By my calculations, 43%. But this is just an estimate off different years of data and the USNWR magazine, and my (old) data say 3 in 22 who are interviewed matriculate. Anyone with access to USNWR Compass online would be able to tell you the latest data.

so is this number based on legit sources?
thats pretty good odds i feel

Is anyone having difficulty logging into the secondary application/status page? After I submit my username/pw it just keeps loading and nothing happens.

EDIT: Nvm, working for me now. Guess it was a temporary glitch

On my status page it says an interview invite was sent to my email 3 days ago... but I never saw such an email. anyone else have this happen to them? EDIT: I see others have had this problem. I'll just call them tomorrow. I don't want future emails to get lost through email as well!

But woohoo! Interview invite! Good luck everyone! :luck:

How long did everyone have to wait to hear back about their secondary?

The latest status on My History says: "[Status Update] Applicant moved to MD screen."

*i will now be glued to my computer*

You could be waiting anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks (even longer) to hear back.

Thanks!

I just read some earlier posts and it seems like invites get sent out at earliest 4 days after completion. (which is today for me!)

Hopefully this is true..because this is fairly encouraging!!

Sorry about all the irriatinf problems with the secondary. I promise this wasn't an issue last year and doesn't reflect the school's feelings toward you.

🙁

Not your fault man! So I called them and thought I would share. They were very polite and helpful, and apparently they have been receiving many calls about this problem. Like someone else said earlier, nothing on that email is critical, so you can still go ahead and sign up for your interview time. But... that email does contain a schedule of the interview day, so I would recommend calling them if you have an interview invite but no email. That way they can forward you the email within a few days.

Didn't get any complete email or rejection email, but my history says "Moved to MD screen on 7/26" and on 7/29 my status was changed to "Application Process Complete. Thank you for your interest."

A little miffed by the lack of communication, but not surprised.

GG GL all

Interview invite!!!!

Was under review for almost two weeks so stay positive even if you didn't get a quick turnaround.

Hope to see some of you 9/26!!

On hold for re-review after 12 days. Pretty much feels like a rejection though 🙁

Same. Hopefully it's not a death sentence. I know they've already sent out some rejections, so it could definitely be worse. I really liked this school though. Close to home, great rep, research opportunities, etc.

Oh man, just got the "Application Process Complete. Thank you for your interest." status :uhno: Has anyone received an interview invite after this status or is this a 100% rejection?

Welcome my purgatory brethren. We shall burn together

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to say that the hold status is a great place to be, but I do think something around 15% of interview invites come from the hold list. I'm not entirely sure, though.

Thanks for the info Nick. Definitely reassuring. Obviously, I'd have loved to get an interview the first round, but knowing I'm not pretty much out of it altogether is still good to know.

Quick question: I received the secondary in June and didn't complete it until this past week because I was graduating, in Europe, etc, but I didn't mention any of this in the "want to add anything?" box. Do you think this will this count against me too heavily?

Oh well, it was definitely a reach school for me considering my stats, so I guess I should be glad about the hold.

Also, Nick, do you have any idea how long on hold applicants get an answer? (Either a rejection or an interview invite). I'd rather get rejected soon then having to wait until January or something.

I don't want to say that mine was a typical experience, but I was put on hold sometime in July, and I didn't receive an interview invite until mid-December. I was accepted in May, so this process can take awhile.

dumb q, but how many letters of rec max can we submit?

it seems that they ask for 3, but i like to submit 5 unless otherwise specified.

hmm i just checked and my status says invited for interview too (submitted secondary on friday i think) but no email..

also, anyone know the first date that chicago sends out final decisions?

A few receive decisions as early as the 3rd week of October. Usually it takes between 8-10 weeks from your date of interview to get a decision which will most likely be either "accepted" or "continued." I've never heard of someone interviewing here than getting an outright rejection because they're pretty selective in inviting to interview in the first place.

Thanks! Glad to be in the running- especially when I read over my secondary today and it made no sense.

I am wondering this too. Would appreciate feedback!

Iiiinteresting.... A few days ago, my application status read the same thing. Now, it has been changed to "Application Held for Later Review."

I would suggest checking back after a few days if you haven't gotten a straight rejection letter?

Awesome, thanks for the info Anranius. I suppose we still have a slim chance :luck:

That is good news! Congrats! A hold is better than a flat out rejection. I am confused, though, as to why some people are receiving the rejection letters and status changes together, and why some are just receiving status changes with no email. Weird. :luck:

Rejected. 🙁 Man, first rejection. I've (of course) expected rejections, but still kind of harsh to receive them, haha.

First rejection as well. Definitely hurts considering I have yet to get an interview invite.

35Q 3.79cgpa/3.85sgpa

First rejection for me as well. 39Q/3.63 (cGPA)/3.54 (sGPA)

Submitted 7/31 as well.

What kind of research experience did you have? (If you don't mind me asking.) I submitted around the same time and have similar stats.

I had 4 publications....3 abstracts and 1 full paper.

Good luck everyone! 🙂

Rejection with that? Not even a hold? Wow. Good luck the rest of the cycle. You're bound to get in somewhere.

A few years of research with no publications (but three in the works)

Strong recs and clinical also

Thanks for everything Nick! Good luck on your first day!!

INTERVIEW INVITE!!! 😀

AMCAS Verified: 6/15
Submitted Secondary: 7/28

MCAT: 37S
GPA/sGPA: 3.93

So excited!

Interview invite this morning!
Cannot believe it! 😍
Definitely a Top choice.

Congrats to everyone else who has received an invite.

Congrats to the recent interview invites!

Just so you know, one of the things we did on Thursday was sign up to be student hosts for interviewees. I'm guessing you should be getting information on that relatively soon, though I'm sure there's still more organizing that needs to be done.

I do admire the promptness of rejections though. Rather now, than in dec.

I do too. I admire them about their upfront attitude.

Complete 20Jul2011; Rejection 24Jul2011.

Rejected on a Sunday. No Chicago love. 🙁

Good luck to all!

Mine was screened on Aug 3rd, which means that I will be waiting for my reject status today.

Oh well. I didn't do so hot on the second prompt. It happens.

Good luck to everyone else :luck:

Does anyone know, when/how to ask them for suggestions for reapplying next year? I realize they're super busy, but I think they're pretty much always super busy...

Got my rejection just now...great way to spend a Sunday haha. Good luck to everyone else in the process!

Hello guys,

My AMCAS was verified on 8/4, and I had previously submitted my Chicago secondary in early July. Any ideas how long it should take them to upload my letters of recommendation, which are still indicated as not received?

Thanks!

Do they snail mail rejection/acceptance letters or email?

I think you can check on the "My History" Tab. That is what I am doing.

And no worries Chris. I'll be joining you soon, so you will be in good company.
