Has anyone heard anything about when they will be announcing financial aid?

I have not heard anything. The first round of scholarship applications were due on April 1st, so I guess they'll have to have time to review those then send them out. Also, I just got an email from Marissa Miles from an FIU account about the HPSP. Apparently, she is now working for FIU. She was the financial aid person that spoke to us on interview day at FAU, and I had correspondence with her as recent as a month or two ago, so that may slow things down at FAU, I'm not sure.

Decisions are up for those of us still waiting, alternate list... oh well! Good luck to the rest of you!

Alternate list as well. Interview went great, and yet now I'm stuck in limbo even longer. They said we shouldn't bother asking where we are in the list, so I guess it's back to waiting...

Good luck to the rest of you!

Anyone get any information about leaving a deposit yet?

At least it's encouraging that most of their students come from the alternate list...but isn't that saying they choose a lot of unrealistic people for acceptance first? Hopefully they'll work on that in future cycles, the wait list sucks 🙁

Don't forget to send them a confirmation! At this point, anything that shows interest might help lol

Lol thanks I did. I sent the confirmation literally minutes after ... Make sure they know how serious I am lol . Waiting is thee worse. But will be worth soon enough. Counting down on my calendar

Has anyone been accepted off the "accepted alternate" list recently? Just trying to gauge if there's been any kind of movement on this list....

how long had you been on the accepted alternate list, if you don't mind me asking?

accepted!! got pulled off the alternate list yesterday, 4/16. was put on the alternate list 3/14. can't wait 🙂!

I interviewed in march and haven't gotten my decision yet and don't think I will get one until tomorrow after the meeting, but I received an invitation to second look. did everyone receive it? it was in my spam email.

Is anyone else still at "Prelim Review completed"? I'm very surprised that rejections haven't gone out yet. All the other schools to which I applied have already sent those. Seeing as it's late April and they seem to have the alternate list already in place, why am I (or we) still being held? They can't still be interviewing, or can they?

Congrats! That is great! How did you hear, if you don't mind me asking? Phone call? Email?

I'm on the alternate list, however I did not get an invitation to second look.

I'm in the same situation. The last interview day was April 1st though, so it looks like a rejection. I don't know why they haven't had the courtesy to notify us sooner.

Did you check your spam box? A lot of the invites got placed into that folder for some reason

I have spam mail dated as far back as March 16, it is not in there. I interviewed on March 5th and was put on the alternate list on March 14.

They do indeed have two separate waitlists. Although they are both technically waitlists, if you are on the accepted alternate list the likelihood of being offered a seat is extremely high. It basically means that they would have already offered you a seat, but the class is full. Once a seat opens up, you are in the first group they will call. Should just be a matter of weeks for you now, especially with May 15th coming up. Congrats!

thanks, I am certainly keeping my fingers crossed. are you matriculating @ FAU?

accepted off the alternate list, for those still waiting, have faith!!!

Congrats! I am on the regular alternate list..i wonder what my chances are..but of course I am still keeping faith.

just to confirm

"accepted" alternate list - Alternate status on the website + e-mail stating you are an accepted alternate
alternate list - Alternate status on the website, but no e-mail

If someone could validate this, I would appreciate it!

Accepted alternate-the email will say accepted alternate, but the website will just say alternate.

Not sure what happens if youre alternate list, but I have to imagine you get an email as well.

These next couple weeks are just going to be excruciating.

I've been on the accepted alternate list since February. I attended second look and re-affirmed that FAU is DEFINITELY my top choice--the atmosphere is just so supportive, close and different than any of the other schools at which I interviewed. I'm a non-trad, so the focus on individual students and their desires, strengths, weaknesses and life-experience is super appealing to me.

I'm trying to keep my spirits up because everyone says that a good portion of the class will likely come off of that accepted alternate list, but I'm going crazy without a solid acceptance!

The feeling that I got at second-look was that they expected any of us who were invited to be able to matriculate there if we so desired...but I'm going to have to move halfway across the country and don't want to start making big plans based on "probably".

At this point though, since I'm already "accepted", I don't feel like there's anything I could do to up my chances. Just wait...

Sigh.🙂

I'm in the same spot, "accepted" alternate since January. I'm crossing my fingers because I also went to second look and reaffirmed that they were my #1.
I really hope we find out soon, the waiting is horrible.
May 15th can't come soon enough.
Good luck to you and hope to maybe seeing you in August =)

I'm in the same situation here. I was placed in the accepted alternate list in January. I though that they said something like this list was for applicants that if there have been a spot they would have been accepted. I'm trying to understand this because I have notice that people that have interviewed later in the cycle, have been already accepted, meaning that there have been open spaces. I'm not in any way saying that those people did not deserve it. I'm sure the committee though that they were better candidates it is just that I want to understand the logic of :

A) You are an excellent candidate but unfortunately we don't have a space right now but if there were a space, you would have getting in.
B) A space opened up, but we will not give it to you and will hold it until a better candidate shows up even after we told you ( see A)??

Ya, the waitlist is ranked so if a better candidate interviewed later in the cycle and was put on the alternate list then they can be accepted sooner :/ I get the system but I also don't think it's fair to those that were put on the list way earlier.

I just came here to randomly say...Guys, if you go to FAU, get the nachos at Salsarita's in the Breezeway cafeteria. They're awesome. You'll thank me. Best food at the school, IMO.

I was beginning to wonder if they had lost my application lol. Finally received the rejection email this morning. Good luck to you FAU C/O 2017. See you in residency 🙂

Does anyone know roughly until what date one should find out if they are in or not, i.e. the end of May? Thanks

I'm not an admissions officer, so don't hold me to this, but as a general rule people can be taken off of waitlists up until the day class starts...I know people who have gotten their only acceptance (not FAU, but still) a couple of weeks before school, and have heard of people who got the call the day before. Most waitlist movement should start happening next week though...Hang in there!
