This gives me hope! OOS, Completed late July, both this & JMP, but still haven't heard a peep from here or any other UC school. *sigh of hope*
 
Sitting at 9/10 weeks after AMCAS submission...still no word on a secondary :-\
 
Does anyone know if prerequisites must be completed before a notification of acceptance is granted at UCSF or any other UC medical school? I know this is the case for UC Davis, but is Davis the outlier here?

In light of the collective head shaking at the "stat gunner," I thought it would be interesting to share that at the interview Dean Wofsy said that "it doesn't matter if you have a 32 or a 41 on your MCAT." Basically, he was explaining that once you get to the interview stage, they just want to learn about who you are and your personality to assess if you're a good fit. If you have an interview just relax and be yourself! Good luck! :luck: This school is amazing.
 
For those who interviewed, what time was the day over? Trying to book a shuttle, and the website is very mysterious about the interview day schedule 🙄

The earliest you could finish would be 3pm, although some interviews are scheduled as late as 4pm, meaning you would finish at 5pm. I'm not sure you can know your exact schedule until they hand you a packet on the morning of the interview day. UCSF likes a little mystery, I suppose.

At any rate, good luck on interview day!

Happy to help! On another note, I just realized from your mdapps that we have been on two interview days together so far. Alas, I can't say that we have actually met. Different interview groups perhaps...

Enjoy the rest of your interview cycle and here's to hoping we cross paths again but actually realize it. 😀

I think if it's only later in November the difference in date shouldn't be a big deal. I'm not exactly sure how they do their admissions, but I was under the impression that they're rolling and they accept as they go, but wait until December to release a flood of decisions. Not sure, though.

And good luck to you too! I'm SO excited - this is my top choice and I will FLIP OUT if I get in here!

Follow your heart : ) Is UCSF an amazing school? Yes. Is it one of the best in the nation? Yes. Is it kinder to OOS than most UC schools? Yes. Is it in paradise, AKA California?

Nuff said. Go apply : )
 
Got the secondary... completed 8/24. Just waiting, waiting
 
Would UCSF be receptive to en email telling them I'm still interested if I'm just waiting on a secondary invite when it seems people are already interviewing? It's been nearly 10 weeks so I don't know if I should just wait another 2...

All the talk on SDN makes more anxious than I ever was originally. I used to think I'd be fine submitting my primaries in Sept, but on here it seems July is already late lol.

I didn't know that you were on the admissions committee to determine who is qualified and who is not.

I'm in the same boat here, my primary was received on 7/29 and I'm OOS as well. I would have loved to come visit San Francisco again, but now I can finally say I'm done with secondaries. Good luck to everyone else still playing the waiting game!
 
Rejected just now...not happy, but I understand how competitive it is.

I'm applying MSTP btw... My favorite part of applying to med schools is the waiting. Anyone agree?
 
Interview invite, submitted the secondary Aug 26. Super stoked.
P.S. upon reviewing some of the earlier post about "stats" and not applying because of "crowding the apps" or whatever arrogant comments that were made. I would like to point out that my stats not great by any means, and I am not an URM or anything, so clearly there are other factors involved in the admissions processes. That's probably why there is a space in AMCAS to talk about them.. But of course I don't have an acceptance yet, so take it with a grain of salt, as always.

Complete 9/15.

JUST GOT THE SECONDARY. As an OOS I am so stoked. Just hope I show I am good enough for an interview so I can prove myself.
 
My AMCAS has been verified for a verrrrry long time...but still no secondary...losing hope here 🙁....i was wondering how many % of OOSers actually get a secondary?

How long is "verrrrry long"? I'm OOS and I had to wait 8 weeks for my secondary.
 
Has anyone gone longer than 12 weeks without hearing anything after primary submission? 😕

ooo...maybe you should call in and ask them? or check the status page on the site? hmmm...sorry couldnt be more help though
 
Today is the start of my 12th week after submitting my primary with no word =( Sent them an email asking if there was any update a few days ago but no word.
 
Anyone else interviewing next week?? Excited to see this wonderful school and have some friends and family show me around SF. 🙂
 
Why is UCSF so great (beyond the rankings)?

finally got that long-awaited rejection. ah... completed my secondary at the end of July. Good luck to everyone else still in the pool!
