they probably looked over my app already then if you got verified 7/8/11.

amcas verified on 6/29, mcat >33, GPA >3.3. Email notifying me of received app tonight and secondary invite followed pretty much immediately. excited 🙂

primary processed 6/6, file acknowledged as ready to review on 7/7, still haven't heard a word back :/. I already had submitted my LORs. GPA >3.5, mid 30s MCAT, OOS.

Update: I got the secondary invite last night. Yeah, it seems like a variety of people are getting secondary invites. Good luck everyone!

Thought I'd been out of the running by now since so many people had already gotten secondaries, but I just got the secondary!!! OOS, 4.0/42; I was AMCAS verified in the second week of June. So it's not chronological or by stats. Go figure 😕
 
Out-of-stater verified and sent secondary in the same week. And I don't have insane stats or research experience. No LORs submitted yet.

So excited--hang in there, people!

EDIT: Same week = this week.
 
Got receipt of my amcas app last night but no secondary yet- hope I didn't get screened out already 🙁 (3.74/37 IS)
 
Got the secondary last night, 3.9/31 OOS. They obviously look beyond MCAT scores for the screen, no one should discount themselves because of it 🙂
 
Secondary this morning! >3.7, mid-30 MCAT, IS, non-trad
 
Has anyone not gotten the secondary immediately after the amcas receipt?
 
Have any MSTP applicants gotten a secondary? I was verified 6/20/2011; 4.00/37 OOS

Thank God! I have similar stats (cGPA of 3.82 in BME, sGPA of 3.93, but 31R MCAT🙁)

However, I have received the receipt email but still waiting for the secondary invite!
 
Received an e-mail last night that they were beginning to review my application to determine if I would receive a secondary. Received a second e-mail, 2 minutes later with the secondary status update!
 
I got a receipt email and secondary invites that immediate followed last night😀
I think they looked at more than GPA and MCAT since my stats are only >3.8/29:laugh:

Yep I've received the receipt but still not secondary.
 
just received email "Your verified AMCAS application has been received", no invite yet...

maybe due to the fact my LORs are not in atm
 
Finally got the secondary invite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Received both "your amcas has been received" and "status update" emails at the same time.

I got mine today and my LORs came in today as well. I don't know if its just a coincidence though.
 
I called the admissions office and they said I should get my LORs in because they will not review my application if it isn't in, from what I remember...

I got the secondary before my letters were in. You just need them in to be complete
 
Is the secondary invite the same as the status update email? Because I received an "AMCAS received" email and a "status update" email but no email specifically inviting me to submit a secondary. When I log onto my account to check my status though, it says "secondary requested."

so if all of our stuff is in, and got the "received from amcas" email but didn't get the secondary invite right away, should we pretty much assume we're out of the running to get one?

No, I was reading through last year's thread and some people received secondary invites for 12 to 13 weeks after the AMCAS email. And those people had some interview invites too

It also looks like most people were notified of their rejection only through the status check website without receiving an email, but the rejections were not this soon

I would check last year's thread. IIRC, there were people who got the received email and later were sent a secondary.

I don't know for sure, but I would read through that thread to learn more.

Nope. I got the invite to fill out the secondary 8 days after the initial AMCAS received email. Keep up hope! :luck:
 
To confirm, they dont need your letters until you submit your secondary.

I received the AMCAS receipt e-mail on 7/12, and received the status update secondary e-mail last night (7/20). OOS.
 
Anyone willing to post the secondary prompts? Got the AMCAS received email 7/12, nothing since though, and no changes on my status website. Hoping to get a jump start because it's coming, right? 😀

It says "If you wish to update or expand upon your activities, you may provide additional information below." So I'm just expanding on some of the activities I've done, focusing on aspects that I wasn't able to include in my PS or work/activites section on the AMCAS. Hope that helps

Anyone know what the MCAT/GPA cutoffs are for an automatic secondary is (unless they hand review everything)?
 
UCSF is my dream school. Just got a secondary at 12:30 am Central Time last night. Non-traditional OOS applicant. Hopefully I can wrangle an interview...
 
Amcas verified 7/27 4:00 pm(EST). email confirming amcas was received 7/28 1:30 am(EST). received an email also at 1:30 am(EST) with an invitation for secondary. oos reapplicant (first time to ucsf). 38/3.75

Did everyone do the "additional info" essay?

I didn't do the additional essay because, well, not much has changed since I submitted my primary (graduated and working).

And I don't think you get a "complete" email. The email you get after submitting says to wait 24 hrs for your status to update, so I'm assuming that you have to check your status on your own.

Anyone have any idea when they start handing out interview invites? I've been complete since 7/16 and getting a bit antsy.

(37S, 3.93 sGPA, OOS)

I think it'll be a while yet. You can search through the 2010-2011 thread, but I think they started giving out invites in September.
 
Does anyone who has MCAT less than 29 and who is not URM ever receive a secondary?? Good luck to all of you who already got it.
 
A person I work with has a 27 and received one.

I have a 32Q, no secondary yet.
 
verified 7/1... still no secondary.... 35 MCAT 3.9+ gpa
Should I worry at this point?

I was verified in early June and still haven't received one (higher MCAT, lower GPA). They most likely have tons of applications, and the screening process takes time. I am a re-applicant and didn't get a secondary until September 1st last time (granted with a MUCH lower MCAT and a slightly lower GPA than I have now). I don't think there is any need to panic quite yet. They haven't even given out interviews!
