you aren't!

also

Safewalking like bernie!

i was verified 8/22 but no secondary yet. is this bad?

OOS? good job man!

Some let the oos status make you think you have an extreme disadvantage. 40% of those accepted are oos.

I know - I was pretty surprised to see that. I guess they screen heavily both pre-secondary and pre-interview. Anyway, here's the admissions data from last year:

Overall: 277 offers out of 486 interviewees (56.9%)
In-state: 188 offers out of 331 interviewees (56.8%)
Out of state: 89 offers out of 155 interviewees (57.4%)

Some let the oos status make you think you have an extreme disadvantage. 40% of those accepted are oos.

People keep saying this, but it doesn't match the admissions data posted earlier, which suggests only 30% of the people interviewed are OOS and ultimately 30% of acceptances go to OOS.

Nope, in state. Thanks though!

Shortly after my II, I got an email saying there was a "request for supplemental information." Does that just mean the course update, or am I missing something else?

On your status page, if you scroll down, there is a section where they want you to update your courses! I didn't even notice it was there too. I think that's what your e-mail means. Also, congrats on the II !!

My stats come from the Dean of admissions himself during interview day.

For MMP, how competitive is the program? (# of spots?)

What is the program like?

Is this only if you have an II? I don't see anything on my status page.

Mind if I ask when your primary was verified? I'm waiting on the secondary still and my primary was verified on Aug 21.

Rejected. Complete 7/26. OOS. Stats available via MDApps. Thus disappears my dream of attending medical school in northern California...

Looking at elevenses with that superstar app getting rejected with those stats made me vomit

UCSF has had my secondary for two months..... No rejection, no ii..... I am going to choose to think of this as a good thing.

Just wondering -- has anyone received an official pre-secondary rejection (and if so, snail mail or email)?

Yes, both pre-secondary and post-secondary rejections have gone out via email.

Just received a secondary today!!! MSTP applicant 🙂 Verified August 26th and secondary received today. If you've been waiting and haven't received a secondary, there is still hope!!

got an II when I checked my email this morning!! i'm in state, 3.9+ gpa and 36s mcat. good luck to everybody else waiting! i submitted my secondary 7/28 and my school sent in my LORs around 8/15.

How do I know if I'm complete for this school? They have my secondary and LOR but it just says Secondary Submitted on status page

I just received an email letting me know that my secondary had been received. And of course the status page shows Secondary submitted. They don't send completion emails.

Does anyone know if UCSF accepts in the area emails (even if I'm from so. Cal)?

For people getting invites, did anyone leave secondary essay blank? If you wrote something, was it just a brief blog about what you have been up to? I'm trying to figure out what to write for it....

I just expanded on my activities and let them know what I was doing currently (~270 words).

... I was actually being serious. Believe it or not, it still costs money to fly to San Francisco even though I'm in state, and I don't have the time to drive there because of school...anyone else, would it really be that weird for someone from Southern California to send an email letting them know that I'm in San Francisco? This cycle is already getting too expensive, so I'd like to save money if possible. But if it would look too weird, I won't do it.

There was a thread about this earlier, and I think the end result was 2 people saying go for it, while the rest (5-6) people said no. Personally I wouldn't do it.

There are some particularly cheap (albeit very very uncomfortable and awkward) buses that will take you from so. cal to nor. cal for around 40 bucks one way, but I think I'd much rather drive myself (~1 tank of gas each way) or fly (45 dollar specials from jet blue).

Whaaaat? The Vietnamese bus (xe do hoang) was very comfortable for me. And how is it awkward? Just sit there, enjoy the AC and read a good book

Old grumpy man kept kicking my chair. Sat next to the smelly restroom cause my friend and I wanted to sit next to each other and the other seats were taken. I'm also not a big fan of Paris by night haha all in all I'd rather fly since it's only five bucks more.

about the essay in the secondary..
I also expanded on my activities/experiences, and I talked a bit about how what I learned from those experiences makes me a good fit specifically for ucsf.

hey quick question - I added UCSF to my primary app yesterday, and received an email from UCSF saying that there was a status update on my application. When I logged on the secondary was there for me to fill out, but I never really received a traditional "secondary invitation" email. I can fill it out and submit, right? Or should I wait for an invitation email?

I'm pretty sure that is your invitation to complete the secondary. That's how the UCSF status page works. They send you an e-mail notifying you of a status change (good or bad) and you check! This is how it was for my secondary and my interview invite. Also, congrats on getting a secondary!

Thank you! I am sure this has been answered, but I couldnt find it:

Does anyone know how many secondaries are given out?
