I submitted my secondary a month ago, and still no complete email. Are they just really backed up or do you think I should give them a call?

Email Gwendolyn right away. wagmanager just helped me with it not too long ago (thank you!). If you log onto your secondary app. and it's not on page 8 where it should say "Thank You! You have successfully completed the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Secondary Application." If not then it hasn't been completed.

For the re-applicants:
Did you guys actually list all the schools that you applied to previously? I applied to over 20 medical schools and I feel that listing all 20 would take up close to the 200 word limit. Then I wouldn't be able to explain how I've improved since then, which I think is the more important part. Additionally, I don't remember all 20-something schools I applied to and don't have access to last year's amcas.

Any feedback please? Thanks.

I didn't list my schools from last year when I filled out the application, mainly because I didn't notice they asked for it. But I don't think it's a huge deal (since I still got an interview invite), and I'd agree that the explanation of improvement is the more important part. But you could probably call/e-mail someone if you want to double check!

Flying out tonight for my first interview! Can't say I'm not nervous, but I'm excited to start this next step! :xf:

Easier said than done, but don't be nervous. It will most likely be the most laid back interview day you'll have. Just take it in, and don't be afraid to look around or ask questions, since this is a more "self-guided" type interview day. Talk to students, get whatever information you need to get a feel for the school. My interview was literally just a very casual conversation--it felt like the interviewer was just trying to get to know me. I didn't get any stressful questions that I can recall, and they were very, very informal about it all. I was really put at ease as soon as we started talking. Everyone who I've talked to about their experience has said something similar. Obviously, you want to be on your game and come across as best as you possibly can, but do not get yourself worked up. Try to enjoy yourself. Good luck!

Anyone send an email of interest or anything similar that has gotten an II? I've sent two this cycle and both happened to result in positive feedback from both schools that received the email. Trying to do everything I can to make sure I am successful this cycle.

thats a good idea, which two schools were receptive to your emails?

II yesterday morning!

Complete 8/30
OOS, 3.45cgpa, 30R

That's amazing! Congrats, and especially since you got the II so quickly! I have similar stats and have been complete since 8/10...anyone else get a II so quickly?

Just finished my interview yesterday! Everyone was so nice and the interview was super casual. Good luck to everyone else interviewing!

Complete since 8/7 and still no news :scared:

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a MS1 at Einstein, and like you guys, I was always on StudentDoctor reading about applications, interviews, etc.

Good luck to all those who are currently applying and interviewing! It's a stressful time but you'll all get through it 🙂

So like I said, I'm a MS1 at Einstein - so I've only been here for about 6-7 weeks, but I'll say that Einstein truly is an AMAZING school and the people here really are awesome.

If anyone has some questions about the school/location/classes etc, I'll be glad to answer what I can!!!

Good luck to you all!

This is exactly what I mean! Einstein is gonna be one of the most chill, relax and awesome school that you will interview at. Everyone in my class is great! The true pass/fail curriculum really brings out the best of everyone!!!

I wonder who you are?!?!?!!?!!?

The interview day seems pretty unstructured - they don't group interviewees for presentations. Any tips on how can I make the most out of my interview day (in terms of learning more about the school, not in terms of being a more impressive candidate)?

They still give you a tour around campus so you can ask your tour guides any questions you may have. Also consider taking advantage of their offer to hook you up with a professor you want to meet, staying with a student host, and/or sitting in on a class.

I was also complete at 8/10 and no response yet...

Also, have they sent out rejections already?

I listed ALL of them and it was a lot. At first I wasn't going to, but I got scared they would look down upon me not following directions. I wish I had just said, "I applied to over 20 schools late in the application cycle last year, blah blah blah" but oh well.

Is this school known to take time to review applications?

I guess it depends. I was complete 8/9 and received an II on 8/16, but if you read through the thread you'll find that for others the review process has been longer.

I just got my secondary... I have a couple questions. I graduated in 2009, worked, went to grad school for my Master's, is this "taking time off"? Also, for LORs, it says that if your undergrad didn't have a committee, you need two letters from science faculty. However, I graduated in 2009, and those letters are too old. I chose letters from grad school instead. I also didn't attend a postbac program, it was a Master's program. And don't they just get the letters through AMCAS? halp

I got an email from the people at Einstein as I was in a similar situation. I explained why I chose the reference letters that I did provide and they said thank you for the information and marked me as complete.

Can I begin the secondary application after receiving the "Application Acknowledgment" email?

I'm a little scared of this warning: "Do not complete this application unless you have received an email from the Admissions Office with a link to the "Instructions for New Applicants" webpage or your application will be withdrawn automatically and you will forfeit your application fee."

Should I be waiting for another email to show up?

Thanks!

In my opinion it's pretty self explanatory. Don't try to go around it or you might find yourself auto-rejected. Obviously an application acknowledgement is not the same as a secondary invite. Just wait...

I am pretty sure I only received one email from them before I actually began to fill out the secondary. If they provide you with a link to their secondary then you should be good to go.

I would say the best thing you could do is talk to people. Ask the current students you meet any questions that are on your mind. There may be some questions you want answers to, but are afraid they'll reflect poorly on you/might make you seem lazy (e.g., how much work there is, how much free time is built into the week, etc.), but I assure you the students do not write anything up about you, or report back to admissions...they pop in to give a tour, eat some lunch, get to know you and answer questions, then go on their merry way. Students are the best source of information, and anything you ask them will be something they were also thinking about at your stage.

Also, if it's nice out, fell free to poke around. I think they give you information for a self-guided tour if the student-guided one isn't enough. As was already mentioned, you can sit in on a lecture (don't let the 10 minute snippet you get scare you off, med school lectures are not always the most exciting, despite what you've heard ), stay a night with a student if you want, have the admissions office set up any meetings you might be interested in...

Yeah, I'm just going to submit mine after having received the "Application Acknowledgment" E-mail with the link to the application. I think the reason why they have that first instruction is because some people may find the link earlier and try to fill it out.

II today! complete 8/23

In the email, it says " Provide dates starting with January 7, 2013." does that mean I can't schedule interview prior to jan 7, 2013?
If that is the case, then it is really late... 🙁

I'm not sure about that either. Also, it's weird that we have to email dates instead of scheduling online

Plus, they give us so many options of seeing labs, shadowing classes, meeting with profs = more confusing

hmm...4 month waiting between invites and interview seems way too long though

It was a one month wait for me, but I scheduled my interview in early August. Also they do one mass wave of acceptances early January so maybe the first wave is full so they're scheduling for the second one? I'm just guessing at this point though.

When did you submit your primary? I was verified back in June but just added Einstein on 9/9 and have yet to hear about anything regarding a secondary. I know it's early, I just wanted to know when to expect the secondary.

but did it say in your interview invite email "Provide dates starting with January 7, 2013"?
and you were only allowed to schedule for dates after that? 🙁

It said book dates past 4 weeks from today's email date, but before 6 weeks from today's email date.

mine said that too. does that mean we are interviewing for waitlist spots? I mean we got the invitation pretty early.

Does anyone know if the whole "January 7th, 2013" scheduling thing has happened with previous years?

complete 8/10 32+, 3.8+ still no answer does that mean I am likely rejected?

I highly doubt it... most of us were complete early to middle of august. that is pretty early for most of the applicants.

complete 8/2/12
