I was complete since early July, IS, average-ish stats. I had been 'Application is in Process' the entire time. I called a couple weeks ago and made an appointment (via phone) with an admissions counselor, who said she would have my application shown to her supervisor. Today my status got changed to 'Applicant in Process' - so it definitely worked for me. I'm not sure if our applicants get 'lost' or what happens, but it doesn't hurt to call!

Congrats! I'm glad they finally started reviewing you! Best of luck; I hope you get an interview in the next few days!

I've been "applicant in process" for weeks and weeks and weeks now. I was complete late July/early August. I've called to no avail. All they say is that I have yet to be reviewed.

went from applicant in process to application in process

the hell does that mean

🙁

Someone suggested that this means you have been reviewed, and it is a kind of hold, but if you started out as applicant in process, there is the possibility that it means absolutely nothing, and you still have not been reviewed.

For everyone that is waiting for the additional correspondence tab today. I read through the early part of the thread, and the first batch of acceptances came out the Friday after the meeting, while the second batch came out on the Thursday of the meeting. Guess it might be today or tomorrow...

I emailed the school to ask the same question and their response was "Applicant/Application simply means the same."

She also said, "Application process typically takes 6-8 weeks or longer. Obviously it has been longer for you but it’s not unusual. Keep in mind last year alone we received well over 8,000 applications."

Hope this helps.

Thanks guys! Keep the faith I guess...

So has anyone had their status changed from Decision Pending to the additional correspondences status yet?

Not yet, still compulsively checking every minute or so

Same here. I hope they release it today, and do not make us wait until tomorrow. I have a biochemistry exam that I cannot study for at all because my mind is on this committee meeting. I swear it would be the best Christmas present ever! lol

Biochem exam in t-minus 14 hours :scared:

my status changed!

"A final decision was made on your application on 12-15-11. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone." AND additional correspondence tab! I interviewed at the end of Nov. I'm so excited and going to call my mom now! I mean...this means I'm accepted right?

Yeah that almost always indicates acceptance congrats! Mine has not changed yet, but I am not sure if they do it one at a time or all at once. Anyway, congrats again!

Edit: NVM it just changed, and i have the additional correspondence tab!!!!!!!! I'm going to go do a heel kick in the middle of our quad!

Congrats!!! Hopefully they got around to the dec 8th interviews this time around or else it's another month of waiting, hahah.

Status change too 🙂 interviewed 11/16 congrats everyone and good luck to those still waiting!

Hey krpa62, do you know about what time your status changed. Just trying to gauge if they're updating statuses one by one and see if I still have a chance.

congrats all my future classmates (and for those waiting, your time will come too 🙂 )

thanks to idf/AnnPerkins, cknu, and Visionary Tics for their help!

Scrolling through the earlier posts, I guess no one should expect the CBC email then? And also, do they send the mail to your Permanent or Preferred address on AMCAS?

I'm not sure the exact time but when I checked around 4:30 it was there

When did you interview digital?

Hey I interviewed mid-November. Don't get too down if you don't hear anything today. From your user-id I can see that you went to U of I. This most likely means you are instate. If you are an instate applicant that has interviewed you literally have a 85% chance of acceptance (I calculated from the U.S. news). Even if you are out of state you still have a 73% chance. I know it is easier said than done( I was terrified a second ago). They are doing this one at a time. The edge of desire definitely found out five minutes before I did, so they may not be done updating for a while; I honestly couldn't tell you. If you have been reviewed and passed over this time, I believe you get an email saying that you have been reviewed once and will be reviewed again at the next meeting.

Krpa62, you must have been with my interview group in Rockford 🙂 Congrats!

So the additional correspondence tab is just an unclickable thing in the top right of the page right? And that definitely means we got in? I almost don't want to get my hopes up.

Does the status stay decision pending until the adcomm meets post interview??

So I got the whole paragraph about
"Current Status
A final decision was made on your application on 12-15-11. Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

Does this mean acceptance? I have the additional correspondence tab but there's no date in it yet.

Looking though last year's thread, it is almost always the case that if you have been given a final decision at this time in the season, it is because you have been accepted. They have said that rejections are a very drastic decision before the end of the season. Unless you really did something to anger your interviewers, I would be supremely surprised if you ended up getting a rejection.

Anyway, I think we can safely say that 99% of the time this status is an acceptance. I am going to celebrate, and when I get the letter I will relax. Congratulations and maybe I will see you at a second look or next fall!

Wondering the same thing...

Yes! I'm pretty sure I remember who you are 🙂 congrats!!!

By the way congrats on the SLU acceptance as well! If you choose SLU, PM me if you want recommendations for housing or fun things to do. I love St. Louis, so it sounds like you are in a position to choose between two awesome cities!

Also, I did not get an opportunity to see the Chicago campus. If anyone interviewed in Chicago, would you be willing to send me some feedback on what you thought of it? I am leaning towards Chicago at the moment, but I did think Rockford was nice, so it would be helpful to hear a variety of opinions.

Congrats to everyone with" additional correspondence tab"..I received my big acceptance packet a week after my status changed to " final decision made"..I am sure you all will receive your FAT packets in the mail too:clap::clap::clap:

Congrats on your acceptances everyone!

Still application in process for me....call and talked to an admissions counselor today and all she could tell me is to just wait, due to the large number of applicants they have. C'est la vie.

do they send the mail to your Permanent or Preferred address on AMCAS? sorry just need to know what to tell parentals 🙂

Congratulations to all those pretty much accepted! Just checked now and I too have the additional correspondence on the upper right corner of the status page 🙂

Hope you guys have an awesome winter break! Best wishes to those still waiting :luck:

Status I received today:

A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone.

There was no date inserted. I haven't interviewed, but I didn't think they rejected until the end of the season? I had a short explanation why I couldn't finish my application until mid-October (it's about as legit as you can get), and I literally have every component they are looking for in my application, especially 4 years working as a nurse assistant. I know being IS current UIUC student doesn't guarantee an acceptance, but seriously??? Reject me this early?! This cycle is just awful for me.

I also got that status today too. It's a rejection 🙁 I'm sorry. I hope we get in somewhere. Best of luck

To those who (unfortunately) just got rejected pre-interview -- what are your stats?

Has anyone who interviewed on 12/12 been accepted, or have a status change?

Congrats!!! Hopefully they got around to the dec 8th interviews this time around or else it's another month of waiting, hahah.

Did your status change? I interviewed dec 6th and no change...
Congrats to everyone with acceptances! And best of luck to those still waiting 🙂

Hey TwoBits! I interviewed on 12/12 and I'm still decision pending. It seems like they're still going over applicants who interviewed towards the end of November or mid-november.

I can't access the supplementary anymore. Where are you guys checking your post-interview statuses?

Congrats to all those with recent acceptances. Just checking in again to offer honest info and advice to those considering UIC. I'm an M2 at the Chicago campus.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that those who moved from applicant in process to application is in process earlier in the thread are those who received pre-interview rejections? All in all, I'm sorry to hear that. I hope we all get in somewhere.

Thank you! What do you think of the Chicago campus? I am currently leaning Chicago or Rockford, and I would love to hear some information regarding each. 😀

I interviewed the 8th of December and Thursday got the "additional correspondence", so it looks like they're definitely going over December applicants.
The December review meeting was Thursday the 15th, so it looks like you guys won't get reviewed until the last Thursday in January.

Can't really comment on Rockford specifically, but the Chicago campus is defined by what the city has to offer. Twenty hospitals to rotate through, including some of the most high-volume, high-acuity in the country.

In terms of the curriculum, the campuses are homogenizing so the pre-clinical curricula will be pretty much identical.

M3/M4 years will be profoundly different. The Chicago campus offers pretty much whatever you could imagine (Electives), with the core clerkships having a strong subspecialty component. The number of different options and opportunities in the Chicago system is staggering.

Rockford is built around family medicine and rural medicine, but I don't know a lot of the specifics of the program.

I think the strength of UIC is the vast number of different opportunities (extracurriculars, different clinical settings, diverse patient population) at your fingertips, and the Chicago campus gives you the most access to those opportunities.

Any tips for interviewing at the Chicago campus? What was it like?

Also, what are my chances of actually getting the Chicago campus if my interview is 1/24?

It's a diverse class. Emphasize the unique perspective/experience that you would bring.

My interview day was three sessions (MD, PhD, med student). All straightforward. Nothing tricky.

I can't give you a percentage on your chances, but UIC will continue to give out acceptances until very late in the season.

In fact, one of my classmates was admitted a week before classes started 😀.

I would say your chances of getting the Chicago campus if you interview January 24 are very small. My student I interviewed with said that he was accepted in December last year, and Chicago was already full. Not impossible, but if you're accepted it most likely wont be until February before you get your card turned back in.
