Does anyone know if Einstein sends out rolling rejection letters or does silent rejections/ waits till the end of the cycle to send rejections?

Don't quote me on this, but I believe that they do not send out rejections until the end of cycle. When you are waiting for a Interview, they interview until April, so even if you submit in like August, you might still get an interview in April.

After interviews, I believe you get accepted, High-Priority Waitlist, and Regular Waitlist.

I can second that assessment. Last year I was complete in August and they didn't reject me until end of March. 🙂

I interviewed here last October and was rejected in January. I believe January is when they announce their first round of acceptances/rejections, but perhaps this is only for people who have already interviewed.

Can any current AECOM students comment on living in the Bronx? How do you like it? Affordable? Thanks!

Actually, thanks, that reminds me; I meant apartments (non-student housing).

Not sure if you know this, but the student housing is pretty much an apartment. It is not the student housing you get in college with a common bathroom shared by the hall. Each apartment is by itself. You have a living room and a full size kitchen with fridge. You pay monthly rent and sign a lease. It's call student housing because your roommates and neighbors are all students at Einstein!

Out of all the schools that I interviewed, Einstein was the only one that had student housing. I personally like this a lot since it makes it easier to make friends and go over to someone's place. Also, it made the process of looking for housing a lot easier (you will appreciate that after you get bombarded with tons of paperwork from every school you get accepted to!)

The Bronx doesn't really have that much stuff going on, though the area just around Einstein has pretty much everything you need: bars, restaurants, grocery stores, banks, department stores (a little further out). From what I heard from upperclassmen is that after exams, students usually take a trip to upper Manhattan for fun. The travel cost and time might be annoying, but who cares! You'll be studying for the majority of med school anyways!

P.S. for Affordability: Coming from outside of New York, I think everything in NY is expensive 😀. I went grocery shopping at Pathmark the other day and most stuff was 50cents to a dollar more expensive than what I am use to. So, it is more expensive, but not too bad.

I did, yes. I'm a nontrad, married, and we have a dog. Still thought I needed non-student housing. The neighborhood does look like it's very livable; better than I had first imagined.

Does anyone know about which days of the week AECOM holds interviews?

Interview Invite this morning!! Complete e-mail on 7/19. 32, 3.85. Very excited!

Is anybody interviewing on September 19th? Wanna split a hotel/shuttle? 😀

I chose a morning session so looks like I will be seeing you on campus Zach90!

Mstp interview anyone??!! I wanna go to Einstein again... But for an official interview please

Mine is Oct 19 in the morning! Anyone know how we schedule a overnight stay with a student? It wasn't clear in the instructions...

Anyone know if Einstein does NOT accept in-the-area e-mails?

Here guys, I am in my second day of orientation right now, and I just want to share how amazing Einstein is! I love it so far! The faculty is amazing! They really really (and I mean...really) seem like they want you to succeed and are very approachable! Also, they mentioned a lot of awesome programs at Einstein that I have never heard of during interviewing that just makes Einstein even more awesome!! I am not sure about other schools, but Dr. Katz and Baum are very open with us. Dr. Baum (an old man with a white beard) actually dressed up as Pluto in mickey mouse just to make a point! The environment is very very relax! At other schools, students seem so stres with med school. At Einstein, students seem to work hard and dedicate themselves, but they are not as stress!

Last night, the school even funded a boat cruise for students to enjoy and have fun! 😀

Here are some stats for those that are interested: (This is for the 2011-2012 cycle!)
MCAT: 33
GPA: 3.75

Applications: ~8000 apps
Interviews: ~1100
Accepted: ~400 (this might be wrong, since I was told a few days ago and just don't quite remember!)
Attend: 183

We have more than 3 students from the UC system, the CUNY/SUNY system, Yeshiva University, BC/BU?, John Hopkins, University of Michigan, Emory, Columbia/Barnard, Harvard, Cornell, University of Penn, Duke, Georgetown/ George Washington,

Haha it looks like I'm right on the stats 🙂 Hopefully they'll like me! PS how do you get to Einstein from manhattan? I was hoping to take the subway, but I don't see any stops near the school 🙁 Am I going to have to bus/taxi it?

Take the uptown 5 express train and exit at E180th street. From there, there is the Bx21 bus that takes your straight to Einstein's front door at Morris Park and Eastchester.

Or, you can take the 5 express train and exit at E180th street. Outside of the train station, there are taxi drivers (in black limo cars) that can take you to Einstein for like 7-8 bucks.

There are several other ways, but I think this is the easiest way.

If you feel like being extra lazy (don't want to take the subway to the bus), you can take this express bus that drops you off right at Einstein.

It's the BxM10 bus and it has various pickups all along Madison Ave in manhattan. Here's the schedule:

http://www.mta.info/busco/schedules/bxm10cur.pdf

It's a couple of dollars more than the subway ($5.25 or $5.50 I think), but it's a really nice charter bus, very relaxing, air-conditioned, and you have wifi the whole time because you're above ground.

I'd recommend the express bus. Carrying your stuff on the 5 train and on a bus in the bronx kind of sucks. Keep in mind that while Einstein's immediate area is nice, much of the Bronx is what many people refer to as a "****hole." Sorry for being politically incorrect, but I live right by the Whitestone Bridge. 'Tis truth.

Complete 7/19 and got invited for an interview today!

Complete 8/1. Any idea when IIs? Thanks

Is anybody planning on using the Allways shuttle they provide? I wanted to take it from the airport to the school and then back to the airport after, but I emailed Emilia and she said they do not go back to the airport from the school??

I tried calling/emailing them directly to confirm this but they don't reply to my emails and I always get put on hold and get impatient 🙁

I'm set for October 3rd!!! Who else will be there that day?

nice! when did you receive your complete email??

Interview invite this morning!! Was complete 7/20!

does anyone know if einstein is receptive to letters of interest this early in the game?

Hi guys,

So I'm flying in on 10-22 for the interview, and I am absolutely clueless about the NY area.

Any advice as to which airport I should fly into and transportation options to AECOM from there?

thanks much!

I'm flying into La Guardia, staying in a hotel airport, and using a super shuttle to get around.

Has anyone gotten a student host yet? I'm interviewing 10/19 and e-mailed them about it last week but haven't gotten a response.

Looks like only one person here has gotten an II in the last week. C'mon Einstein, please send out some II's soon!

Hey Guys! A second year here trying to procrastinate from studying Neuro and thought I'd welcome you all to the roller coaster of the Med School Admissions Cycle (unenthusiastic woohoo's). Looks like Doc Einstein's already been giving you guys some good info on life here and what to expect from Camp Einstein. I'm sure he can also tell you about all the great stuff we had during orientation and he better be here for the Around the World Party we host for the first years tomorrow night. If you guys have any questions feel free to post or shoot me a PM. I'm really good at procrastinating so I'll be around to reply every now and then. Just want to say good luck everyone. It's early in the game (and yes it's a game of strategy, and patience, and aggravation, and excitement), but my advice to all of you is try to keep your head through all of this. Some of it will make sense, and some of it will make you question how people can function with the brains they have (I'm studying that right now). Take everything you hear with a grain of salt and realize that EVERYONE in med school can't be a 3.99 38R (although it seems like all of SDN is), and no body should make you feel insufficient. As for Einstein, it's a really laid back place with it's own problems like anywhere else, but the people here make it extra special which also means that for whatever it's worth, Einstein values who you are as a person much more than other places. Einstein was the only school where all the students said "find out where you'll be happiest and go there" rather than "come here and you'll be happy" (obviously not the whole reason I came but you get the idea). Anyway, there's a lot more to hear about Einstein but there's also a lot more time so good luck everyone, and remember to keep your head up through this all.
