I interview tomorrow and was wondering if someone could clarify the address we are supposed to check in at. I know it says to check in in the admissions office, but I'm not sure where that is. Is it the main 231 albert Sabin way address?

Anyone who interviewed on 12/7 hoping to hear good news tomorrow or Wednesday? What do you think the chances are that they get to our apps today? It will be hard waiting until Jan. 8th or 9th if we don't hear this week.

I agree! I interviewed 11/9 and I'm STILL waiting to hear :-(

I know, right? Trying to remain mellow. (I was the only 30something, to my knowledge, in the AM group. 😀) Good luck, everyone!

Does anyone know what time they usually send out decisions? I'm hoping I went to committee this week because I submitted the update request for the committee before last week. They meet on Monday's right?

Accepted as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Top choice SUCH A GREAT SCHOOL!

Congrats to all! Welcome to the class (should you choose to matriculate!).

Waitlist. I was actually surprised considering I felt that I bombed the MMI pretty badly and was expecting a rejection.

Anyone know what waitlist movement is like at Cincinnati?

congrats to those accepted!

It all depends on which 1/3 you are ranked in (find out in May).

From my Earlier post:
I know several people who were top 1/3 WL who were accepted. I don't have the exact numbers, but can tell you that the movement really does vary every year.

They don't pull off the wait list by straight rank, much of it is demographic based to fill holes in their class.

From memory I do remember most of the movement being in mid-late June.

I was top 1/3 WL last year, and did not receive an invite. I was told by the AdCom that this was a combination of unusually small WL movement and demographics.

Best of luck to you!

Waitlisted as well over here. Yo, people, in this case of all cases we have to stay positive. Dr. Manuel in point of fact--we were all there--gave a fantastic talk on waitlist movement, among other things.

(Now my instate waitlist, that hurt. But wrong thread 😀 So instate people waitlisted, I FEEL YOUR PAIN, we WILL PREVAIL, etc.)

for those that have been accepted- we don't have to do anything to hold our spot, right? i got the acceptance letter via snail mail that basically just tells us again that we're accepted, but with no instructions on how to hold a spot.

getting a little paranoid, so i just wanted to double check. thanks in advance!

I believe you "accept " your spot on the status page, but there is no fee/deposit to hold your spot which is nice!

Got an interview invite for January 24 and 25 for some diversity dinner and interview the next day. Anyone else got this?

+1! What is this about? I'm intrigued...

Lafakads, if you get any info on this, please PM me!

Getting pretty excited about Cinci!!! I have been strongly thinking about pediatrics and they have a ba gym!!!! Would love to hear some students chipin🙂

is there a date set yet for second look weekend?

ii yesterday for mid-Feb... though I think I will withdraw my application because I have been accepted to my state school. Hope it goes to one of you!

I completed my secondary in late July, but still no interview invite. 3.6, 34R. I've gotten interviews/acceptances at other schools...so my question is, is this normal for UC? Thanks!

Withdrew my application today, hopefully that will at least marginally speed things up for someone else. Wasn't really expecting anything after six months of non-correspondence though :\

Are you in state or out of state? For a state school, when you're out of state, whether or not you get an interview can be VERY random. For example, I did my undergrad at University of Maryland, but haven't heard a thing from their Med school even though I have higher than average stats. I'm out of state so I think that puts me at a disadvantage.

Are their any current medical students on this thread? I was wondering about UCs options for Medical Spanish and international opportunities? I couldn't find anything about it on their website, which I found strange since most other schools I applied to had a big section for Global health.

ACCEPTED! First acceptance! Interviewed 12/14. Awesome school, number one choice! Good luck everyone, hope to see many of you later in 2013.

I'm from Ohio. I've gotten into Wright, on wait list at OSU...it's just weird about Cincy it seems. But for everyone going there, congratulations! It seems like a great institution.

I'm in the same boat as you (sort of) I was accepted to UC and Wright, but I haven't heard a thing from OSU and I'm instate as well.

+1 I really liked UC and WSU, but it'd be nice to see what OSU is like.

II for Feb. 15... Does anyone know how the Holmes Hotel on Eden is? Looking at places to stay and not sure what the neighborhood/accommodations are like...

Has anyone tried to email Dean Manuel lately? If I recall correctly he told us at the interview day to email him with any questions, and I emailed him over a week ago and haven't heard a response. I kind of want to either send another email or call him at the start of next week, but I wanted to see if others had contacted him recently and not heard a response either.

It's not too bad. Not fancy, but clean with nice staff. For the cost and the walking distance, I'd stay there again.

Is it too early to make a facebook group for class 2017? Did someone make one already?

Admitted and planning to go to UCCOM? Search for the UCCOM Class of 2017 on facebook and join the group!

Ok cool, thanks for the input. Yeah, I'm trying to keep the cost to a minimum, so I'm glad I have this option.

Been a while since I've had time to check SDN. I'm an M2 at UCCOM right now and and more than happy to try to answer any questions anyone has about the school, the Cincinnati area (places to live, where the good bars are, etc.). And yes, it great having a fairly complete gym on site to hit up between classes.

If I remember correctly from some emails earlier this year/last year, the Latino Med Student Assoc has put together a series of medical Spanish classes being taught by one of the medical interpreters from Cincinnati Children's.

For internation opportunities, UC has an affiliation with a medical college in Germany(Hamburg I believe) that allows for easy coordination of rotations abroad. We also had 2 students spend a month in the Czech Republic for 1 month with a Neurosurgical department. UC is also in talks with a university in China to create a medical school for them with the intention of making it easier to do rotations there as well. (http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121112/NEWS0102/311120032/UC-explores-options-China)

So I made a post earlier on here asking if anyone had gotten in touch with Dr. Manuel, and I wanted to follow up on that.

I found out Dr. Manuel was out of the country for business and then out sick for the entirety of the month until last week. If you contacted him during that time and didn't hear back, that's why. Since he's back in the office now (I presume), I'd suggest either emailing him again or contacting the Admissions Office and setting up a phone call with him.

Hope that helped!
