Anyone you'd like can come.. That being said, on my revisit day, it would have been awkward had anyone brought their parents. Bringing your significant other seemed more natural. If you need your s.o.'s input into deciding if the school is right for you, bring 'em along for suuure.
It's a very social event, and everyone talks about the med school application process/how excited they are to start/what being a med student will be like. If you S.O. isn't in med school, they might feel a bit out of their element. If they ARE in med school, they may get hammered with questions and be the all star of the day 🙂.These were just my observations.
On my day there weren't any parents and maybe a tenth of the students brought their s.o.'s
You'll get a schedule beforehand but the day will probably include a med student panel, tour of the med school and hospital, food, talking to some of the deans, some simulated patient encounters, etc..
Note concerning dress code because it will probably come up: it's business casual and for guys that means slacks and a long sleeve button down without a tie.. For ladies think snappy causal, slacks or skirt with a nice blouse.
Not sure if there will be a first look at UCI this year, but these generalities will probably apply to other schools as well.
