I was filling out the secondary and saw the FAQ response saying to report any violations above parking tickets. A couple years ago I was in a car accident (winter weather) and there was basically a speeding ticket associated with it but I got it removed from my record. Would I still have to report it here since it did exist at one point in time?

Kind of sucks. If I do report it.. any thoughts on whether it will affect my application?

Thanks for the thoughts and congrats to all the recent interview invites 👍

I would be safe and just report the ticket. I wrote that I received a speeding ticket and still received an interview offer.

Does anyone know, when/how to ask them for suggestions for reapplying next year? I realize they're super busy, but I think they're pretty much always super busy...

I would call or shoot them an e-mail. To be honest I don't know if they'll provide feedback if you were rejected pre-interview, but you can give it a shot. They may wait until the end of the cycle to provide you with feedback.

Received the complete email 8/2. Gah I keep checking the site like a madwoman since this is the only school I've applied to that replies back so quickly. 16 more secondaries to go.. this is not the business.

I'm gonna blame the fact that I reported a speeding ticket for me getting put on hold

Hey Illinois2012,

Do you mind sharing when you got placed on hold after you got screened? I am almost nearing a week after getting screened and I have no idea what is going on.

I don't remember exactly but I think it was something like 2 weeks after I entered MD screen.

Had a question about Q2 of the secondary. The prompt asks for our response to a difficult/challenging situation. Would it be okay to talk about a chronic challenge rather than a specific challenge? For instance: fear of public speaking and how we address that over a longer period of time.

Hi - I'm new to this thread and have been somewhat-following everything people have been saying, and I finally wanted to ask a question to any of the current students at Pritzker - what do you think makes the curriculum itself unique? I was comparing the curriculum at Pritzker with other schools, and I can see a sort of broad to more specific trend, but I'm not sure if that's what really makes Pritzker's curriculum really stand out? I was hoping to hear first hand experiences, but any other input would be great too 🙂!

Just to calm the general nervousness...

I got an Interview to Pritzker today and I was under review for basically 2 weeks. So to everyone who thinks they can't get one because they didn't get a response in 4 days is wrong.

I know MSAR says...its about 1 in 9 who are interview matriculate...but does anyone know what proportion of interviewees get acceptances??

Thanks, this gives me a bit of hope--I've been on MD screen for 12 days so far
:xf:

put on hold for later review 🙁
it says please keep us updated with your future awesomeness... now i feel like i need to build a pretty art project so i have something to send them an update about....

moved to MDscreen 7/26 so i knew i wasn't in the top batch of 1 or 4 day turnaround folk...

To be entirely honest, for the most part a med school curriculum is a med school curriculum. You're going to learn the same material, and with the exception of PBL vs. didactic lecture, schools are only going to differ with respect to the minor details in their curriculi. I would look for the following things when looking at a curriculum:

  • Is it pass/fail or traditional grading? (GO WITH PASS/FAIL)
  • Is there a research requirement? (If you're interested in research, you might want to go to a school where it's a formal requirement and built into the curriculum)
  • Is it PBL or lecture-based? (Totally personal preference)
All that said, there are a couple of things that stand out in my mind as somewhat unique to Pritzker. The first is the Scholarship and Discovery "course," which is the formal research requirement. The course spans all four years (we're having our first class in it today) and helps you choose an area of study and find a mentor for your work. While I wouldn't say this is particularly unique since many schools have research requirements, I don't remember seeing a curriculum where the course was required throughout all of the years.

Another aspect of the curriculum that I found particularly cool was that research is extremely easy to do. You aren't charged for more than 16 quarters (a.k.a. four years) of tuition, so if you want to to take a year to do research, you only have to pay for living expenses (the school actually has fellowships that you apply for that can cover these as well). This also applies if for whatever reason you have to redo a year or any other unusual circumstance.

The final thing that I've found unique/cool is a tool the school uses called TIMESpace. It's essentially a searchable database of all of the lectures (recorded and synced to the PowerPoints the professors used) in your classes and in the years prior. If you interview here and are told that lectures are placed "online," this is the tool that does that. You get access to this tool for all four years, the idea being that if you see something in the hospital during the third/fourth year and need a basic science refresher, you can login to TIMESpace and search for your topic and check out some of the lectures come up. The system will also allow you to do a "cloud search," which basically gives you a list of topics related to what you searched for that might give you the information you want. If you search for heart failure, for example, you might be given links to the anatomy of the heart, cardiac physiology, and pathology of the heart (the topics you would actually see would all be more specific than that, of course). With something as relatively simple as this I would expect every school to have a similar system, but alas I haven't heard about a similar system at any other school. I don't have any real use for it now (other than rewatching the recorded lectures), but I can see how it would be incredibly useful for board studying and as a reference in the later years.

Keep in mind that I'm only going into day 2 of classes so my perspective is pretty limited, but I hope that helps. Good luck!

No big deal, but I JUST GOT THE INVITE!!!!! Definitely one of my top choices. Was on review for more than two weeks.

As a side note, I may have been on review for a little longer because I failed or withdrew from all of my courses when I attended this school a few years ago. I imagine they were very skeptical of my commitment to education.

Ahh. I received the secondary July 4th (first one I received, in fact) and I FINALLY managed to submit it today. The essays took me forever (in the meantime, I chugged through 10 other secondaries)! I hope the month's worth of effort is worthy of an interview!!

I submitted the primary July 28 and still have not received an email with the secondary. Does anyone else have this problem still? Should I call tomorrow?

best wishes everyone, this is one of the best schools in Chicago, and I would love to be a part of this class!🙂

Did anyone else experiences a delay between making the payment and getting acknowledged for it on the website? I submitted and paid the application fee (by credit card, and got a confirmation email), but it's still marked as not received on the website and I still see the button to make the payment... I know I'm being impatient but given how quick the turnaround was for most people here, this was just a bit anticlimactic to wait all day and not even have the payment acknowledged online! 🙂

(and my SEC icon isn't lit up either, although right above it it says "Secondary application complete". I'm guessing people in the office have to actually confirm it manually or something...?)

+1. I'm seven weeks into third year and I have used it countless times. Unbelievable resource.

Is it pass/fail or traditional grading? (GO WITH PASS/FAIL)

+4 million. Required. In retrospect, the only thing I would have done differently about my application back when I was applying was to have not applied to schools with grades. You can't imagine how awesome pass/fail makes your life until you've been in it, so get in it.

Payments are entered manually so there will likely be a delay.

I've been on md screen for 8 days now. I think they are a little slow now probably from having to review so many applications.

Ooh I am "moved to MD screen" as of 2 hours ago. Now I am nervous... If Pritzker is as quick as it has been for some people, this will be the first school I'll be hearing from this cycle!

Submitted my secondary and primary today. I wrote some really good essays so hopefully that helps!

Well... at least you haven't been hit by the 24-hour-later rejection. 😛

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It really means a lot especially in such a stressful time.

I assure you, my application is all sorts of krazy, so I am sure they have no idea what to do with me, which would make sense why I am on day 10 of the md screen. Glad I can give adcom a huge headache. it's payback! 👍 lol.

I've been on MD screen for about a week now too. It's nervewracking given all the quick invites earlier in the cycle, but I think they may just be inundated with apps at this point and taking longer to get to them.

I'm on day 10 of the MD screen too. After hearing from all you guys, they're probably just behind or something.

Hello guys,

My AMCAS was verified on 8/4, and I had previously submitted my Chicago secondary in early July. Any ideas how long it should take them to upload my letters of recommendation, which are still indicated as not received?

Thanks!

I'm still waiting for them to mark my letters received too. My letters were received by AMCAS on 8/3 and my secondary was already turned in.. Anyone else have any idea how long this usually takes?

Has anyone gotten an interview here with less than stellar stats (GPA < 3.7, MCAT < 35) but good extracurriculars? Seems like this school is hot on rejecting people based on numbers alone. We can be awesome, even without 4.0s!

It took one day for them to enter all my information into their system. How many days has it been?

Maybe they are using their resources for interviews and training instead of working on us. But someone here who got screened the same time I did got rejected within 4 days, so I suspect something else is going on...

I don't know....I should have been automatically rejected within 24 hours if it were based solely on numbers. To be honest, I am surprised they just didn't flat out reject me.

Oh, and I just checked, I am actually on day 9, not 10. Whoops. This whole waiting for them to decide feels like rush week. Anyone agree?

Oh yea, rejected! Too bad, I thought that I put a pretty good secondary together too...

Applying with a 33, what was I thinking? :meanie:

G'luck to all.

Sorry about that. 🙁 Do you mind telling me how long it took for you to hear back after being put on screen?

I'm sorry Frazier... but looking at your avatar (which I love a lot a lot) I couldn't help but play some ominous music in my head... yes, yes... a few enemies inDEEEEDD. Seriously, good luck with your other apps, though!

5 days after being on the screen they "decided not to pursue my application any further".

Thanks for sharing Frazier.

I am really sorry it didn't work out for Pritzker but good luck with your apps. :luck: I am sure you have nothing to worry as you have a strong mcat score.

Yeah I don't like this whole waiting game. I haven't been checking any of my other schools, just this one because it has such a reputation for fast responses. Maybe something else is going on, I took a few risks on my application and wrote about some unconventional things, so that might be delaying my app.

So just to be sure... we can submit secondaries before verification, right? I think Einstein disregards your application if you submit secondaries before verification...

P.S. There's a place called Chicago Gyros near my internship...I feel like it's calling my name...

32 is my magic number.

Oh, and I just got rejected on day 9. Glad they finally got done with my application.

rejected last night after being in "md screen" for 15 days.
32R/ 3.5 good luck to the rest of you!

Hate to ask this but i tried going through this topic and couldn't find the answers

close friend got the axe today about 1.5 wks after submitting his secondary

3.9/32 with great EC's (D1 athlete, international research,etc.)

making me nervous to submit now :scared:

I think it took me about two days. In my app history, it says "Secondary app completed," meaning that I had submitted it, and then 2 days later there was an update that said, "[APP COMPLETE] Secondary app complete," which I take to mean they got the LORS. I had assigned them way earlier, maybe a month before I submitted.

Still haven't heard back yet.

No worries. You are in good company. 👍 At least they got back to you within a week. They took their sweet time to string me along. What a tease 😛

just rejected this morning... 3.8/35. been on the MD screen since Friday or so 🙁

Anyone else interviewing October 10th? For those still waiting, I waited two weeks until I received a response.
