There's a bunch of hotels right by the airport--I'd recommend the Residence Inn 🙂 Your day will probably end around 3:30-4, depending on how long the interview lasts. My interview was at 3:45 and I finished by 4:15. I don't know that there's anywhere to store your luggage, but you could probably call the admissions office and find out. I didn't see people bringing luggage, but the office can probably help you figure out what to do. The interview is pretty laid back, so have fun!

my flight back to nyc is at 6 am on 10/11. i guess i will have a sleep over at the airport.

Secondary today! OOS, added IU on 8/27

Just lost my subscription to US News 🙁 Can someone post numbers for the number of OOS interviewed and accepted? Thanks!

My status changed to, "under consideration."

I didn't get any email though.

EDIT: never mind, just got the "now eligible for review" email. Also, I'm not EDP.

I know it's new this year, so maybe no one knows this, but I was wondering about whether or not the applicant portal will be updated to show an accepted status once a decision is made? I didn't know if anyone had talked to or otherwise heard anything about this from any official source.

According to the MSAR, they do accept AP credit. I can confirm this personally as well, as I haven't had any issues with mine.

I don't know how it is at your school, but at IUB, AP credit just gets you out of one semester of general chem lecture/lab. IUSM requires two semester though, so you would have to take another general/inorganic class with lab to meet that requirement. Again, I realize the courses may be organized differently at different schools, so I can't know if that applies for you.

Those who are EDP: anyone know when our campus decision must be made after acceptance?

I've been going through cycles of first thinking that I'll be fine and to expect and acceptance letter in a few weeks, and them feeling like I screwed up the interview and how I'll get rejected from my only state school! Aaahhhhh!

Same here, I either feel really confident or I start thinking of all the minor things I could have done better and start to worry. At least I am EDP, so I will know in the next week or so...

No, just curious if anyone knows the timeline.

I know that you have 30 days to make your decision. Campus selection can be done at anytime.

Does your application portal say under consideration? Mine has been saying that. I wonder if it means I got relegated to the regular applicant pool.

Mine has said that for about a week now. I wouldn't worry about it. I don't think they've made decisions yet.

I heard they made decisions over the weekend. Hopefully we get in! I am an EDP and really banking on IUSM.

If that's the case, I really wish they would update it on the site. EDP here as well, and the waiting is slowly wearing away at me :scared:

I know how you feel. I keep telling myself that I'm lucky to be EDP because the waiting is considerably shorter, but right now it's pretty tough to be patient. Working on happy, calm thoughts.....:xf:

Accepted applicants may not apply to other medical schools.
EDP applicants not accepted during the EDP process will be placed in the regular applicant pool and may apply to other medical schools after October 1.

That's straight off their website, so I'm guessing EDP people will know by Oct. 1!

Yes, exactly. The absolute deadline is October 1, but in past years, EDP applicants have gotten letters a little bit earlier than that. So, we'll know by next week this time, but I think we're all getting antsy and hoping for earlier. 🙂

Ah, gotcha. How many EDP applicants do they usually accept each year? And are most EDP wanting to go to the Indy campus? Or just wanting to escape the task of writing a million secondary apps? 🙂

In previous years, 25-30 students were accepted for EDP. An admissions officer told me that last year 47 people applied for EDP.

Ah, gotcha. Someone told me that they had a ton of EDP this year, so I was curious. Thanks!

An adcom told me this year was in the 80's, basically double the normal number of EDP applicants.

Unless they expand their number of EDP applicants accepted, odds are probably better as a regular applicant.

3600 number refers to applicants. 561 IS were interviewed, 273 matriculated. 273/561 > 30/80.

80 = edp applicants
3669 = non edp applicants

edp applicant has better odds than non-edp applicant

All 3669 regular applicant are not going to be interviewed, but all EDP applicants are going to be interviewed. What I'm trying to say is that to get an acceptance after the interview, your odds are better as a regular applicant.

I don't understand what you're basing this statement on. As far as I know, there is not a set number of EDP applicants accepted vs. regular pool applicants. EDP has a higher set of requirements and shows a strong commitment to the school, so it seems more likely that as the number of EDP applicants rises, so would the number of EDP acceptances. Have you gotten official info to the contrary? If not, I don't think it makes sense to think that if roughly 25-30 were accepted out of 47 last year that only 25-30 out of 80 would be accepted this year.

Also, EDP does not mean you are guaranteed an interview. Yes, it's extremely likely to be interviewed, but it's not a given. Your application still has to warrant an interview, not just the stats part.

I see what you're saying. I was just speculating. I have no info to the contrary, I hope the number of accepted EDPs grows as the number of EDP applicants grows!

Why does the school interview so many in state but only accept like half?

I don't have the stats for the number of IS students actually accepted, but the number of students who interviewed and were accepted is greater than those who actually matriculated. So if you are just going off of those accepted, it would have been higher than the 273.

Has anyone gotten an email notice of a background check? I think in previous years this has happened.

Interviewed 9/12 at Indy, got the under consideration email yesterday.

This was fast- I don't think I did very well at the interview. This isn't the sign of a quick rejection, is it?

Got my acceptance letter today! I was IS EDP, interviewed 9/5. 3.98 cGPA 3.96 sGPA 33Q MCAT

Do you guys think they mail acceptances/rejections to the preferred or permanent address on AMCAS?

I'm out of Indiana right now and was curious.
