Already did. Last week the office said movement should start this week and continue for a few weeks. Nothing said about the class is overbooked. It will happen.
 
The movement could start any day now. If anyone's reading this thread, please report status updates.

It's Thursday... Any idea if there's a specific time/day when the adcom meets? I'm starting to get antsy checking my email every few minutes.
 
When I called the office last week I was told that someone from the committee was out and recently returned, and that the movement would start in the "next few weeks." Let's try to be patient and who knows, soon some of us could have a life changing event.

Another day goes by with no news. 🙁

Thanks for all the info clockwise! It's been greatly appreciated. Would you be able to tell us exactly what was said? I know some of us are on pins and needles waiting and any more info would be really appreciated. Did they say they were expecting it to start moving this week, or did they say "sometime in the next couple weeks?" I'm curious because I want to know whether to start obsessively checking my email or not.*

They said "next couple weeks." I thought they said 3 weeks. I assumed it would be this week, but that's probably my wishful thinking. I'm the same as you.

At this time many people on the waitlist may be committed to other schools. Let's hope the committee has pity for those of us dying for a single acceptance. :laugh:
 
Any girls looking for a roommate? I was just accepted to the Tulane ACP program and I'm starting to look for housing.
 
What's the chance that someone here will be very happy by tonight? How much longer must we wait. If not it'll be a very long weekend.
 
Another week goes by with no movement, sadly. Does anybody know, is this really uncommon for a medical school to have not even started waitlist movement by now?

Everything has been so silent.
 
i'm now wait-listed for the MD program AND the ACP program. hurray.

I think this year is an exception. Last year they would have had most of the movement by now. Someone can try calling the office on Monday.
 
maybe something will happen this week everyone start praying to the med school gods
 
I have good news and bad news.

Good news is the movement already started. The bad is none of us seem to be the lucky ones.

I did. I was told it's been going on for a week. Dr. Beckman is in charge and there is no set criteria. Decisions depend on letters and updates. Maybe the 2 I sent were not enough. I thought they were strongly worded and sincere. There are so many reasons why I love this school.🙁
 
Well, just because no one has heard yet doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Movement has started, but who knows how quickly they are filling spots. Hopefully we'll hear this week. Also, does anyone know how they contact you and when last week did movement start?
 
Is anyone else going insane over the wait? During my previous conversations with the office, I was told that the movement lasts approximately 3 weeks. Yesterday I was told that the movement "should be picking up." Safe to say if we're not in by the end of next week we're like those people without lifeboats on the Titanic.

hey all ya waitlisters out there, I feel ya. I hope that you all can get off the waitlist but unfortunately the whole waitlist process seems to be a little bit of a trickledown application. I am waitlsited at a school and I know of at least two others currently accepted at Tulane also waiting on other "1" schools. so while the movement may be "picking up" or some other colloquialism, don't give out hope until orientation. for instance if all three of us ended up getting off the waitlist in late June, bam three spots that need to be filled.
I only bring this up because I have heard a rumor that some "top" schools do not start using their waitlists until June and, until the "top" schools are completely filled you just never know what may happen.

I hope to see as many of you as possible in August though (assuming I never get off my waitlists).

side note, did y'all apply to the Tulane anatomy/post bacc program?
 
I hope you and the others all get in your top choices. It's a win for us all. Tulane is my dream school. If only the adcoms can understand that. +pity+

i was waitlisted at the ACP program as well. im in the "top 15", they said in the letter.

GOOD LUCK!!

if you get in there could end up being a blessing in disguise. obviously more loans, but also breaking up T1 year and already knowing NOLA/having a base of people you know well into Tulane classes could be pretty freaking awesome.

yea at this point i'd be happy with an acceptance at either program
 
Are we cursed? Why do all the waitlist acceptances go to people who don't post here.
 
I wanted to share with all of you what I was told. Basically, the waitlist isn't moving like it has in previous years (obviously). Basically, it's been moving very slowly and few spots have opened up. Apparently, there has been way fewer withdraws than they were expecting. Hold out hope, though! Who knows what will happen!

to quote the immortal CCR "I heard it through the Grapevine" that because Tulane had a second look this year (their first ever and it was baller) they think they have convinced less people to withdraw.

I heard this from another admit and I am not sure where he heard it from so you can take it with a grain of salt, but that could be explaining the lack of movement this year.

i think waitlist movement has been slow in general this year...too many qualified applicants, not enough spots. sometimes it's just a numbers game.
 
Anyone heard anything?

It'll be terrible if no waitlisters get in at this school.

Please send update letters/do whatever you can to get into your dream school, so you can go to your dream school and we can go to ours. 😀

Don't, you will definitely hate it 😉 just kidding, congrats. Was told on Friday that although wait list movement technically could continue up until school starts, if I don't hear back "within two or three weeks" I should probably start planning to apply next cycle. So hope is not yet lost!

for any current MD/MPH students,

I was thinking of taking to online MPH courses in July. I will be moving the last week ofjuly to NOLA, and currently my weekends are busy. I guess my question is how difficult/how much of a time comitment are online courses?

yeah I work 40 hours a week as an americorps volunteer. but that's a bit misleading because there are several days where i kinda have no work. I was planning on being able to have anywhere from 1-3 hours a day during weekdays available to study/do school work.

I think the classes that the person said where still available were
GCHB6030 and GHSD6450
