Hey Guys! A second year here trying to procrastinate from studying Neuro and thought I'd welcome you all to the roller coaster of the Med School Admissions Cycle (unenthusiastic woohoo's). Looks like Doc Einstein's already been giving you guys some good info on life here and what to expect from Camp Einstein. I'm sure he can also tell you about all the great stuff we had during orientation and he better be here for the Around the World Party we host for the first years tomorrow night. If you guys have any questions feel free to post or shoot me a PM. I'm really good at procrastinating so I'll be around to reply every now and then. Just want to say good luck everyone. It's early in the game (and yes it's a game of strategy, and patience, and aggravation, and excitement), but my advice to all of you is try to keep your head through all of this. Some of it will make sense, and some of it will make you question how people can function with the brains they have (I'm studying that right now). Take everything you hear with a grain of salt and realize that EVERYONE in med school can't be a 3.99 38R (although it seems like all of SDN is), and no body should make you feel insufficient. As for Einstein, it's a really laid back place with it's own problems like anywhere else, but the people here make it extra special which also means that for whatever it's worth, Einstein values who you are as a person much more than other places. Einstein was the only school where all the students said "find out where you'll be happiest and go there" rather than "come here and you'll be happy" (obviously not the whole reason I came but you get the idea). Anyway, there's a lot more to hear about Einstein but there's also a lot more time so good luck everyone, and remember to keep your head up through this all.
II today! Never got a complete email (to the best of my knowledge) but I submitted the secondary 7/1. For everyone who is still patiently waiting I hope this gives you some hope. 🙂
Just got an interview invitation! I'm excited to check out NY
I'm going crazy waiting for an II from Einstein! Complete 8/7.

also to people who are getting interviews...what are the earliest available dates now? and do they let you select dates or are you given a few options to choose from?
They told me to start requesting dates from Oct 29th. I was scheduled for Nov 5.

I think they ask you to request a date after 4 weeks of your interview invite, but before 6 weeks. At least thats how I interpreted it! I'm interviewing in around 2 weeks, super nervous!![]()
Anyone know if they are open to in the area letters. I am going to be in NY for another interview in late October and would like to get both done in the same trip if i get an II
Completed early Aug
II out of the blue!! Soooo excited, really really wanted one from Einstein. First available is Nov 28...emailing to schedule my date.

complete: 7/24
3.5cGPA/3.4sGPA/32O
there is hope for us low stats people!
Congrats, I'm rooting for you!!! Just wondering, were you IS or OOS?
to pile onto that question... also thinking of sending an update letter/combined letter of interest to them... i've been doing a lot of shadowing at a hospital and my clinical exposure on amcas is low... anyone know where einstein stands on LOIs or update letters?
btw i've been asking this question on a bunch of threads... so i apologize for being annoying!
i know albany doesn't accept LOIs and creghton likes to get updates...so wanted to check on other schools and being a bit lazy by not checking websites first 😀
I accidentally sent my interview date preferences in reply to the invitation email instead of the email address included in the invitation. I realized my error a few minutes ago and sent it to the correct address this time. hopefully this was not seen as annoying

So, I am a re-applicant and I am answering "Yes" for the question about applying to medical school previously. The prompt states to "list schools and years applied." Do they really want me to list 30+ schools I applied to last year?
I have a quite dumb dilemma...
I know I have paid for the secondary, but I don't remember if I pressed submit afterward or not anymore. The only email I received was from Gwendolyn saying the payment has been received.
Did you guys receive an email saying the secondary has been complete as well? Or do you guys know how to check to see if your secondary is submitted or not? :/
Second year here...
In response to the question regarding an "in the area" email, I can tell you that I sent one when I had another interview in NYC, and they responded with an II. I hadn't heard anything from them in awhile, so it was a really great surprise, and they were the only school in the city that I sent one to who didn't respond with a generic "we appreciate the time and financial costs it requires to travel...but we ultimately don't care so shut up and wait your turn" email. Yet another reason why I loved Einstein. However, if you send one and don't get an II, I wouldn't jump to any conclusions; it's entirely possible that they had already reviewed my file and, if they hadn't, perhaps I wouldn't have gotten such a convenient invite. Who knows. But they are receptive to it.
I wouldn't hesitate to send any correspondence (LOI, update letters, whatever). I sent a combination of both after my interview and they happily added them to my file. However, I'm not sure where they stand on the issue before you interview, so I would just call admissions and double check.
Just FYI, I actually called them today to ask about updates. They will happily add them to your file pre-interview invite. Just include the updates in the body of an e-mail to admissions.
