As long as they're talking about you, then you have a better chance than people who get an out right rejection. You have a chance and be strong like a rail road train.

You're being entirely too optimistic cheechoo. Here:

I just called the admissions office, and they confirmed that most people that are on the interview waitlist won't get interviewed.
hold here as well. let the waiting game begin again..

Well I do agree it's going to be nearly impossible to get an interview after being on hold, but I feel like out of those 500, many people withdrew from UCSD after getting accepted elsewhere... Increasing our chances a little more 🙂
Have there been any interviews here yet? If not can any current student give a breakdown of the days schedule so other can know what to expect? Any other info would be appreciated.
Interviews start Sept. 18th, and they are held every Tuesday and Thursday. Based on the free clinic tour sign up, interviews have been offered through October. Two one hour open file interviews, presention, and tour. On campus from 8-2. That's all I know.
Thanks, good luck on the upcoming interview!!!
I didn't find it either, but my interview date also isn't posted on the page. I'm thinking maybe we need to wait for UCSD to receive our interview confirmation email and then they'll update the status page. If your date is December 4th then I'll see you there!Oh also, the interview invite email says "Information on staying with a medical student and visiting the Free Clinic while in San Diego can be found on the status check page." Has anyone actually found that information?

I got my interview in July and tha info didn't come up on the status page until a week or to ago. Also, the clinic tour sign up dates were only available until the end of October. I think there may be blocks of dates and as your interview approaches you can sign up.
When it is available on the status page you can fill out a preferred demographic check list for student hosts. Things like male vs female, roommates vs living alone, smoker/nonsmoker ect. Once you fill that out they email you a list of students you can contact that fit your request.
Anyone who interviewed on the 25 have any comments?
Interviews are very relaxed. You need to know your stuff, but they do a good job of putting you at ease. They weren't confrontational. They actually want to have a conversation and find out about you. Don't worry about the interview, it will only stress you out.
Thanks. Can you be a little more specific about knowing your stuff? Is that knowing your file or very specific questions about the research you were involve with?
Hi everyone!
I just received an interview for the PRIME program. Is it just one interview for both the regular MD and the PRIME? The PRIME interview is an MMI... Is the regular MD interview also an MMI? Has anyone else received an invitation to the PRIME program interview/been to a PRIME program interview and understand how this is supposed to work? I thought for most other UCs, your PRIME interview was a separate process.
I was complete August 2nd, for anyone interested.
My first interview was very conversational and enjoyable. My second was more of a discussion of each activity I listed on my AMCAS, but still relaxed. They don't grill you about specifics but I think I did a good job giving an overall picture of my work. By "know your stuff" I mean be able to give a concise eloquent explanation of things you did. If you can do that they won't ask specifics. If you are comfortable with explaining things on your application to a person you just met at a bar for example, then you will be fine. Both asked me about how I arrived at the decision to be a physician as well.
Don't be surprised if your interview goes in a direction completely unrelated to medicine. Good luck!
I'll be interviewing at another California school in mid-January. I was wondering:
1) Is UCSD receptive to in the area emails?
2) If so, when should I email them? January is quite a bit off, but maybe more notice is better? And I guess there is a chance that I could get an interview earlier than January, which is better obviously because UCSD is rolling. So maybe hold off?
Thanks! Also posted this in the USC thread - sorry for "double posting"

Does anyone know if it's easy/doable to get from the San Diego Amtrak station to the medical school campus without a car?
And what about getting from campus to the San Diego airport?
Getting to campus from the airport is going to require a car of some sort, be it a cab or something else. It's about a 20-30 minute drive to campus via freeway, depending on traffic etc. I'm not sure about the Amtrak station, but I don't recall it being very close to campus. The campus is in the city of La Jolla, not San Diego (I'm not sure if a lot of people know this). There is also the option of taking the MTS buses, which run pretty regularly and are a decent way of getting around the area, so you might want to look into those. Hope this helps!
Anyone know if SD has started rejecting people?
How do we know if we are complete or not?
