Anybody figure out how to e-pay? It says the site is down whenever I try. Do I have to do it on a weekday or something lol

I don't know about the epay, but at UCSD a lot of things are down/inaccessible during certain periods at night... there's a set schedule.. I don't remember as I haven't had to worry about that for years.

Wow, I'm finally aboard the UCSD train... the screening train that is. It really takes 6 - 8 weeks just check out my scores, grades, and I guess ECs? Sigh, I can wait.

Oh really :eyebrow:

I thought I had just been put in the hold till the January review, but this has brought back hopes that maybe they will review mine here in the next few days and send me a secondary. :xf:

Edit: Never mind. I clearly missed the point of what this was saying 🙄

Doubt it will take that long but things might be slowing down. If you have high enough stats you'll probably get one quickly.

Don't stress about it. I got the same email followed by my secondary the next day.

School's "median" MCAT (according to MSAR), I'll see how it goes.

I added the school about a month after AMCAS started sending out to the schools. It took them about a week to receive my app, but once I got the "app received" email my secondary came in 2 days later.

Also, does anyone know ifUCSD sends out a complete email? From their status page it seems like they only confirm the date you submitted the secondary.

I don't think so. I was complete on 8/5 but haven't gotten an email confirming it. On the status page, "completed secondary application" seems to indicate that they've gotten everything they need from you, including LORs.

Are you sure about that? My committee letter was just released, but it said that my secondary was completed back in July. So I'm not sure if that includes the date the LOR's were received.

Anyone know how to check if your app is complete including LOR's?

I'll be waiting in Pacific Beach, maybe I'll go grab a beer at Ale House.

I envy you! At least you get to wait in a beautiful place. I will be thinking of the Pacific from across the continent in D.C. September can't come soon enough!

Dear ShenanigansMD,

The University of California-San Diego School of Medicine (UCSD SOM) Admissions Committee has reviewed your primary AMCAS application, and would like to invite you to submit a secondary application.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The San Diego area kicks so much ***. I'm going to the beach right now! Party in PB!!!

Congrats! =D I'm just praying they loved my secondary enough to want more of me ...

See it happened right away. Now just kill that secondary and get the interview.

Dude you'll totally love it; this weather just can't be beat.

Does anyone know if any more interviews have been sent out aside from the initial batch?

Any Inception fans here? This school has a crazy library with influences on awesome movies:

Left: Geisel
Right: Inception

I came to La Jolla for my celebratory MCAT trip in May and fell in love. I've just been waiting to come back. Hopefully the interview goes well and it will be permanent.

Are there any current medical students that can talk about the medical school, such as the curriculum, grading, extra-curricular activities, etc?
I've tried looking for information about the school, but I couldn't find anything within the last five years, and everything else would be outdated in my opinion.

I just got an email this morning from the UCSD that they had received my verified application... But about a week ago I had the same email sent out to me. Did anyone else have this happen to them?

Turned in secondary: 7/12 (not sure when complete since they don't really tell you)
Found out through email.

Got an interview at UCSD today. Woohoo. Out of state too, which surprised me a bit.

Doubles your chances maybe? 😎

Primary Received: 7/2/12
Secondary Request: 7/3/12
Secondary Received: 7/23/12
Interview Invitation: 8/22/12 🙂

Does anyone know approximately what % of interviewees are accepted?

Thanks! 🙂

has anyone received an interview that applied to the masters in clinical research program?

yeah that happened to me as well.

Hey, I saw your "what are my chances thread" (I realize this isn't the place for this but you will probably check this more often). It resonated with me because you and I have very similar applications. When the med advisor at NIH reviewed my file he said I had a realistic shot at any school besides ivy leagues, Stanford, and UCSF. So hopefully you applied to some great schools because you have more pub. than I do.

Nice, I also work at the NIH. We should exchange institute acronyms then ashamedly look them up online to figure out what they are.

Cool, I saw your DC via Nor Cal and was wondering about that... I work as a contractor for HJF in the CC in the LDRR and our work is affiliated with the CNRM . Loving my time in the city of acronyms haha!

Of those, I only know what CC is lol. I work in PGD, which is associated with LMGR, which is part of NICHD.

Ha, no idea but my intuition says you are a.... developmental biologist!

In a nut shell, I bonk rats on the head and try to fix them.
