Submitted.

One note: The fee they list is $70, however when you click the link to pay, it changes to $80. It also hasn't updated my 'payment status' on the first page... although I'm sure there's just a bit of lag time before it registers.

Also, regarding experiences, the AMCAS prompt only asks for the most meaningful experiences. IIRC, it doesn't specify that the experience had to be transformative in regards to your path towards medicine. The UCD prompt does specifically ask how the experience "prepared you for a medical career." Just a thought.

Um... I don't think anyone at my university (UCLA) will meet the requirements for the Organic and General chemistry unit requirements. We take 2 quarters of each (8 units) and 1 quarter each for lab (3 units). That means a total of 11 units, and the minimum on the Davis app is 12. 😕

gen chem is 11 but ochem is 12 (14CL is 4 units)

nice to know a fellow bruin is out there in the trenches too

Oh right thanks for the correction. I guess I'm going to end up calling Davis about gen chem then

In the prerequisite section there is "lower div bio with lab" but my school's lower div bio didn't include a lab component. Should I just list the lower div bio courses anyway and leave it at that? Anybody else in a similar position? I want to submit this damn thing already but the message center isn't checked on weekends.

Edit: Submitted application yay!

I put an upper division lab to fufill the lower div lab requirement.

Yea I feel kind of ripped off with that. $10 buys my lunch....I paid, have an email receipt, submitted app, but still have a red X on payment.

It's been a day now and the charge has gone through on my card... Still red X as well.

I'll call on Monday if it still hasn't changed 🙁

My Red X for payment didn't change to green until the payment cleared my credit card.

We just list enough classes to fulfill the requirement right? Those required units are quarter or semester?

It appears they are all going out... I was rejected pre-secondary last year and I'm a Sacramento valley native. I was hoping to at least be able to submit a secondary. Does UCD employ cut-offs that I am unaware of?

out of curiosity when do you find out if you were rejected presecondary?

Are the units required in semester or quarter? Do we just list enough classes to fulfill the requirement or we have to list every class that could be used? I tried to call admission at 3 pm PCT but nobody picked up.

Hmmm, I tried to find the email in my inbox, but I think I deleted it when I got it. I was pretty disappointed, so this isn't a surprise to me. =) But I did get a notification that I was still in review about 3 months after I submitted my application, so I am guessing it was about 4 months after my AMCAS was verified. Sort of an agonizing amount of time to wait, but that is sort of the name of the game here, eh? Good luck!

The units required are listed as quarter units. (1.5x semester units, but when you list classes, list them with the original transcript units; don't convert.) I don't know about the other question though.

anybody know when we add the courses, are we just adding the prereqs, or are we adding ALL of our classes again?

Did anyone ever answer this question? I'm a postbac so all of my prereqs are the bare minimum, but I have an entire English degree's worth of lit classes...where do you draw the line, and which applicable classes do you enter if you exceed the minimums?

I would just add the prerequisite classes. They will be able to see all of your coursework on your AMCAS.

Anybody working on this secondary this week? I'd like to submit by July 1 👍

ok their payment site said that it would take 30 minutes to reflect payment received... yet I paid last week and it still says I have not paid. It cleared my credit card as well... Anyone else in this situation?

The red X next to payment received is still there, and I paid it. In fact I got nervous I didn't do it right, so I paid it again, and it still hasn't turned green. Anyone find out what the deal with that is?

I sent them a message via the message center and it was resolved the same day.

I contacted their office about payment issues (I paid on the 23rd and still red x), and they said that the tech people are working on the issue. She asked for my AMCAS ID and when I paid and told me she'd go ahead and work on it. I'm not sure when they will fix it/if its automatically going to be fixed for all people who made payments, but if you are really worried or are ready to submit your app, I suggest you contact them.

third time's the charm!

Submitted to Davis last night! Really hoping for an interview here this application cycle :xf:

Took about 5 days until the website reflected that I paid. Didn't call or anything, still haven't finished my secondary, so didn't see a reason to bother them about it.

So, reading through the websites for Valley-PRIME and Rural-PRIME, both of them fit (albeit in different ways) how I envision my medical practice. Is it advisable to just pick one? Will it hurt to discuss both of them?

Has anyone else had issues with the prerequisite classes reordering themselves? They aren't in chronological or alphabetical order within the course subject area, and they've been changing their order on their own. 😕

they reorder themselves in some random order, but whatever, if it's all there then it doesn't matter

I feel so behind because I don't have a secondary yet. 🙁

Is anyone else not answering the first question? Are we expected to? I mean, not to say I don't have any weaknesses in my application, but what I do know I lack in isn't something I want to draw attention to.

I think the idea is that, as a doctor, it is important to recognize your weaknesses and limitations and figure out ways to correct them.

I was wondering if anyone knew how much emphasis UC Davis will put on a military service? I served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a combat medic (not american) I am considered CA resident. I think they will laugh at my secondary because they required me to put approximate hours of my military experience (2yrs=17000 hrs)
Heres for hopefully moving to Sacramento! 🙂

Verifiefd 6/29
Secondary Invite 6/30

I had the same thought after approximating hours for 16 years in my sport!

Yes I agree, but I don't think there is anything blatantly concerning on my application that I'd like to draw attention to.

I'm simply curious if I'll be shot down by not answering.

You guys think it would a terribly idea of I tried to explain that I took harder classes (hence maybe why I don't have the highest GPA)?

depending on ur ECs maybe hint that you could have been more involved with the community or that you want to get more involved with the community...based on all the Qs they seem to be very into community involvement

I used it to explain my GPA cuz i started out as an engineering major and ended 2 yrs of engineering with a 2.97 then went to the military then switched to bio and graduated from my 2nd school with a 3.7 so I just explained that engineering was not easy and I did my best in the classes...

Just got an e-mail from UC Davis saying that my Secondary Application is complete and under review...but I haven't even submitted it yet. Anyone else get this e-mail?

PNUT, the Secondary notices go out if you have submitted your essays and your pre-reqs AND if we have received you fees and LOR from your school.

Have you done the first two yet?

I received the secondary email and I haven't even submitted my primary. What the hell UC Davis???

It's okay, I got it too. I applied last cycle and am going to UCI SOM this fall!!!

Sorry UC Davis, I'm spoken for 😛.

I got the same email. I haven't even started the secondary yet lol. It also says I've paid the fee already, which I haven't. Looks like their tech is all out of wack.

It sounds like UC Davis is going the anti-screening route this year.

EVERYONE gets a free, completed secondary, even those who didn't apply!

Ehhh, as a rough guesstimate I would say they're cutting down 4,000 primaries to 2,000 secondaries (to 500-600 interviews)

So are the 500 character responses with or without spaces?
