UCSF have no undergraduate school.
UCSF have no undergraduate school.
Regents scholarships are given throughout the UC system as well, including schools with undergrads. Though I remember specifically hearing they are also available to med students (could be wrong).
I believe someone earlier said there could be as many as 100 this year, but can anyone confirm that?Anyone know how many applicants are on the alternate list this year? I'm curious to know if the number of students on the alternate list is substantially different now that we know there's no HPL this year.
I called and was told there is no high priority waitlist this year. The number that get off the waitlist varies from year to year, last year nearly 50 were taken off the waitlist, I heard. There could be as many as a 100 on the waitlist this year. So as we have no idea where we stand, I guess it is a waiting game.
I also went back and checked the 2009 thread and looked like there were 60 or 80 waitlisted. I guess that year 30 to 40 people got off the waitlist.

Also just got the alternate list update, interviewed 02/06. Am bummed, UCSF was one of my favorite interviews 🙁
This is basically a waitlist, right?
Is UCSF like Northwestern in that pretty much everyone who doesn't get in is thrown on a waitlist with very few outright rejections handed out? Is there actually a shot in hell of getting off the alternate list once you're on it?
I (sadly) agree, I was surprised/doubtful about those numbers. Sometimes i think we're playing a big game of telephone. Maybe Spring37 will come back with the details? If someone else gets up the guts to call for specifics, let us know!
In past months groups (including mine) many were rejected post interview. I had a friend who was rejected, and I know a big cycle of rejections went out just before I got accepted. Hopefully the wait list will move, crossing my fingers for you.
Also wait listed on monday. Although it sounds like we have at least a 30% shot. A few questions in my head:
Did anyone get accepted/rejected with the most recent batch?
Is your spot on the wait list set in stone once you're on the wait list?
When I interviewed, one of my interviewers said letters of intent do nothing. Anyone else here differently?

Has anyone out there gotten info about the second look weekend? I know we got our schedule, but what about hosts? Is there a FB page?
Any of you fine gals or guys know when financial aid awards will be going out? Thanks!

i just received an email with a link to access financial aid offer. i am quite disappointed in my offer, but hope that others will receive something closer to their expectations.
Also got an offer... compared to other schools, it sucked. Hope I can use my other fin aid offers as leverage.
They explicitly say they don't negotiate, but you have nothing to lose by trying.
Mine sucked too, going to withdraw. Good luck everyone!
I was told they'd go out at second look weekend. Does anyone know the best-case scenario for financial aid awards (including any merit aid)? One financial aid officer told me that a $10k grant is the best case, but another told me that some students are offered tens of thousands in grants.
Where do they say they don't negotiate? I was really hoping they would 🙁
A $10K grant is 10 of a thousand.
From the email they sent out telling us aid decisions were available online.
"Please note that UCSF does not negotiate university grant and scholarship award amounts. These awards are need-based and your eligibility has been determined based upon need analysis standards established by the U.S. Department of Education and UCSF awarding policies. We will, of course, make adjustments to reflect changes in yours or your familys financial circumstances."
