I wrote two responses on the secondary and both show up fine. Also, if you have windows just use paint to make the picture the right size. I think they just want the headshot so use the select tool and make the box so that the picture is centered. The pixel size should show up on the bottom grey bar in the screen. Then I just copy and paste into a new file and upload the cropped picture. No need for any fancy tools. Don't forget that 160 is the height not the width!

Question: I submitted my secondary a few days ago and I got two emails. One confirms payment and one confirms that I completed the secondary. Today I got a new one asking me to click a link and provide the payment authorization code from my receipt. It seems a little fishy, but maybe I'm just paranoid. Has anyone else gotten this third email and submitted their code?

I've only gotten the payment confirmation, how long after submission did you get the complete confirmation?

I was verified as of 07/02 but have not received a secondary yet. I thought they didn't prescreen. Does anybody know what the problem could be ?

Same here. I'm not verified yet but I figured I'd get this one and GWU since they don't screen, but no luck so far.

Don't cancel the payment. Just contact the school about the situation and they will refund you.
Thanks. They were really helpful. 🙂
I haven't been to the school, but I am very happy with their offices. They took care of things the same day.

I have the same problem. I emailed them yesterday, still waiting for a response.
If you haven't heard back yet, I would suggest calling. I was told to email specific people in the offices.

Could someone please post what the invitation to complete the secondary looks like? Want to make sure I got the right email before I submit

Thank you for your application to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

AMCAS has just forwarded your materials to us and we would like to get you started on completing your application. Please keep in mind that you have until February 15, 2013 to get all of your documentation to us, but please don't wait that long!

Please visit our admissions website for specific instructions on getting started: http://www.einstein.yu.edu/education/md-program/admissions/instruction-for-new-applicants/

We look forward to working with you. Thank you and good luck!

Is anybody complete yet? I submitted my secondary on June 30th.

Is anybody complete yet? I submitted my secondary on June 30th.

Are we supposed to get an email? If I log onto the supp page it says:

"Thank You! You have successfully completed the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Secondary Application.
Click here for a printable copy of your application"

Then if I click the "print" button on the bottom of the page it says:

"Submitted: 6/29/2012 5:03:16 PM

Application Printed: 7/2/2012 11:06:37 AM"

I'm not sure if that means I'm complete though...

I was in a similar state of confusion because I paid my fee and then clicked submit, so I thought I was done. However, I was perusing this thread again and someone said something that prompted me to check my application again and when I did, it brought me to the submission page again, so I submitted and I think that is when it became "complete". This is what my application says now:

Your payment was updated successfully | Thursday, July 05, 2012 @ 1:22:57 PM

I have not received and email confirmation, but I am not certain that I should be expecting one. I think the website statement is pretty conclusive.

i just submitted my secondary to einstein but accidentally checked off N/A in the letters of rec section....i meant to check off pre-professional advisory committee 🙁

I already emailed them but have to wait till monday for a response....any advice or am i screwed?

I have not received and email confirmation, but I am not certain that I should be expecting one. I think the website statement is pretty conclusive.

Is this the statement you're referring to? "The first email you will receive after this one will tell you that your Secondary Application has been received; it does not mean that your application is complete. You will receive other emails from us as we progress through the completion of your application."

I'm guessing we're not complete yet then.

Should I remove all facial hair for my picture? Or should I leave it as is? I have a goatee right now (which I maintain very well). The reason I ask is because I look like a middle school child if I completely shave :scared:

made me LOL

I'm trying to find that email you quote, but I can't. I know that once I logged back in a few days after paying the fee and thinking it was submitted, and then submitting it for real, I received this email:

"You have successfully completed the Secondary Application.
Thank you for your interest in Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Follow the link below to view a printable version of your application.

I don't know when you paid the fee, but if it has been a few days, perhaps you should try logging back in to see what it says? I hope that helps!

I have heard that it is to your advantage to look professional in the photo. In mine, I am even wearing my interview attire to aid them in recognizing me lest they somehow forget.

It's from their website, not an email. I got the "your secondary is complete" confirmation thing but based on the previous quote I don't think this means we are complete.

I agree that you're probably not "complete", but it sounds like you're just waiting for the website to update - I don't know how long that takes because I didn't check immediately after submitting mine. I would guess they'll update it sometime on Monday? If they update your status on Saturday, you should be very flattered.

Haha I think we're on different wavelengths here. I'm asking if anybody has received the notification that their secondary has been received, all their LORs are verified, and that they'll begin consideration for interview invites. I know my secondary is already complete. Do you know if they update the website or if everything is done via email?

Thanks! That's what I got. I just got a little confused/paranoid because the instructions said "Do not complete this application unless you have received an email from the Admissions Office with a link to the "Instructions for New Applicants" webpage or your application will be withdrawn automatically and you will forfeit your application fee." and I didn't see anything in the email that said "Instructions for New Applicants"

Haha - I was confused by that also but if you look at the link, it does actually contain the words "Instructions for New Applicants". They were just never used in the body of the message.

Did you do a full body shot? I was thinking of just doing shoulders and above. Also, does "looking professional" mean to shave all facial hair?

I'd do shoulders up and well, if you are well groomed, keep your facial hair but if its just a beard, shave that thing off.. doesn't look professional.

SUbmitted and paid 6/29 and I logged in today and it says that 7/5 my app was:

"Your payment was updated successfully | Thursday, July 05, 2012 @ 1:22:57 PM

damn it lol I finished everything but I have to go get a haircut and (i guess) shave my beautiful goatee off =,( so I can take a proper photo to use for my applications. Thanks for the feedback guys.

How can you guys make a shoulder and up or full body shot ? The picture is allowed to have only 125 x 160 pixels, which means it's very small. If you choose to get a shoulder and up pic, your face will be very far from the view and thus appear very small. Am I missing some technology information here ??

Also, any of you guys submitting for MSTP here ? In the first page, it asks "have you had any clinical research experience." Does this mean clinical research, i.e. working with patients in clinical trials and NOT bench research ?? If I choose no, the next page will have only "areas for future interest" without "areas of current research experience." If I choose yes, the list of areas of current research experience appear, and this list makes it look like the previous question asks for research experience in general. This prompts me to think by "have you had any clinical research experience," they mean clinically-relevant research experience in general, not necessarily clinical research per se. Any pre-MSTPers' thoughts ?

you can take a full sized headshot and then just resize it

I got this link :https://www.einstein.yu.edu/education/md-program/admissions/secondary-application/login.asp

still not seeing where it says instructions for new applicants. I must be blind haha

I got the same link and have the same question. If we click on this link it takes us to the very same login page that the "Instructions for New Applicants" page also takes us too. But does this mean since we didnt get the link to the "Instruction for New Applicants" page that we can't fill in the secondary yet?! I'm so confused.

How many emails from Einstein did people get about the secondary and can you post which link you were provided?

I got this same link in my email. But my question is, why would they tell you the date the secondary is due and give you the link to the secondary if they didn't want you to fill it out then?

I don't know but I'll probably just call them on Monday and ask.

I already started the secondary. I hope this is not an issue. We just can't submit, right? No penalty for starting it?

I have received 3 emails from them. They are below, along with the subject lines and how I interpreted them:

subject: EINSTEIN - APPLICATION ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Thank you for your application to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

AMCAS has just forwarded your materials to us and we would like to get you started on completing your application. Please keep in mind that you have until February 15, 2013 to get all of your documentation to us, but please don't wait that long!

I interpreted this as an invitation to complete the secondary because, if you look at the link, it says "instructions-for-new-applicants". So I went there and read the directions and I think I must have registered an account.

The next email I received was this:

subject: Einstein: Admission Application Registration 2012-2013

You have successfully registered for the Einstein Admission Application process.

Your Username is: username
Your Password is: goodLuck!

Login at http://www.einstein.yu.edu/education/md-program/admissions/secondary-application/login.asp to fill out your application.

This email gave me my password and username for their secondary so I began filling it out and then payed for and submitted it. Once it was actually submitted, I received the following email:

I haven't done anything else since receiving this last one because I think it means I'm done. I hope this helps!

That's interesting because I got the same first email as you but the link was different. Odd.

I have an automated receipt for my payment, but I didn't get this e-mail. When I log back into the secondary, it brings me right back to the payment window again. Should I be worrying that something went wrong with my secondary, or does it just take a while for them to process it? I paid 6/29.

I think that happened to me - if you can, try resubmitting it but don't pay them again. I had paid the fee and then thought I had submitted. However, when I revisited the application a few days later I was able to submit it again, so I did and I received that last email. What I think happened is this: I first paid my fee, but my fee was not associated with my application immediately so I was not able to actually submit the application then, but I was able to once the fee had been associated with my application.

Anyway, what does it say when you log into your application and go to step 8? When I do that, it gives me the "I certify that the information..." clause and below that, it says "Your application was already submitted".

Does anyone know how strictly enforced their recommendation guidelines are? I'm a biology major and only have two science recs from bio professors.

"Applicants who have attended a school at which there is no Pre-Professional Advisory Committee must have at least two letters of recommendation from faculty members at that school. One of these letters should be from a faculty member in the department of the applicant's major, and the other from a science faculty member."

Okay, I just got off the phone with the admissions office. They said that anyone who got the following email should go ahead and fill out the secondary;

"Thank you for your application to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Even though it doesn't have the "Instructions for new applicants" link it is still an invitation to submit the secondary. The lady who I spoke to asked me to pass this information along to anyone who is confused about it. Good luck everyone!

Do you mind me asking what you did wrong? I haven't gotten a secondary confirmation e-mail but when I re-login, at the bottom of the page it says "your application was already submitted."

I also get the 'you have submitted' message on login but never got the email finalizing it. If anyone knows whether that's an issue your feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Same here. I may send them an email.

I am in the same boat, and would love to know if anyone had some insight. I am inclined to think it is more strictly enforced than not, since they specifically state it in the secondary and their website...

Anyone receive a "complete application" email yet who submitted their secondaries?
