Ok! Trying to get my secondary submitted today. Did you guys fill out the question "Is there anything you would like to explain to the Admissions Committee about your application that would help them better understand your circumstances?".....I'm not really sure what to put here and feel like I don't have anything else to say but I feel weird leaving it blank, especially since I left the other optional question blank. Any Ideas??? Whatd you guys do??

I addressed problem areas in my application in that section. For example, I failed a pass/fail class last semester and gave an honest assessment on why I failed the course in that section. I also gave examples on how I was trying to rectify the situation. On last year's application, I wrote about my less than stellar MCAT physical sciences subscore and how much harder I was studying for my MCAT retake.

I think that the main thing the Adcom is looking for in this section is to see if applicants can look objectively at flaws on their application and address them without giving excuses.

Just got a packet in the mail from Mercer. Time to reserve a seat at the Macon campus!

Do not believe the above poster about "sabotage". Look at mercers match list. Proof is in the pudding. This match year I suspect will be one of the best.

Ok. So I've been hearing a lot of people saying that unless you live in a rural area of georgia, don't even bother applying. I grew up in north atlanta in a suburban neighborhood that doesn't really fit the type of area that mercer talks about serving in their mission statement. Will this be an automatic rejection? What do you guys think? I have done a couple of mission trips and talked about how I definitely want to work in underserved areas, but I'm super nervous that the location that I grew up in will hinder my chances of getting in.

I also grew up in a north Atlanta neighborhood that is not rural and I am a mercer student. About half of accepted applicants are from rural Georgia and half are from larger cities like Atlanta. Do not let this discourage you from applying.

I was called for an interview last week for November in Savannah, Any advice? Thanks

I got the complete email today (10/10)....how long do you guys think it will be till i (hopefully) get a call for an ii???

Did anyone get accepted from this last ADcom meeting in October?

Disregard the previous post. They did not have the ADcom meeting. The next meeting will be November 28th.

Actually the next meeting will be on Nov 14th and phone calls will start going out on the 15th for those accepted. That's what we were told at the interviews on Tuesday.

I hope your right. I called the admissions office today and the lady said that the meeting was for November 28, but earlier the better. We shall see.

Useful piece of knowledge for any current/future students of Mercer. 😏 I learned this lesson the hard way

Yes, they call to offer an interview invite.

awesome! also, do you decide which campus you want to interview at or do they assign you to one? i forget if i indicated which campus on my secondary app or if that was even an option.....and if you are allowed to chose which campus you want to interview at, are you assigned to that campus if you get an acceptance or can you pick the other campus if you want??

When I interviewed they said they were currently only interviewing in Savannah. You choose your campus preference after you've been offered an acceptance.

Finally got in contact with Sara, interviewing on december 4!!! anyone else interviewing on this day?

At my interview they said the next commitee meeting is going to be at the end of the month, so 28th is probably right.

Today was pretty stressful. I got a rejection e-mail from Mercer, stating how my MCAT score was too low and how their admission criteria have risen this year etc etc. Anyway, I panicked and called the admissions office. Turned out they didn't know I had a higher MCAT score than what I applied with last year and offered me an interview!

Complete 9/13. II Dec. 4 in Savannah.

Good luck everyone!

In the past, the MCAT cutoff was 24. If you don't mind me asking has the cutoff risen from a 24?

nope, cutoff is still a 24. I know because I didn't get the secondary until my second MCAT came in because my first MCAT was a 23

I have a question for any current students or alumni at the Macon campus. Does anyone have any recommendations on places to rent in Macon? I would prefer to live some place where most of the students renting are attending one of the graduate schools at Mercer, as opposed to undergrads.

Anybody who interviewed here care to share what the interview was like/what kinds of questions were asked/ect.??

Thanks in advance!

So if we interviewed already (a month ago) and ad com meets today--if we are accepted should we expect a call today?! or tonight? anyone know how this usually goes?

I am soooooo anxious to hear!!!!!!

Good luck y'all!

I think we would hear anytime from tonight to Friday - it depends on who your committee interviewer was.

Hey
as far as interviews go, mine (in Sav) was pretty laid back. The day was as relaxing as possible and my interviewers made me feel at ease. They were blind, which was a little difficult because you had to talk on behalf of yourself since you didn't have your application in front of them to do it for you.
I found both interviewers very personable and interesting. No jarring questions on policy/ethics etc.
You should be fine! Good luck 🙂

Depending on your interviewer, you may or may not receive a phone cal tonight if you have been accepted. Actually, it seems as if most of the calls come the following day. Good luck everyone!

Well, no calls tonight? Still hope for tomorrow! Fingers crossed...

I'm interviewing at the Savannah campus for the second time. Does anyone know if I'm likely to have the same interviewers via alphabetical order?

Congrats! When did you get the call?

ahhhhh i want the call!!!

and congrats!

any one else get a call?

Where to live in Macon? North macon is much nicer than downtown so it depends on what you are looking for. You can find places near downtown cheap that are minutes from the hospital/school but it is city living (expect to see the homeless). Check out mill creek run apartments. 15 minutes south. Reasonable prices, safe, quiet. Other names: Rivoli Run, Bristol Park, Lullwater at bass
