn't be supportive of the med students. it's over reacting to withdraw from a school pre-interview just because they sent out a few wrong emails. i know this is an emotional process, but this is nothing compared to the emotional challenges of actual med school, residency, and practice. so if just a few wrong emails can get you all tangled up, I think you might have bigger issues to deal with. 🙄

any way, to each his/her own. good luck with making the choices that are right for you. :luck:

We've already had this debate, startoverat40 - this is Broother's opinion (a current medical school) who, like me, values the "small things".
