Maybe this has already been discussed, but did you guys put anything in the "additional information" section? Could this be the place to update them on what I'll be doing next year? (not on my amcas b/c i had no idea at the time). or is this more for explaining hard life situations? ya know what i mean?
thanks!

No, I wouldn't talk about what you're doing next year. You should be planning on matriculating to medical school...

Not 100% sure, but I think they meant what they're doing this upcoming year.

Yeah, that makes more sense. My bad. In that case I would definitely mention that sort of stuff, especially if you're out of school and working or doing something more interesting.

complete today. just wondering, do they send out a complete email

I did not receive a complete email. My email sequence went like this:
June 28 - Payment successful
July 8 - interview invite

Not sure but perhaps they're talking about the status on the "My History" tab? Mine just says: [Status Update] Applicant moved to MD screen.

Submitted $$ yesterday, moved to MD screen today. Hoping for only good news. This school is amazing. Would love to have the chance to visit and interview.

Man. This secondary is killing me. It's so unique and different from most of the other ones (this isn't really a bad thing...it's just a thing). It's taking me much longer to finish the secondary for Pritzker. Still, the more I find out about Uchicago, the higher it climbs on my list.

I'm sure you're not alone. I remember that the secondary took me a while as well. Have no fear!

Huge fan of Pritzker! Unfortunately, "held for later review" for me. Hopefully will be able to visit later in the cycle.

36/3.93/Canadian (also realized Pritzker doesn't offer financial aid to international students and tuition is absolutely ridiculous)

They have equally ridiculous merit scholarships, so I wouldn't worry too much about the tuition.

There was some mention above of the idea that you would most likely only get good news on the 4th day, and if it went longer than that...it was less likely. Was this just speculation? I was final last friday or so and am just curious because I hope to hear something soon.

i heard back in less than 24 hours, but it does look like many people got invites on the 4th day

Ya, i'm not feeling to good about hearing good news anymore. My understanding is that generally no news is in fact bad news, because they are very quick to let people know if they like them (want to interview them). Hopefully I'm wrong!

I got an interview invite 9 days after I was complete. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sure was spooky though.

Same with me.. I was complete around the 4th of July weekend and just got an interview invitation yesterday so I really wouldn't worry if it is taking awhile for now

hey nick, thanks for your wishes. what are you up to this summer?

JUST SUBMITTED. Now I just have to wait for my AMCAS to be verified so the people at Pritzker can start looking at my secondary. This secondary definitely took me the most time but I also think it's probably my best. GAHHHHH GIVE ME AN INTERVIEW PRITZKER.

Hey guys.

I was rejected awhile ago, but I thought I'd chime in here with some comments on the admissions office and offer some advice.

1. The admissions office here are some of the friendliest and most helpful people I've encountered during the process so far. Darrell Nabers, the director, in particular is very generous with his time and advice. They really do read your entire profile before making a decision.

2. Listen to the Pritzker Podcast (http://pritzkerpodcast.com/). There's an episode about the "pritzker fit" which, I think, is pretty helpful for writing your essay. The financial episodes are also extremely useful.

Boy, I wish I hadn't used so much descriptive imagery in my PS. I really like this school.

Good look mates!

que? they told you part of your problem was using too much descriptive imagery in your PS?

Yes.
One thing that's important to Prtizker is that your concern for others be genuine. I think I sensationalized my experience in the PS with too much descriptive imagery and came off sounding non-genuine.
This is something very difficult to judge on paper, but I'm kicking myself now.

I'm doing absolutely nothing. My days have for the most part consisted of working out and playing games. Now that the time to head up to Chitown is approaching I'm much busier, but it's still pretty chill.

Look forward to this time! It'll be here before you know it!

yikes! i am going to actively not go over my PS in my head. it's submitted now regardless. i totally understand their stance but i sympathize a lot with your position too - it's really hard to figure out how to write these essays so they're not dry and boring (adcom passes out and falls on floor) but not too cheesy or sensationalist (adcom rolls eyes and gets annoyed).

anyway, i hope the rest of your apps turn out great! the year's just gearin up :luck:

the student hosting link not working for people who got interviews? it still links to revisit weekend

Considering the coordinator last year was a first-year student, they're probably going to wait until our class starts school (in two weeks!) to assign a new student hosting coordinator. I would wait until it gets closer to your interview date to try to find a host. You can always make reservations at the i-house and then cancel it later if you manage to get a host.

how many ppl interview and how many are accepted from that?

Damn, I was complete this week and just got the dreaded "will not pursue your application further" e-mail. I really liked this school, been listening to the podcast, love Chicago, thought it was a really great fit, but I guess they thought otherwise.

I was on a high for the day after receiving my first interview invite from another school in the morning and this just deflated it, lol. Good luck to everyone else applying here!

I just submitted today! I've lived in Chicago my whole life and this is definitely one of my top schools. I paid my application fee about two hours ago and received a confirmatory email but it still is not updated on my status page. I'm guessing it may take a few days to become processed?

daemon14, sorry to hear that, but congrats on getting an interview elsewhere. If you don't mind me asking, on which day were you complete? Thanks for your info.

rejected 7/21

Oh well, dream school. It's always good to try 🙂

Good luck everyone!

Moved to MD screen on 7-22, so I should hear by 7-26 is its good news huh? Heres to hoping for an interview at my top choice!

Ya, I would assume that you should not count the weekends as days on the MD screen...I've been under review for 5 business days, but i'm feeling iffy about it now.

Au contraire, bonjour! I just got the "application complete" letter today-- at 7pm on a Saturday. So, Pritzker can bring the hammer down on any day of the week. Be afraid.

Are you sure 7pm your time wasn't sometime earlier in Chicago time? I can see them working on weekends but not after hours... Unless they really are that hardcore:eyebrow:

i cant even access this p.o.s. secondary, do they do maintenance at night or something?

Seeing as I live in Chicago, I'm pretty sure 😉

It's possible they queue the emails up during the work week and tell them to fire off later.

Complete 20Jul2011; Rejection 24Jul2011.

Rejected on a Sunday. No Chicago love. 🙁

Good luck to all!

For your secondary, should you specify how your LORs are coming in (i.e. "Multiple Letters" or "Premedical Advisor or Letter Packet")? I'm just wondering because I don't know if doing so on secondary would make it look like you are waiting for additional letters... in my case, all of my letters are mailing in via AMCAS, so I don't even know if I need to do this part.😕

Do you think you were rejected based on stats?

A moderate reach if considering stats alone (ugrad GPA + MCAT) but I'm also non-trad with work experience and a Masters degree.
