Another Q for current students!

If I take the L blue line and get off at Illinois Medical District, can I walk from the L stop to the med school? I live in the NW burbs and would LOVE to avoid driving!

more like a question for google maps. the L stops show up as blue M's. The blue line and another line (forget which one, its the one that goes towards streeterville i think) come very close to the medical center.

so the answer is definitely yes, although that ride is going to take you quite a while! doesnt the blue line go through the loop before coming back out to UIC?

So it seems like applicant in progress -> applicant in process is a good sign.

Applicant in progress just seems the application is with the screeners.

I think the other line is the pink one.

That's what I think. However, there were some people that followed the process --> progress --> process sequence and received good news. WHAT DOES IT MEAN?! haha

You can take the Blue line, but if you do, transfer to the Pink line at the loop. Both take you to school, but the Pink line is right on campus and maybe a 2 minute walk from the med school. If you want to take the Blue line and get of at the IMD stop, you'll have to walk around 10 minutes on Wood to get to the school.

Yep. But depending on which suburb you're in, can park & ride out of Forest Park (the other end of the Blue, runs down the Ike) and it's 15min...

I would also recommend Pink Line-Polk stop since it's much closer to the med school. If Pink Line is inconvenient to take (you would have to get it from the Loop), Blue Line IMD stop will get you there as well. Just a bit more walking.

I was "application in progress" until I called UIC a few weeks ago. I became "applicant in progress" right after the phone call and have not changed since then. Sigh 🙁

Hey y'all sorry for the delay, I could not re-find the thread

I am OOS
3.46 Overall Undergrad GPA
3.26 Undergrad Science GPA
3.7 Graduate Science GPA
28S

Just out of curiosity, are you an URM applicant?

For those that are trying to translate the status changes, I figured I'd post my situation. So I submitted in July, was application in progress until last month, switched to applicant in progress, then switched back to application in process. I called today, and the woman on the phone said I was being reviewed by a second reviewer. Hope this helps some of you!

sooooo...what about a status of "sufficient letters of rec received"? unassigned to screeners still? seems a little bit slow....

Went from "Application in Process" to "Applicant in Process" to "Applicant in Progress" to just now "Applicant in Process" again.

Does anyone know for sure when the monthly adcom meeting for December is - this Thursday the 13th or next Thursday the 20th? I've heard contradictory info!

EDIT: another question for those who have already interviewed. How long did it take for your status to change from "interview scheduled for (date). Evaluation not yet complete" to "decision pending" after your interview?

I think that's a good thing Irish, congrats! You may end up in Chicago after all!

just got the letter in the mail yesterday--chicago track! sent in the preference form about a week and a half ago (live in the chicagoland area)

i obviously spend entirely too long thinking about this stuff, but I have come up with this theory about the progress/process stuff from putting together different pieces of information. Of course, this could all be entirely wrong....

It's been said multiple times on this thread and in past years that your application goes through TWO different reviewers.

application is in process --> applicant in process = application is under review by reviewer #1
applicant in process ---> application is in process = failed review #1 (however still passed to reviewer #2)
applicant in process ---> applicant in progress = passed review #1 (passed to reviewer #2)
applicant in progress ---> applicant in process = passed reviewer #2 (should get an ii in near future)
applicant in progress ---> application is in progress = failed reviewer #2

I think the time between progress and process can differ depending on how quickly your application gets passed on. If you never change after application is in process even after a second review I think thats a rejection. What I still have no idea about is what happens if you fail 1 review, but pass a second. Ahh this cycle needs to end soon, good luck everyone!

The bolded part happened to me. Assuming that this explanation is true, how soon should one expect an II? i.e what does the "near future" mean??

I'm pretty sure this is not the case. I have had the same sequence as you, and when I called last week to ask about my "applicant in process" status, she said that she hadn't heard back from the second reviewer... Have been "applicant in process" for about two weeks so far after changing from "progress."

Hmm.... That'll teach me to get my hopes up. Hopefully we both get II's soon.

I changed from process to progress and have been @ progress for about 2 weeks now.. keep logging in hoping to see "process" :xf: good luck you guys!

Mine took about a week to change, but I got lucky and interviewed right before the committee met.

Im hoping to hear something soon from UIC! ;-)

Just moved to "application is in process." 🙁 Seems to be bad news. When I called, they said they hadn't heard from the second reviewer, but I'm not sure I believe this.

Sequence for me thus far:
Application in process
Applicant in process
Applicant in progress
Applicant in process
Application is in process

When I type it all out like that, it makes trying to read into these statuses look REALLY neurotic 🙂 Officially done looking at the status page.

I hope it's not bad news! Good luck! Don't worry about being neurotic I am right there with you.

Dont stress it! I know someone who went to application is in process and got a II a couple of weeks later. I dont understand these statuses either but all we can do is wait. Good luck 🙂

Thanks!! Stories like this are nice to hear. Fingers crossed for us both.

Hi everyone,
I am a current M1 on the Urbana to Rockford track. I am an OOS, non-traditional, and have a family. My GPA was mediocre/low (though my MCAT score was high), I had lots of volunteering experience, and I worked in both a lab and hospital before coming to school. If anyone has any questions regarding any of these things and/or the acceptance process, let me know and I will try to answer your question as best I can.

I just called my status is application is in process & the lady told me the reviewer still has my application and a decision has not been made yet. So there is still hope. I guess I'll keep waiting and waiting l0l.

Just called the admissions office. I was told that my application is currently with the reviewer, and that because of the holidays, I should hear back by the second or third week of January. Ugh, more waiting...

Interview invite! submitted around 10/22. Dates extend from 12/14(LOL) to 1/11

Anyone who interviewed in the past month-ish get a decision made on their file today??

Today is the second Thursday of the month. Next week.

I know this might be wishful thinking, but does anyone know if the people who interview tomorrow (12/14) have any chance to be reviewed at next week's meeting? It would be SUCH an incredible gift to hear good news from UIC before the holidays...

When I interviewed last year, I took the first date they offered to me (which happened to be the second week of January). I was accepted that same month. So it may be possible that you'll be considered next week.

I had previously thought that's when they met, but I was told it'd be this week due to the holidays. But it doesn't look like anyone heard anything, so maybe I was misinformed!

They would come out tomorrow, even if it was today, I believe. 🙂

Gotcha, thanks! :xf: Definitely hoping to hear, but I also realize that the adcom members probably want their holidays off too 😛.

Good luck tomorrow, girl! Are you interviewing at Chicago? I just interviewed there Monday - PM me if you want details!

Hope we hear back this week, cause that would be the best holiday present ever...so long as it's good news! 😀 I thought that they were going to meet this week as well...:xf:
