It took quite a while but they marked my letters as received and app complete 11/9. I was moved to application in status, but today I just noticed I was changed to applicant in status.

For most of the people saying they have been waiting an excruciatingly long time to hear back, have your statuses been application or applicant in process? The whole status mumbo jumbo is a little confusing.

Mine was applicant in process the whole time.

I don't understand this...I was marked complete on 8/22 and still am application in progress

Mine's the same way. Application in progress for like 2-3 months now. 😡

I was waitlisted here last years so I was hoping for some IL love. Hurry up!

Got my assignment through snail mail. Not sure when they received my deposit, I sent everything back last Saturday. I'm from a Chicago suburb.

Snail mail or status page update? When'd they receive your deposit?

Where do see this message "applicant in process"? is a different screen that shows this status. When i signed in, it just states that your application is completed. Thanks for sharing.

There's "Next" tab on the bottom that leads you to the next page

PM me for numbers since I don't place too much emphasis on those.

I'm IS, current UIUC student in engineering, plenty of research pubs and ECs, and my mom did her residency at UIC. Not really sure how much emphasis they place on alum status, but I can only hope 😛

I think what also helped was that I've been really sick the past three months and just had surgery yesterday, I mentioned that in my application as justification for me being late in the process. But it's all really just a guessing game at this point anyway haha.

"A final decision was made on your application on ****. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail."

I'm assuming good new! 😱😀🙂:xf:

I was applicant in process for months. Just got an interview invite a few days ago.

Additional Correspondence!

Very excited, assuming this actually means I am accepted.

Does anyone know if Admissions is flexible in switching interview dates. I was supposed to interview in December but plane tickets are super expensive and if I chose a later date tickets are significantly reduced. If I can't switch dates then I'm going to cancel this interview b/c I'm broke 🙁

Anyone interviewed in Peoria yet? I scheduled there for 12/8, didn't want to wait the extra month to interview in Chicago. I was just wondering how the facilities/interview is at Peoria.

I haven't heard a word from them.

Major cause for concern?

I'm a UIUC student, IL resident, and I'm a university employee (chemistry TA)...

My GPA and MCAT should be good for here as well...

Mine doesn't even say applicant in progress.

It says "Your Application has been successfully submitted. Your IPAY Transaction ID is: -------. Although you may still view your application, no further changes will be allowed."

Does this mean I need to pay still? I legit thought I did it right away, but now I'm being neurotic....

I'd call the office.

surprise, surprise, my ****ty state school admitted me. the only way i'll set one toe in this place is if i get in noplace else. #52 research and #92 primary care, and higher instate tuition than some schools have out of state tuition.

Judging from your humble attitude and empathetic nature, I am sure you are going to make a great doctor one day.

Just playing...but seriously....read like 5 posts back and you will see people that really want to go to UIC; make those jokes with your friends, not with people trying to get into the school that you are disrespecting.

It would be a little awkward if you "get in noplace else", seeing as how you're alienating an entire group of potential future classmates. Harvard pedigree or not, your attitude leaves something to be desired in other SSD threads as well.

I hope he has to endure four years of quality education at the school he so despises. As a current student, I take offense to his brusqueness.

Good luck to all those in the process who are genuinely interested in the University of Illinois!

FTFY 👍 😎

Thanks for the well-wishing!

I'm probably reading too much into this, but is there a difference between "Application in Process" vs. "Application IS in process"?

I'm curious about this as well. I'll be there with you.

Sounds like a computer glitch to me, but there is no telling. I thought that the Application vs. Applicant status was a computer glitch as well, but I got an interview a week after switching to applicant in process. The whole status check process is slightly bewildering. It seems that calling the admissions office can speed the process (if you have been sitting for several months). Very odd....I empathize heavily with those who have been "applicant in process" since July.

You're at the wrong website. Make sure you're going to the website to "Check the status of your application" (I think it was the 3rd email they sent..?), don't go to the website for your supplemental application.

Oh, wow. I'm tech savvy.... not.

Thanks!

I'm in progress... Whatever that means haha

Applicant in process as well.

I posted this in a seperate thread as well, but I thought I might get more recognition in this thread.

I was assigned to Urbana for all four years (by my choice), but I am wondering if this has dire consequences for later down the road? After spending 2+years living in Chicago in the past, I just do not want to be there. To me the city is nice, but not worth the hassle and extra cost.

I am just wondering if I am shooting myself in the foot for going the 4 years in Urbana route. Feel free to post in the other thread if you would like.

Check their match list. They seem to have a pretty good representation in various specialties, although most of the people from Urbana campus are in the MSP program and that may have an effect. I would try asking the associate dean Jim Hall about the match history for non-MSP urbana campus graduates.

got a big envelope sometime over thanksgiving break - so excited!!! I'm def. putting Rockford as my #1

to the people who have interviewed already -- has anyone gotten rejected or waitlisted post interview (or have you heard of this happening so far)? i know it's probably pretty unrealistic to think that everyone who interviewed so far got in, but reading this thread, it seems that way.

waitlists and rejections are rare mid-interview season. if you've interviewed with uic, your application is going to be reviewed at the end of each month until you a) get accepted or b) waitlisted/rejected around March/April.

i guess there's always the chance someone will be rejected after interviewing (before march). but looking at past years' threads, that's pretty rare

the people who have turned "applicant in process" from "application in process".
how long did it take from that point to receive an interview??

yeah, it just seems like everyone who's posted on here that they had their interview already also seemed to get a response (acceptance)/didn't have to wait. so i revise my questions: has anyone who has already interviewed so far this cycle NOT gotten accepted right off the bat?

In the 2009-2010 cycle, I interviewed in September and was accepted late April.

So I have been applicant in process since the day of my completion of the secondary and they received my new MCAT on 8/31. Called them today and they said that it takes about 6-8 weeks for them to review..but it has already been more than 10 weeks for my completion..should I send an update letter?

I think that was because you didn't have much healthcare experience? I remember seeing this and thinking: "With his stats, how has he not been accepted?" You then obtained more healthcare experience and sent them an update. Feel free to expand or correct this.

Same thing going on with me and Loyola 🙄 I didn't call or send an update though, does that really help? You can't force them to bypass other applicants just to review yours can you?

I just wanted to know if they were missing a part of my application or not when I called. I heard that IIs fall around the time you call them, so I dont know. As far as bypassing others goes, we have already been looked at (come on, who doesnt see files in 10 weeks?!?!) An update letter/interest letter might just prove to be crucial and provide the nudge we need to get an II. I might send them one soon!!
