Anyone have the "Complete-hold" status on Dodmerb and know what it means?

Congratulations to all of you who made it! I'll be applying in 2013 and was wondering for those of you in, if you can list your stats and describe what you believe made you competitive? I'd be utterly grateful! Once again, congrats and I respect you all!

Stats: 3.72 GPA, 33R MCAT
Have leadership, clinical, research, and work experience and you'll be good. Some kind of military background is helpful (family, JRO/RO, scouting, etc).
Apply at the earliest possible time to correct any discrepancies (waiting on LOR's/AMCAS verification, etc) and because of rolling admissions.

PM'd w/ more specifics

Stats: 3.74 undergrad, 4.0 postbacc, 35R MCAT. Interviewed Oct 25, conditionally accepted on Nov 20 for the Navy, and unconditionally accepted on Dec 17.

I was a non-trad, with a degree in violin performance. My dad was in the army, and I've had numerous leadership experiences acting as concertmasters for various orchestras growing up and while I was in school. If your stats are not up to par, definitely apply early.

Hey does anybody know if there are still seats left? Or are those interviewing competing for spots on waitlist?

When I talked to Dean Saguil a couple weeks ago, slots were filling up, but they were still open. But some of the services were starting to get tight on their numbers at this point.

When I spoke with someone from admissions the other day, the Navy spots were all full, but there were spots still open in the Army. I didn't hear anything about the USAF. However, I think there can be a lot of movement on the wait list.

I'm a non-traditional applicant. My experiences involve living in a foreign country for a couple of years. I taught high school for 3 years. And now I have been an active duty officer in the Navy for four years. I had 3.4 undergrad GPA, 4.0 post Bac. Caculated BCMP is about 3.45. MCAT was 31. My GPA is a bit lower than their average, MCAT is only average Despite my age and average statistics, I think my life experiences outside academia are what make me a competitive applicant.

Received my unconditional acceptance letter today. Interviewed early September, conditionally accepted October 16th.

Are they still interviewing?

Yes, I know will be giving interview invites for another couple of weeks. I had a friend last year who, interviewed in late February or March and was offered a seat in April.

So, the calendar for 2013-2014 still isn't posted yet, but I am trying to plan housing, etc. AF COT graduation is Aug 2, and it looks like Brigade is typically the first or second week of August. The first Monday is the 5th (giving only three days to get back to MD). Does anyone have any insight as to whether we will have to be back on the 5th or will it be the 12th?

I tried to get more info, but it was very much in the air and the only answer I really got was more info will become available the closer we get. And that travel costs and shipping your gear was reimbursed through your nearest travel office :/

Just got a letter saying I was placed on Hold Status. What is that exactly? Is that a precursor to the wait list and is there movement from that before may?

Is this post interview? They said hold status was the step before getting waitlisted - you may be bumped up to WL status... do you have the blue sheet from interview day? I think it explains a bit better on there. I think this is better than alternate listed but I'm not positive.

PS - when did you interview if you don't mine me asking?

Yea this is post interview, I interviewed on November 8th. I'll have to try to find that folder from interview day. Gahh why cant they just have everything online

According to the paper: Hold selection: "The Admissions Committee has determined that they would like to postpone making a decision on your application at this time. This category of candidates will be monitored by the Admissions Committee and updates notifications will begin no earlier than March."

It doesn't say where it lies in relation to the Wait List or Alternate List.

I have yet to receive the paperwork from the security department. The II email states if you haven't gotten it within a week of your interview to contact the security office. I've been calling since last Wednesday and have yet to get ahold of the individual in charge of it (either he isn't there or no answer). Is this just a blank document someone on SDN could send me? Supposedly we are supposed to fill it out and bring it with us on interview day.

edit: Nevermind. It's an SF86 form. If anyone else has this problem just google it.

Hey all, I just withdrew from here, so there's another Army spot available for someone. I really would've loved to go here, but we're staying close to home and using HPSP/HSCP.

Good luck to you all.

got unconditional acceptance. Does anyone know how soon the army will contact us to start the commissioning process?

Anybody had to do remedials for their DODMERB? How long did it take to process?

You get your orders for commissioning anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks prior to your summer training program. Once you get your orders, you go to the nearest officer and have them read your oath, you sign your paperwork, the date you sign the form is the date your paycheck starts and the date you officially commission. Your first paycheck will arrive sometime during your training program.

But otherwise, actual orders/paperwork for commissioning don't come until May/June or so. I don't know about other communications/information though.

It depends on the remedials, if it's just administrative, if you overnight your stuff, they update your file pretty much on the same day they receive it and you'll see it on the website, the longest part is them sending you the letter in the mail, but you don't need to wait for that.

If it's a medical remedial where you need to see someone, it depends on the specific condition, but for a lot of them, they allow you to use your own physician, which usually means you can schedule faster and get results sent in faster.

All told, I did an administrative and a subsequent medical remedial in under a week from noticing them on the status website and got the qualified notification to boot, just from being a hawk on the website, emailing forms in instead of mailing where possible, and overnighting the rest.

Withdrew my Army acceptance today. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Anyone hear back about conditional acceptances in JANUARY yet, regardless of interview date?

Also, thanks to anyone giving the heads up about any withdrawals of acceptances!

After rereading the entirety of this thread, I haven't seen too many people announcing AF/PHS acceptances as of yet. A majority seem to be for the Navy & the Army. I know that the SDN population is not all of the applicants out there, but it makes me somewhat hopeful. Any word on either of these two branches in regard to how full they are/n't at this point? Thank you in advance!

As of early dec, PHS, Navy and AF were FULL. This is according to Col. Saguil. So, I am not entirely sure where the accepted ppl are at or if they do not want to identify themselves on SDN by announcing branch + acceptance.

I had to do two remedials. I faxed them directly to DoDMERB. Within 2 business days I had a letter in my mailbox each time. The only thing that took any time at all was see the physicians.

Are you sure? I'm interviewing next week and have also had no correspondence about any paperwork?

-why did u have to do two remedials? i just want to make sure that i do mine right the first time around because it is very inconvenient for me to go to my private physician (i live pretty far from my physician).

correct me if im wrong. so for medical remedials, i should print out the medical forms again online, and ask my private physician to fill the specific section that was pointed out by the remedial letter.

It depends on the remedial and the information requested, but usually, yes.

If you want to check everything to make sure you'll only need one trip: See what the regulations are (you can see them under the Army medical standards), this allows you to see what standard they're trying to fit you in for the specific condition; so you can make sure whatever it is, is measured/poked/prodded in the correct way and you can get that info sent in. Hope that helps.

I'm one of those elusive AF unconditionals. Got my letter over the holiday break, and it was waiting for me in the mailbox when I returned.

Nice, and congrats! No email or phone call?

From what I understand, some of you received an email asking for an extra essay, and then got an interview request a few weeks later.

I had to answer an extra essay question exactly a month ago and since then I have heard nothing. I was hopeful that the "extra essay" was a good sign... does this mean they didn't like my answer, or can I still have reason to be optimistic that I'll get an interview soon?

My remedial letter stated that I needed that ridiculous eye exam and the reading aloud test. For whatever reason I thought both items would have been covered when I visited with the optometrist. After not thinking about the full scope of the eye exam, I faxed my results into DoDMERB. I subsequently received another remedial letter in the mail two days later. Then I had a physician perform the reading aloud test, faxed the result, and had the final approval a few business days later.

Waitlist for all because they said by the time they would get around to our apps, everything would be full (including Army). This was already the 1st week of Dec.
