what? That would be the strangest requirement as some people get letters immediately after classes end...

A lot of places that I applied to required that the letters be written in the same year as the application.
 
Has anyone from the 11/30 interview group heard back about a decision yet?
 
Thinking that I might not hear back from them.

OOS
32R MCAT
3.6 s and cGPA
4.0 Grad GPA
5000+ hours hospital lab experience
1000+ hours shadowing

Wonder if the recent letters requirement is true, if so, that would make sense, since I am a re-applicant and most of my letters are a year old.

Hmm never heard of that. I have checkmarks next to my letters for Creighton so I assume it would say that they would not meet the requirements if they did not meet the requirements. I don't think the letters are holding anyone up.

Edit: Just did a quick search on their secondary application. Read it carefully, NOT 2012 but 2011 and later:

Creighton will only accept letters that are signed and dated. The letters must be current and written during 2011 or later. Letters written before 2011 will not be accepted.
Letters of Recommendation from athletic coaches may not be used to fulfill any part of the requirements.
Letters of Recommendation from Graduate Teaching Assistants will be accepted, however, the letter must be signed by both the TA and the faculty member responsible for the course.
Letters of Recommendation will be accepted from retired faculty members you completed courses from for academic credit during your college career.

Doesn't the application portal tell you if your letters have met the requirement? There's a grid on the status page for your letters with a "meets req" section.

Yea I got it too:

We are excited about your continued interest in Creighton University. As you know your application is complete and is ready to be reviewed for interview purposes. The Committee on Admissions is working diligently to review all the completed files submitted by the January 15, 2013, deadline. This will be the final interview review of the application season. Applicants selected to receive an interview will be notified by mid-February. These applicants will be invited to schedule an interview during our March interview dates.

Applicants not selected to receive an interview will be notified later in February. Unfortunately, Creighton is only able to interview 650 applicants from the 6955 applications submitted for the Fall 2013 entering class.

Please feel free to submit any additional letters and updates you believe will enhance your application. Updates should include information that is in addition to, and/or clarifies information within your AMCAS application. We especially encourage updates that pertain to the following:

Shadowing experiences
Clinical experiences
Non-medical community service experiences
Grades through unofficial/or official transcripts
Honors or awards

It is requested that you submit your updates through the Secondary Application Portal. Please utilize the following instructions in order to submit your updates:

Log into the Secondary Application Portal
Click the "Check Status/Next Steps" menu option located on the right of the page. You will be taken to the Check Status Page.
Under the "Update Materials" section please click the Document Uploads radial button. You will be taken to the Update Materials webpage. Please follow the instructions on the page to submit your updates. Please note that the Office of Medical Admissions does not accept books, tapes, or bulky objects.

We ask that you continue to monitor your email throughout the admissions process for further information concerning your application. If you have any questions about your file please feel free to contact the Office of Medical Admissions at [email protected] or 800-325-4405.

Just got it. It says they are beginning their final review of all applications submitted by the jan 15 deadline. They'll send all interview invites by mid February. They welcome updates thru the application portal.

I wonder if everyone gets these...
 
Also got that email, but parts were worded slightly differently.
 
Also, does that mean that they are revising the deadline? Cause Jan 15 passed already...or maybe they've already reviewed everyone?

Sounded like everyone had already been reviewed and were not selected for an interview. Now they are rereviewing applications until Feb 15th for the final interview spots.
 
Got accepted on 1/21. I interviewed 11/17 I believe. Good luck to everyone else.
 
I don't remember if I've asked before... Is there a Facebook group?

That's how I interpreted the email as well. I wonder how many of us are left. About 6900 applied... some have been rejected, invited, and then there leaves us .... the "in-betweeners"

I think it means that Jan 15th was the last date for submitting supplemental and they will be reviewing those applications for interview invite.
 
Accepted! Jan 21, interviewed in November.

If you were interviewed, have you gotten recent letters asking for updates? A friend of mine got two and wondered if that means that she's being considered, but they want more info? She interviewed in Nov as well.

Congrats!

About a page back, someone asked about being emailed for updates. I was also emailed for updates and got an acceptance. Let me know if you can't find that part of the thread, and I can rehash it.
 
so this letters disappearing thing... what time does it happen??

anyone try calling about their app for open door?

i was told id know by this friday, nervous for the ending. would love to go to this school.

I was also emailed for an update after I interviewed in November and was just recently accepted. I think it is a good sign for your friend! 🙂
 
Is anyone going to the Morning of Classes/Day With the Jays thing in Omaha?

What do yall think about this send-an-update-for-final-review email? Any of yall has sent anything?
 
I received the acceptance notification via email last Friday 1/25, but haven't yet received my application letter/materials in the mail yet.... hope it arrives soon!

Also, when is the best time to start looking for housing in the omaha area?
 
Just got an email of acceptance about an hour ago! (II on 12/1). OOS, 3.89 GPA; 34Q Did anyone else who got accepted notice that Dr. Quinn wrote: "It is a great pleasure to inform you that you are accepted into the Creighton University School of Medicine Class of 2016." ...or did he make that mistake just for me?

M2 status!!! 😉
 
PreMedOrDead: I'm pretty sure that you're applying to basically every school i'm applying to with the exception of U of ND (my state school, which you ironically started an application to, i believe)...I dub you the SDN king.
 
Does anyone know how many spaces are left? Also they said in the email the Feb review will be for interviews in March - any idea what the interview dates are? I'm coming from Alaska and have another interview on the East Coast early March. IF I get an interview here, it would save me a ton of money to do the interview near the time of my other one so I only have to buy one ticket...

I just got an II today and the available dates to choose from are 2/15, 2/22, 3/2, 3/22, and 3/23.

Just got an II today as well. Does anyone know if these interviews will be for waitlist spots only?

Does anyone know what scholarships Creighton offers other than the Dean's Diversity Scholarship?
