So if ED applicants received acceptances this week, when is the time table for RD applicants recieving interview invitations?

I would think they'd start sending stuff out this week or next. You can always call the office and ask Ms. Hatcher... she's really nice, and I'm sure she'd be happy to tell you!

Well I know that they prefer you to call between 1-4 on Thursday so I don't want to bother them!

How long did it take for you guys to start receiving emails updating you on what they have from admissions after submitting your secondaries?

Interview Invite!!! Sooooooo exciteddddd 😀 now the hard part of choosing the right day. I have a question, are back to back interviews a bad idea? like you go to three interviews in a week?

interview scheduled for 10/23/12 anyone else gonna be there?

Hey, I also received an interview invite yesterday. I replied to the email they told us to reply back to with our list of date preferences, but I haven't heard a confirmation email yet saying which date I got. Did you already receive another email saying you are scheduled for October 23rd, or did you just put that as your first choice and are hoping to get that date? Thanks and good luck with your interview.

I replied within 10 minutes of the first email and I got the confirmation email about 20 minutes later. I was just lucky enough to have been checking my email at about the time they sent it. I'm sure you will get the confirmation email soon they probably just got a flood of emails with people checking their emails later.

Wow spots must have filled up fast.just got mine for Dec 4th.who else is with me?

^ me as well, it was my third choice.... I hope they make decisions after all interviews are over, else what was the point in applying to this school early in the cycle if the criteria for interview dates is how fast you respond to an email. Still pumped to have gotten one though.

So they already have interview dates set until December?! I wonder when the next batch of invites will go out

Are there any accepted candidates or interviewees on here from the Baton Rouge area who may want to meet up and get to know one another? If we are going to be around each other (potentially at least) for the next 4 years, let's get started early.

Just a side note for current and future acceptees, when filling out the Certiphi background check, Dr. Kennedy said you should list stuff like speeding tickets, etc., not that it will usually make a big difference, but they just like to know because it will turn up in the CBC anyway.

Lol, I guess they would like to know if you can drive as fast as a doctor sometimes should!

anyone know when the next batch of invites goes out?

From the pattern of the posts here, I would say that they probabely only meet once a month to make those decision and that has been mostly towards the end of the month.

People that have already interviewed here, can you please give us some feedback on how your experience went?

The whole interview process really sold me on LSU, which is something I did not expect. There were twelve of us interviewing on Tuesday, and everyone in my group was super friendly. We started the day off in the conference room with Dr. Kennedy, giving introductions and telling something unique about ourselves. FYI: think of something that no one else could possibly have experienced. Dr. Kennedy will ask the entire table if it applies to anyone else. We then went lunch with four students (Two M1's, one M2, and a M4). The lunch was actually pretty good, and the students were incredibly informative. There was a slide show showing all of the social functions, community service events, and group trips which looked pretty fun. After that some other people spoke to us (financial aid, curriculum etc), and then it was off to the interviews. Personally, my two interviews, were super laid back. I was asked why I wanted to be a doctor, and then it lead to a 30 minute casual conversation. That was pretty much the format for both of my interviews, one question and then 30 minutes of a normal conversation. I did however talk to two other people in my group who had less than stellar interviews. Apparently, one interviewer would give them ten situations in which they had to describe how they would react (odd ethical questions, I guess?). The other interviewer was just super intense. Despite, the two shaky interviewers, almost everyone had a really similar experience to my own.

The exit interview is just to explain anything questionable in your application, but its super laid back as well.

Overall A++, once the interviews were done about 10-15 medical students came into the room just to chat. I asked most of the students if they had any regrets about attending LSU Shreveport (versus attending somewhere else). It was a unanimous consensus that they loved the school, students, and Shreveport (yeah that was a shocker).

Hope this helps!

Thank you! It's good to know you guys were relaxed throughout the day. Did you get a chance to ask when you should hear back from them?

Dr. Kennedy said the letters will be sent on Friday after they meet Thursday.

Oh nice so I'm assuming they meet at the end of each month? Yay to quick turn around. Goodluck to u 🙂

Would those accepted mind posting their stats. I would like to know where they are.

Does anyone know of II's that went out recently or since the first set in early October for that matter. When I talked to Ms. Hatcher after I was complete the second week of October she told me that they sent out enough II in the first wave to book up the school until December and that they wouldn't be inviting anyone else until December or later.

I have not heard of anyone getting II's other than the ones in that first big batch they sent out, which had all the dates through December to choose from.
I do, however, know of two people who cancelled their Shreveport interviews after being accepted RD to New Orleans. No idea if the Shreveport admissions office is filling their spots.
...But that brings me to my question: why is there such a stigma around this school in south Louisiana? My classmates seem to have this notion that most people would choose LSU-NO over Shreve, but I honestly liked the atmosphere at my Shreveport interview a LOT more than at New Orleans. Everyone seemed so happy and supportive of each other. And if I'm going through the drudgery that is med school, I want friendly & positive classmates.
My blind interviewers, both of whom were doctors educated out of state, all had nothing but praise for the students and emphasized that the med students are valuable to the operation of the whole medical center (as opposed to being flies on the wall that everyone else tolerates). They also spoke highly of the administration, saying that the people at the top are key in fostering such a supportive environment.
I also had no idea that there's a St. Jude's affiliate children's hospital right next door, which is attractive since I'm leaning toward a pediatric specialty.

Anyway, my first choice is still a certain reach school, but I was very impressed by Shreveport. If anyone has questions about the interview, feel free to PM me.
ETA since people have inquired via message: The systems-based curriculum & use of standardized patients are also strong selling points for me.

It's a New Orleans vs. Shreveport kind of thing. I don't think it has to do with the med school but the cities that they are in. The perception is that Shreveport has nothing to do and New Orleans has everything. As a Shreveport native, I don't feel that way. There's a decent nightlife in S'port from what I know but I don't really do that kind of thing so I'm going on 3rd party info. I actually have no desire to live in New Orleans but will if that's where I'm admitted to medical school.

Classes start July 30th and I'm looking to rent a house in Shreveport starting around May 15, hopefully for at least the four years of school. If anyone is interested in sharing, please message me.

Got an acceptance call from Dr. Kennedy tonight 🙂 Very cool; I didn't know they did that for RD applicants.

Hey everyone. Did anyone receive the Application Status Update email yesterday? It seems the trend is on Thursday per 2 weeks. This isn't fixed in stone, but did/didn't you receive one?

Congrats!!!! Do they call for every acceptance? That's pretty nice 🙂

I think Dr. Kennedy calls you if you're accepted at the adcom meeting a few days after your interview. Interview Tuesday, adcom meeting Thursday, he calls Thursday evening and sends letters out on Friday. If you're not accepted right away, but you get on the acceptable list, that means you can get an acceptance letter at any time thru May, but you won't get a call.
That's my understanding of the process from last year's thread.

Congratulations to those recently accepted and good luck to the ones applying!

I have created a new forum called "LSU - Shreveport MD Housing - Entering 2013" to help those accepted find housing near school. Any helpful comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

You can find the forum by typing "Shreveport Housing" in the Forum Search box.

I have received 2 so far and both were on Thursday and 2 weeks apart, but I was due to get one this past week and did not... So I guess it's intermittent.

Acceptance calls were made last Thursday, and letters went out on Friday.

I believe late july. I sent in AMCAS on day one and sent in the secondary as soon as I got it.

The earliest was Dec 18th. Then it was every Tuesday from Jan 8th to Feb 12th.

Do you mind me asking what was your GPA/MCAT?
