I called and at one point they mentioned to me that UIC sends out a specific one. I might be wrong though. Do you have the same status screen as I posted above?

I thought the CBC was the only one UIC does. I have the same status, but for a different reason (CBC complete, health history form not received). They're probably just backlogged going through everything everyone's sending in right now.

I'll check as soon as I get to a computer.

I have the same status as you (Pre-Enrollment requirements not yet complete). But it makes sense in my case because I have not sent my transcripts yet, so I have a No next to that requirement.

You should probably call them, especially if your CBC was done as well.

Does anyone know how to withdraw an acceptance? Is there something online or can you just send an email?

I dunno specifically for UIC, but most schools are ok with just an email with your name and AMCAS #!

So supposedly UIC students aren't going to be able to rotate through County anymore? Kind of a bummer...

Sorry, I should have mentioned it was by word of mouth. Is there anyone that could verify one way or another.

If you look on the hospital website, the only school they are affiliated with is Rush, IIRC.

Anybody have an idea of how long it took to go from "evaluation not complete" to "decision pending"?

So I am 3 weeks post interview and applied to UMed but never received an invite for that. My status just changed to "A final decision has been made..." with no Additional Correspondence. From what people have experienced is that definitely a rejection or is there a slim chance for an acceptance?

Sorry but that is most likely a rejection.

Still decision pending for me... been over 3 months. No email about it yet for March. Wonder when they're going to give me the boot??

Yeah I'm at 4 months plus. Consider yourself one upped 😀

I just want a decision one way or another. I can stop taking a worthless class if they just tell me no.

Has anyone who was accepted a few weeks ago gotten a campus assignment yet?

You may want to stop taking that class if you plan on sending it in for an update. I just finished taking a human anatomy class and wanted to update them, but apparently they are "no longer accepting updates." I'm in the "no decision made" pile as well. Sigh 🙁

Invited to interview 9/13/12 but never did. The school's really good if only the tuition wasn't so steep for out of state. Good luck to everyone. It was nice reading your posts

Heh, it's a super basic inorganic chem class that I'd need to matriculate at all. I have to take it because I skipped over it on my way to a chem engineering major.

Congratulations fellow classmate!! 🙂

Accepted to Class of 2017 MD!!!!

For people who got the Second Look email today, did any of those links work?

Can someone shed some light on this:

My worst fear is this,

UIC rejected me when i applied for undergrad (2005), but UIUC (U of I) accepted me.
Now that i have decided on medical school *gotta apply to UIC* am really wondering how that is going to reflect on ma app come 2013 app cycle for 2014 entering class

Given that your undergrad application focuses on what you did in high school, while med schools really only care about stuff after you started college, I have a really hard time believing this will be a problem.

If you're talking about Stroger, I'm not sure where you heard this from. I just finished ranking my rotation sites (for the lottery) for next year and ranked Stroger for multiple clerkships (ex. surgery, etc). The only rotation for which I don't remember (off the top of my head) having Stroger as a choice was IM.

Has anyone started looking at housing? I have a friend who's not going to this school but has already done a fair amount of research in Chicago apartments since he'll be moving in next fall. A couple of other friends (also not doing medicine) have already established housing plans. What are other people doing right now? It'd be great to conform to some standard, ya? Heh, I'm really interested in hearing from current students what their experience has been. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to want to live on campus. I guess I'm just wondering when is a ripe time to go housing-hunting, what's a good distance to live, what regions are well-connected by public transportation, what's not exorbitantly expensive, and what areas are safe. Those are my priorities right now. 🙂

It's true that in the university area, housing could be hard to find soon if one waits until July/August.

Have you heard about the medical student "apartment/suite" complex...I'm not sure if that's a good plan.

and I just asked another UIC student and they said Little Italy is a popular neighborhood.

Okay, yeah, I looked at Little Italy, and they're pretty close to campus! That's good. The one my friend is looking at is in Hyde Park, but since that's 10 miles off, I'm guessing that's too far. I guess one thing I'm wondering about is transportation times. Like, how long would a commute be from Hyde Park to campus? How often are people on campus (assuming for instance you only "go" to lecture by streaming them)? My friend and I aren't planning on living together, but it'd be kinda neat if it worked out.

Looks like Little Italy isn't just popular among UIC students, from this am's trib:

Just withdrew my acceptance. Hope it goes to one of you, my fellow SNDers!

For those of us who are invited to interview for UMED but are in the UPR track, what are your plans for the "second look day" - I haven't received any information yet.

I didn't have any type of status change in March (post-interview, late November)....and my status stilI says "decision pending." Any one else in the same boat? I haven't received another one of those dreaded "no final decision has been made" emails yet. I'm getting worried.

When did you get confirmation for the umed interview?

Sent from my Galaxy Note using Tapatalk 2.

Status changed to "Decision Pending"

Anyone know what that means?

That happened to me yesterday. It just means that our interview evaluations are complete and we will be reviewed at the next ADCOM meeting. In this case, probably on April 18th.

If it just changed to that from "awaiting evaluations" or whatever that one was, I think that just means that all your interviewers turned in their evaluations and your file is ready to be discussed at the next meeting.

I see

Well, Pending > Rejected I guess 🙂

Does it mean that we were in the last adCOM meeting and weren't good enough to be accepted just yet or does it just mean were prepped for evaluation, which hasn't happened yet?

We weren't in the last adcom meeting, they didn't have enough time to compile the evaluations before that meeting. April will be our first review with the interview evaluations

Good to know.
Hope we get in man!!

I got final decision made 3-21 with additional correspondence tab and just got the CBC email this week. They weren't joking when they said it could take up to 2 weeks to get something in the mail. : / out of state in Texas

Hey current applicants, I'm applying this summer and I'm pre-writing the secondary. How strict is that 250 word limit? I read that you can input more on the application. I currently have 370 words because I have a lot to say and I'm finding it hard to cut stuff out because it'll take away from my story. Is it possible to over write on this or is the school super strict on the limit?

I thought that it cut off after 250 words. In any case, I don't think they'll take 370 words for an answer. If they ask for 250 words, give them 250 words.
